shot at them. hitting one of the deputies. one deputy then returned fire, but missed. they say the suspect's gun then seemed to jam that's when deputies arrested him. >> developing news on erupting volcano in hawaii. a new vent, number 18 owe tuned day prompting a round of evacuations as concerns grow not only in hawaii but also in the lower 48. abc news reporter marci gonzalez is tracking the threat. >> reporter: more evacuations ordered as fountains of lava explode from new cracks in the ground. >> people are starting to panic right now. >> another fissure opening sunday, the 18th here on hawaii's big island in more than a week. >> this fissure opened in a wooded area nowhere near homes, but that lava is spewing 40 feet into the air. it is so powerful, you can feel the vibration from it. one of the major concerns blockage of a major roadway which could leave some residents stranded. vacation rentals near the evacuation zone told to shuttle down to relieve the demand on

gathered credit, debit card information and names. chili's operates a dozen restaurants in bay area. the company has not revealed which restaurants. chili's hired a security firm to investigate. >> protesters took to the streets of seattle to persuade amazon to help pay for affordable housing. they're urging city council to support a head tax on large businesses. the measure requires large companies in seattle to pay $500 per employee with the money going to housing and homeless services. tax proposal would cost amazon $20 million a year, and the outcome of the vote, amazon put construction of a 17 story office tower in seattle on hold. >> apple ceo tim cook returned to college roots this weekend. he gave the commencement speech at duke where he received a business degree in 1988. cook did undergraduate work at auburn. head of one of the premier tech companies challenged students to think differently in his speech. a message he touched on before. he also challenged them to take

mothers from all walks of life are treated to day. abc news was in san francisco where the hamilton family center took care of moms at emergency homeless shelter. there was a brunch, music, gift bags and that's not all. the mothers also received makeup and hair styling sessions. it definitely touched those who were being pampered to day. >> this is spesh. you know what i mean? people take time to, to, remind us that we're, we're somebody. you know, regardless of where we are at, we are special enough to, to take the time to do this. >> the hamilton family center is ichbt tenderloin neighborhood. it provides shelter for 300 families. >> thousands of people enjoyed the sunshine and some of them might have done some last minute mother's day shopping in alameda. abc 7 news on park street for the downtown alameda spring festiv festival. featuring 150 vendors selling their creations. folks also found plenty to eat and drink. and if you felt like dancing, over there. the spring festival showcased

but what we have we zoom in a liftle tighter on live doppler 7. see the gray shading on your screen that is the stubborn low cloud cover from santa rosa south towards petaluma, san francisco, along the peninsula. that marine layer once again will thicken overnight and bring clouds to the majority of the region. in fact time to time. the live look right now, you could see san francisco about 30 seconds ago. and the fog has rolled back in. part of the reason why we are seeing an increas marine layer. our winds coming off the ocean water adding a bit of moisture into our atmosphere and cooler air. they're gusting, to about 18 right now. in napa. 24 miles now. in fairfield. 16 in concord. current wind gust in san francisco. at 15 miles per hour that wind directs coming off the ocean water, right now the ocean walter, 52 degrees. so it is cool. adding that cool air mass overhead. so for much of the day today. santa rosa. you have been stuck in the 50s. well below where you should be. this time of the year. only 60 right now in san francisco. 72 though in san jose.

with more in the way of sunshine. 63, oakland. concord. checking in at 65 degrees. so here is the call from accuweather. over 12 hours. the pattern repeats itself tonight, the cloud cover right now along the coast will spread in. and around much of the region. so upper 40s to lower 50s. with gray skies. early on tomorrow morning. so the big picture outlook, live doppler 7 along with satellite. there is a bit of traffic jam in the atmosphere, so to speak. you can see the area of low pressure just kind of sitting and spinning, to our east. that is not moving anywhere any time soon. over the next couple days. so what that will do keep the cool air in place, but also pick up our winds once again tomorrow afternoon. so future tracker wind gusts. foam morning, not all that bad. light. less than 5 miles an hour. then as you go into the afternoon. the wind will ramp up once again. tomorrow evening. see the winds. frequent leap gusting over 20 miles an hoir onur once again. day planner. monday. similar setup.
