two police vehicles and officer involved shooting occurred. today investigators went door to door looking for surveillance video. >> we're not able to state whether the shooting was at a moving vehicle or not. >> police haven't said whether the suspect was armed. an officer was injured >> we just got hit by a car at western ofarrell can you give me a 408. >> i hit my head. >> that officer was treated and released at the scene. >> hail still in a vehicle fled to polk and mckafrlt streets. separate investigations are being conducted by the san francisco police homicide detail, internal favors air force and department of police accountability. >> a number of factors are involved here. how the officer felt their life was in danger, what the actual suspect was doing at that time. >> hail was taken to the hospital with non-life threening injures. in san francisco melanie wood

row abc 7 news. a bicyclist was taken to the hospital this afternoon after being hit by a car at turk and laguna streets in san francisco. the bicyclist was alert and speaking with paramedics after the crash. so that's a good sign. but police are investigating who is at fault there. the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. a santa rosa woman will spend 30 years in prison for driving the minivan into a crowd of people outside a night club three years ago. happened at the el ray night club in santa rosa in november of 2015. jessica garcia physically attacked her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend, stabbed her boyfriend in the face with a broken bottle and grabbed her minivan and plowed into the crowd. five people injured. officers arrested garcia when she crashed her minivan driving home. a 74-year-old man is going to prison for smuggling marijuana into the u.s. in the 1980s then escaping law enforcement with a fake name.

today a san francisco judge sentenced payton aidson to three years in prison. he pleaded guilty in january to drug charges and id sheft. aidson smuggled thousands of pounds of marijuana into california. in 1985 he posted bail and used a pat port with a fake name to fly to australia. investigators tracked him down in 2011 and he returned to the u.s. last year to face charges. the ghost ship warehouse fire case was back in oakland today. one of the defendants was trying to getted bailed out use agnew decision from the california supreme court. leslie brinkley explains. >> this is the first time a judge acknowledged that our defense has merit. zblrp harris's attorney offered to use his money for harris to be released into a sober living facility with an electronic ankle maurnt based on a lamar state court ruling requires judges to consider alternatives to jail for criminal defendants

who can't afford cash bail. harris, along with derick almena, the founder of the arts collective known as ghost ship are each charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter for the fatal fire back in december of 2016. today a judge turned down a motion to dismiss the charges. almena's wife believes her husband is being scapegoated. >> i'm disappointed the motion got dismissed today. i think -- i don't think that was right. >> but almena will have a chance to speak in court. >> we intend at trial to put our client on. so mr. lambie will be testifying. and he will be testifying on his own behalf. >> attorneys are pushing for an evidentiary hearing before the trial judge. >> arson investigators botched the investigation. they failed to preserve the crime scene. and then they released all of the contents to the owner. the owner is essentially giving the murder weapon back to the murder suspect. >> max harris will be back in court on may 24th for his bail

expected in court next week. a major utility company in louisiana claims it didn't know a california pr firm paid crowds of people to help boost support for a new power plan. the company crowds on demand is based out of southern california. this is the website. crowds on demand crow admits it paid people to attend hearings to support the energy power plant project but says the people's enthusiastic feelings towards the project are sincerely. new orleans councilmembers approved the project in march and opponents filed a complaint with the state. parents struggling with college savings plans may get additional help. a proposed bill allowing parents to claim a tax deduction on money faucet intoed a 529 savings account passed the senate finance committee. currently 529 contributions are deductionable on federal returns but not state returns. the state senator behind the measure says it will work to
