>> they say officers chased the car to the civic krerpt where he was taken into custody. while nobody was shot, investigators say the suspect and one officer were treated for what are described as non-life threatening injuries. >> details remain sketchy about a man shot in the face in a quiet sunnyvale neighborhood. he was bledding from his face. he tried knocking on doctors, ended up walking nearly a mile to a convenience store to get help. david louie talked to residence about the gunfire they heard outside homes. >> residents of snowberry court prepared to call it night when the quiet of the culled sack was shattered by the sound of gunshots. >> i heard two sharp bang bang noises. then i heard a voice, a car door slam and then a car speed away. >> kathy's husband walked up and down the short street two minutes later but saw nothing. police arrived and began to investigate what had happen and

whether anyone was shot. there was a victim a man in his 20s or 30s after getting shot in the face the victim left the neighborhood walking down this sidewalk leaving a trail of blood. he made his way to a nearby 7-eleven that was open. >> nine to ten minutes later he walked into this convenience store asking for someone to call 911. two customers did while the victim sat in a corner of the parking lot bledding in the mouth area. investigators from sunnyvale public safety department aren't saying if the victim knew the suspect or suspects who shot him or provided a description. the victim's name and a description of the vehicle speeding away have not been released. >> we do have reports of a vehicle heard fleeing the area. but i don't have any further details at this time. >> reporter: the convenience store manager said he was a victim too as officers kept him from operating throe hours while she investigated. he estimates that cost him about $1,000 in lost revenue. police label the shooting an isolated incident with no connection to the neighborhood or its residents. >> it's a very quiet

neighborhood. we've lived here 31 years and no problems at all. >> in sunnyvale, abc 7. >> police say the victim remains in the hospital with no one non-life tlen threatening injuries. >> investigator in palm dale are trying to why a high school student opened fire on a classmate this morning shots rang out at highland 7:00. acre the sheriff a teenage boy was shot in the arm after a zut with a 14-year-old male suspect. the gunfire sent panic cross the campus as students and teachers arrived to start the day. >> when i got there a bunch of kids started running out towards me with panicked look on their face and said mr. alexander turn around turn around an active shooter. >> the injured student is expected to be okay. the high school was placed into lockdown most of the morning while sheriff's deputies searched the campus to determine

there was no other threat. a scare for a peninsula home owner. a car car evened into his house kwhiel he was sleeping. but what investigators are trying to figure out was this a case of mechanical failure or criminal behavior. here is matt killer >> this crash into a house in redwood city is unusual but the whom owner knew it was always a possibility. >> i wouldn't say it's surprising. >> sky map 7 shows where this road ends in the city. the bmw 20 through the yard before coming to a stop inside the house just before 5:15 this morning. >> i basically said the brakes went out and lost control of vehicle. >> sam said he woke up minutes before the crash. >> i was rolled over to cuddle with the new puppy heard a loud -- loud sound and then all of a sudden the entire house shook. >> samd checked to make sure the driver was okay. he said the 24-year-old got out of the car and sat down on the porch and started to treatment on a cut to his hand.

police eventually arrived and appeared to give the driver a sobriety test. witnesses say the driver was taken away by police. a building inspector was called to the scene. >> they yellow tagged us which means structural walls were damaged. we can go in and out and grab things but can't occupy the residents until it's shored up. >> architects were at his home to discuss possible renovations. this time line was moved out. >> this might be the catalyst that cat puts into renovation. >> we reached out to redwood city police to find out what charges if any the driver faces and they have yet to return the call. in redwood city, mat matt keller abc 7 news. the ghost ship case was back in court. max harris as attorney is ofrpg to pay out of his own pocket for a sober lichaj arrangement in an appeal to get him bailed out of jail. abc 7 news reporter leslie brinkley following this case from oakland. >> reporter: attorneys for ghost ship defendant max harris declared today was the first

time that the judge acknowledged the defense has merits. >> it seems as though the court is leaning towards releasing mr. harris on bail based on new law on the circumstances in which we want to introduce him back to the public. >> harris's attorney offered to use his own money to help pay for harris to be released from jail into a sober lichaj facility with an electronic ankle monitor base on her a new landmark state court recalling requiring judges to consider alternatives to jail for criminal defendants who can't afford cash bail. harris along with derick almena, the founder of the arts collective known as ghost ship are each charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter for the fatal fire back in december 2016. today a judge turned down a motion to dismiss those charges. almena's wife believes her husband is being scapegoated. >> i'm really disappointed the motion was dismissed today. i think -- i don't think that was right. >> but almena will have a chance to speak in court.
