for safety reasons. san francisco public defender jeff adachi who represented him at the media brechg gave examples. >> his sergeant his superior background and then saying do you know any towel heads. >> abc 7 news learned that in 2013 the officer was the subject of a napa police all points bulletin in a suspicious persons case. they were armted that he told a woman on a dating website he was a high-level cia agent and that he was involved in the killing of osama bin laden. >> police were so concerned that they issue this bulletin about the encounter to bay area law enforcement agencies. in 2015, the officer applied to the oakland police academy. the department told abc 7 news he briefly attended the academy as a trainee and that in march he was dismissed by the department. o p. d. would not disclose why. but a source with knowledge of the dismissal says the officer was kicked out for, quote,

untruthfulness in class assignments. in 2016 he then applied went through the san francisco police academy. both the officer and his attorney latif gray declined to be interviewed. but gray says the reason for the dismissal from oakland depends who you talk to. and he adds his client passed a lie detector test and a background check when he was admitted to san francisco's academy. gray also says he the officer denies putting himself out there as a cia agent and using an alias. he also denies saying anything about osama bin laden. now public defender jeff adachi says he can't comment because it's an employment matter. san francisco police declined to comment on the specifics of the story including questions about the extent of the background checks for new recruits. vic lee, abc 7 news. all right vic, thank you. now to preying news out of san jose.

paramedics now treating several high school students and teacher after they complained of feeling sick. take a look. this is live from sky7 at oak grove high school. on blossom hill road. you you can see first responders there. and someone there is on the gunnery. a treatment area has been set up on the school's front lawn. that is what you see. abc 7 news reporter kately marzullo live with the latest the developments. >> here at oak grove high school we're off blossom hill road and the fire department asked to us stay at this distance for this safety but as my photographer pushes into the scene you can see from sky7, the san jose fire department is calling that the warm zone where the patients are being treated. san jose fire department telling me just now that there are 11 patients at this point, a mix of students, teachers and custodians that they started having trouble breathing, describing respiratory distress a little after 3:00 this afternoon after something happened in a classroom.

now we are told that's a science classroom. but that no science was occurring in the room at the time. so hazmat is in there at this point checking things out, trying to figure out exactly the cause of this respiratory distress. but at this point, the fire department and the other first responders here do for the know exactly what caused this. all patients, though, are being eastmaned here on the scene, not allowed to leave for the hospital yet because of possible contamination, because the fire department doesn't know what happened to them they can't risk them passing that on to someone else. for that same reason, the fire department actually needs help right now really from the community, the school is working on it as well to bring back students or anyone else who might have been in that classroom who already left. they were allowed to leave after the incident. in fact some were told to leave but now the fire department would like them to return to campus again so they don't contaminate anything else or anyone else. they need to to be evaluated here before they are allowed to

leave the scene. so that's the situation happening now at this point. at oak grove high school in san jose, live in san jose, katie marzullo abc 7 news. let's go back to another live picture from sky7 over oak grove high school as we continue to gather information. you can see the treatment area set up there. we will keep on top of this developing story and post the latest updates on the news app as well as online at abc7news.com. now another situation in san jose. a medical emergency in the air. and that became a real issue on the ground as san jose's largest hop. medical transport personnel were sickened at valley medical center after they air lifted a patient who had been exposed to chemicals. abc 7 news reporter mat keller has details. >> reporter: an unusual scene at santa clara valley medical in san jose overnight two flight crew members from the medical helicopter and two emergency department staff are being decontaminated in a parking lot. >> we're a level one trauma center as well as 24/7 emergency

deputy department we're well equipped to handle emergencies at any time. >> this started in hollister firefighters were called to a farms production facility last night. a worker had chemical splashed on him. he was decontaminated there and put on a medical helicopter to san jose. but during the flight some crew members reported having respiratory issues and itchy faces while treating the patients when they landed they became patients as well pl valley medical center starpted the decontamination protocol and called sfie sfla fire to help put firefighters didn't know the chemicals the original patient was exposed to but narrowed to down to two acids and base that is could have mixed. >> we were able to determine just stuff needed to be deconwith soap and wert and able to do that with the assistance of compelled center personnel. >> the medical center says the four medical work he is were decontaminated eastmaned by emergency department doctors and appeared okay. they be monitored. >> decontamination is one of those things that we regularly

