peninsula, low to mid 70s today instead of the upper 70s. but it is 70 right now concord, 60 in santa rosa. and there it is from the golden gate bridge, sutro tower camera showing the hazy sunshine throughout the morning hours. the fog at the coast and we'll look for the warm temperatures again inland, but numbers will be cooler today. i'll tell you how much and what to expect for mother's day in a few minutes. a major event is pumping positive energy and money into the north bay where residents and businesses are still recovering from last october's wildfires. cornell barnard as the story. >> reporter: if swimming, biking and running long distances is your thing, the iron man triathlon says bring it. >> we have almost 2,000 athletes competing from 47 countries. >> reporter: it is second year iron man has staged its race across so sonoma county, just what local businesses need.

this weekend, the finish line is in sight. in santa rosa, cornell barnard, abc 7 news. three people were hurt when this deck collapsed in the backyard of a two story home near mills college in oakland. sky 7 was over the home after the deck crashed to the ground around 1:30 yesterday afternoon. a fire department spokesman says two people were taken to the trauma center. and this morning we're hearing from a san francisco mayoral candidate under fire for proposal to eliminate some of the sanctuary city protections. indicate tu you katie utehs has more. >> we will fight. >> reporter: protesters are upset, angela alioto is trying to change the sanctuary policy. it would remove protections for violence felons. on the board of supervisors back in 1989, she authored the original sanctuary city ordinance. subsequent supervisors changed it, she says this initiative gets it back to her original intent.

hawaii. degree month oig polifremon recovered a body that was still clothed when it was discovered in a remote area by a hiker yesterday afternoon. officials with the alameda county coroner's bureau used a drone and specialized boat to find and recover the body. a nigerian woman has filed a discrimination lawsuit against united airlines after being kicked off of a flight that was bound for san francisco because someone complained that she had pungent odor. she said it happened on a flight change in houston in 2016 when she was traveling with her children. the suit says a man in business class told the flight crew that she smelled and that he was not comfortable flying next to her. united put her family on another plane five hours later. facebook is planning to expand its san francisco presence in a big way. the "san francisco chronicle" reports the company is expected to lease all of the office space

>> reporter: your secret is safe with us, eli. katie marzullo, abc 7 news. live doppler 7 showing you the fog along the coast. it has been entering the golden gate bridge are and we're looking at some breezy winds. we had the offshore winds yesterday. still pretty gusty in the upper elevations and that allows for the warmth this morning. still holding on to the mild 60s, 11 degrees warmer this morning at hayward, napa 15 degrees warmer. but by the afternoon, we'll have cooler temperatures in most spots due to the shore flow, the northerly winds still with us in our east bay valleys with the westerly winds taking over here and we'll see the gusty winds at the coast. 58 san francisco, 65 in oakland. been watching the temperatures drop in some locations around the bay. 65 in mountain view, 59 san jose. gilroy, 55 now. 54 at the coast. and here are the winds that will

dictate the return of the onshore push. low clouds and fog going back through the bay tonight for a great start on mother's day. napa all the way up to 69. takes about a day or so for this transition for the entire bay area. while some of you will notice it today. 70 by the delta, 71 concord, 67 in fairfield. we have the delta winds gusting to 30 miles an hour. when we so that, it is an indicator of the fog being pulled in from the coast. so there is a look from the golden gate bridge with the gusty winds at the coast today. it will be cooler, still warm to hot inland and then partly cloudy and the temperatures coming down still further for mother's day. so as we look at the forecast animation, you will notice that the southerly surge and fog from the central coast making its way all the way up to the bay area over the past few hours. and that will influence our highs today. tomorrow, we'll look for 70s inland with 60s around the bay. 50s at the coast.

and the trend will be to continue to have the cooler air filter all the way in to our east bay valleys. so by monday, we're still looking at the trend bringing the cooler weather and even by tuesday, notice the temperatures still coming down to below average readings. highs today about 80 in santa rosa, so still above average. going to take another day for you to feel the effects of those cooling westerly winds. and then 60s tomorrow with that trend taking us through the beginning of the workweek. in the south bay today, a warm day for you if you are down towards san jose and morgan hill. mid upper to 70s on the peninsula. san francisco in the 60s. at the coast, breezy to gusty, about 80 in sonoma. you will feel the breeze in the north bay. 72 today in oakland, head inland and look at the oranges, heading out toward the delta, but still on the warm side there and the

good morning. our sutro tower camera certainly illustrating the changes we have on tap today compliments of the fog that has moved up from the central coast while you were sleeping. but we still have some very mild numbers from oakland to mountain view, but we've been dropping them drop here in sfwran. upper 50s, half moon bay at 54. from santa cruz, at least 10 degrees cooler today. it's 60 in santa rosa. it is mild to warm from novato to fairfield, but the winds will be traveling through the delta, cooling just about everybody off today. so it will take all day for you to feel the effects of this all around the bay, so it will still be warm. look at our 11:00 temperatures inland, upper 70s. elsewhere though, it is cool, half moon bay still mild in the city. but that warming trend is halted. the warm around will just be east of the tunnel and perhaps

california's projected surplus. >> the legislature will have some ideas, we'll work together. but i can tell you all the people that want things won't be getting what they like to have. >> reporter: the budget surplus is $3 billion more than the governor had projected in january thanks mostly to higher than expected tax revenues. some of the world's top automakers met with president trump yesterday. the current administration wants to roll back some of the box era policies that are now in place. but california is against it. talking about the future of the country's auto industry, president trump hinted at signs of cooperation but maintained his promise to put america first. >> we have a great capacity to building. we're importing a lot of cars and we want a lot of those cars to be made in the united states. >> reporter: in a meeting with to which automakers, the president instructed his administration to explore negotiations with california.

morning. so the gusty winds from the upper elevations were offshore all night long and that kept the temperatures very mild. live doppler 7 picking up on that surge of fog from the south. and as we look out toward san francisco, it will be a sunny day, but the winds will continue to be quite gusty in through the golden gate. 65 in oakland, and temperatures are cooler as we get toward gilroy. two mile visibility here. so the fog certainly making an impact at the coast and the breezy winds once again today really from the on shore component, that is the additional change that will allow for the cooling today. yesterday of course they were offshore. 60 santa rosa, upper 60s in santa rosa, but the wind will be howling through the delta today. that will allow for temperatures to be just a few degrees cooler. about 80 today. still warm. and then 67 right now in

livermore. you can see the fog here. a good ten degree drop today from the upper 70s to the mid and upper 60s here. so cooler today, still warm inland. and looking at partly cloudy skies around the bay for mother's day. speaking of the coast, we'll bring the temperatures into the 60s, some 50s possible with the low clouds and fog. so some of you have reached your high temperatures already. elsewhere, it will be another warm day away from the shoreline. so if you look at the numbers inland, still pleasant. in the 80s. 80 on in santa rosa. but around the bay picking up some 70s and the cooler conditions with temperatures considerably cooler as you head down the coast. so we will be looking at that surge of fog to move inland t t tomorrow morning. by the afternoon tomorrow, just in the 70s. so no more 80s as we wake up to