train our emergency department staff on. and they're well prepared to handle these situations. >> in san jose, mat keller, abc 7 news. well let's hope you were not caught in this backup early this morning in ornd an outside the caldecott tunnel. all started when a driver got a flat west of the tunnel and pulled over to the center. the caltrans tow truck driver tried to help out but the two got in an argument. the driver with the flat pulled out a gun and then fired twice into the air. a friend of that man arrived and the two took off. the driver was laterd at his home which the chp. the backup was cleared by 4:00 a.m. >> firefighters. firefighters blame gusty winds for making it hard to battle flames that gut add home in santa clara tot. abc 7 news was in sand martin as crews sprayed water on the home. the fire breck out before one. the first cal friar crews called for backup and san jose firefighters rushed to assist.

in novato problems and inconsistencies continue for customers of verizon wireless. >> as we reported last week wireless service has been spotty at best for them. and as abc 7 news reporter wayne friedman customer service has been an issue as well. >> welcome to verizon wireless. >> if it wasn't so frustrating the irony might be almost humorous, lisa westin of novato trying to get answers about cell phone service so bad that it may drop out any second. >> do you trust in device when you pick it up. >> not at all zpl since april 23rd verizon wireless has been cryptic about the bad internet connections and failed calls in novato. the company says it's working on the problem. we did find evidence of cell phone site maintenance in the region today. though verizon would not confirm if these towers belonged to them. problems began april 23rd but

"7 on your side" michael finney has been following this closely. >> he is here with a look at what you need to do if you lose zbloofs a lot of -- not a lot of answers from verizon as wayne told you. a consumers experiencing problems are now telling us as they told wayne that they're receiving rebates from verizon. one customer reported a $30 riebe, another $50. the important thing is for to you keep track of any service problems you are experiencing or all the times you call in. that way when you talk with customer service and request a refund whether now or later, you'll have the information on hand to prove you suffered a loss. now verizon has told us it will -- by the way it cold o told wayne the same thing -- will be happy to investigate each inquiry on a case by case basis. now i wouldn't thanksgiving of this as some big payday but you have a right to be made whole. i.e., not pay for their outage. we'll keep track of things. you need to keep track of things too with your phone. >> you think they're losing

claims show the shell company president trump's personal lawyer set up received millions in payments. the payments supposedly include money from a company with russian ties. abc news reporter terra palmieri has the details. >> the avenatti report shows one company transferred $500,000 in the account maintained by cohen. avenatti claims the u.s. firm has ties to company troeld by this russian oligarch. abc has not int dependently seen or verified the documents. the and avenatti does not provide any evidence about how the money received was distributed. "the new york times" reported earlier this year that special counsel robert mueller's team has interviewed vexle berg but an attorney with notify us lab said the ownership is american and vexle berg has nothing to do with the cohen. >> michael cohen should release the bank statements and records for the american people to see. if we are wrong we are wrong.

security at the dmv. >> it can be confusing. let me go back and beginning at the beginning. the federal government is toughening the id requirement for travelers flying domestically. now the october 2018 deadline is for the california dmv to meet the new real id standards. that's what they call it real id. the 2020 date is for fliers actually getting on plane. after that date you can't board unless you have a real id compliant driver's license. u.s. passport or other accepted federal identification. there is some good news here. as of january 22nd of this year, the california dmv has been issuing the new real id compliant driver's license and id cards. now we're talking about this. because in two years probably the tlae of us won't have new licenses. we better have a passport with us or we need a new license. >> this is a huge mess. >> it's a mess. >> paul asks i had more than 73,000 air miles with hawaiian airlines which expired there a
