been this crash as you get into the maze area. westbound 580, the connector to 80, we have a two-car crash reported. we saw it on camera for a short time. it sounds like at least one of the vehicles involved is off on the shoulder, definitely still seeing this backup past 24. it looks like it's spilled over onto westbound 24 as well. as of a few moments ago, we still have not gotten word that the bay bridge metering lights have been turned on. we'll look at drive times coming up next. we have breaking news to get to that we're tracking in san jose. police investigating a double homicide. the investigation under way along sierra road. if i look on my computer, that's east of the upper sierra neighborhood. you can see in our video flashing lights. we have video from the scene overnight. police tell us the shootings happened about 10:00 last night. they have been investigating this thing for a few hours.

these are the ninth and tenth homicides of the year in san jose. police right now asking for the public's help. if you saw or know anything, you're asked to call police. i'll let you know if we get an update. a community is grieving after this crash on 880 in fremont that killed three people including two children. >> the driver suspected of being under the influence of marijuana at the time. abc 7's amy hollyfield live in manteca where one of the victims went to school. >> reporter: a student here at sierra high school, grief counselors all week to help them get through this loss they're suffering. their classmate, 14-year-old christy limas died yesterday. she was a member of the future farmers of america here at this school in man tekia. she was ejected from the cadillac escalade she was riding in yesterday on 880 in fremont along with two others. hur classmates say it's hard to lose her, bus especially under

these circumstances. >> the school is really sad right now. a couple of my friends are really crying over it. it was just a sad thing to hear. i heard she was really funny and had cute outfits and she was so nice. i went to school with her. >> christy was killed along with 39-year-old noelle johnson and brook limas of manteca. the driver who investigators blame for the crash is -- he is in jail. he is believed to have been driving under the influence of marijuana. he's also accused of driving recklessly and speeding. he is expected to be arraigned this afternoon. live in manteca, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> san francisco mayor mark farrell is tackling heroin use in the city. >> today he's expected to announce plans for a special medical team that will treat the homeless with a drug to stop heroin cravings.

trained professionals would prescribe the drug to hundreds of homeless addicts. the department of public health began testing the drug in ten camps in 2016. nearly 60% of people who began treatment are still working on staying clean. >> also today, the salvation army will pass out food, socks and hygiene kits to the homeless in san francisco. this video taken at the civic center b.a.r.t. station showing just an example of how dire the situation is. salvation army officers and volunteers will serve that area today between 1:30 and 4:00 this afternoon. crews in contra costa county are keeping an eye on this scene after a fire broke out last night. this is outside of martinez on franklin county road. they responded aggressively over concern of the start of wildfire season. 54 firefighters and ten support personnel were on hand. four rvs, a boat and storage con iner were destroyed.

but flames didn't advance past that area. a lawsuit against the pappa murphy's pizza chain. the family picked up pizza and salad from this american canyon location last month. the family believes the contamination came from the salad you see. the youngest, a toddler, suffered a life-threatening illness that damaged her kidneys and red blood cells. >> her kidneys numbers, her her functions wurz dropping. her hemoglobin start dropping. >> the family is seeking unspecified damages. pappa murphy's has not responded to our request for comment. the lawsuit comes on the day the centers for disease control says it will finally be safe to eat romaine lettuce. the last batch of potentially tainted lettuce left yuma -- the growing season in yuma is over.

the cdc says it's unlikely any of that tainted lettuce is left. in total, 172 people got sick in 32 states and one person died. >> 6:06 now. oakland mayor libby schaaf is in washington, d.c. to vie for more federal funding for affordable housing and homeless services. her day comes a day after president trump criticized her for warming immigrants about i.c.e. raids back in february. the departme he said the department of justice should investigate her for obstructing justice. mayor schaaf says she didn't let the president's message distract her. she tweeted spent the day preventing our vision to make college a reality for every child from oakland. now on to d.c. to fight for federal dollars for affordable housing and homeless services. she included hashtags, not distracted, not obstructing and doing my job. a racist rant caught on camera. a lawyer raging at a restaurant about people speaking spanish.

commute. >> our biggest issue the crash on westbound 580 on the connector to 80. one of the vehicles involved in the crash has been cleared, the other one is still blocking the left lane. that is backing up things there on westbound 580. that has spilled over onto westbound 24 as well. the rest of our bridges really looking good. westbound 84, dumbarton bridge, in the green at nine minutes. new at 6:00, parking could get a lot more expensive at the golden gate bridge. according to the examiner, bridge officials are considering new fees at the parking lots on the san francisco side. currently drivers are allowed to park in the employee parking lot on the west side for $5.00 per day. the new fee is $5.00 per hour for both lots. officials say the new fees could raise $400,000 a year. more than $100 people showed

so bizarre. outrage this morning after a new york city lawyer was caught on camera in a racist rant. many people who have seen the video are calling for him to lose his job. >> you're not documented. the next call is to i.c.e., out of my country. >> the restaurant manager says this man started yelling at two women, an employee and a customer for speaking spanish. >> i pay for their welfare, for their ability to be there. >> one of the women filmed this video on tuesday and her husband posted it on facebook. people identified the man as a new york city lawyer named aaron schlossberg. he's touted his fluency in spani spanish. 22 lab animals dead at uc berkeley. animal rights activists are calling for an investigation, according to the sf gate, a

group called stop animal exploitation now sent a letter to the chancellor saying 22 animals died from starvation, suffocation or botched surgeries between 2015 and 2017. those animals include monkeys, bats, mice and chicks. oakland schools are dealing with big challenges, finding enough qualified teachers to fill a shortage. salaries and affordable housing are hampering that effort. the district held a job fair last night talking to more than 100 applicants. a recruiter says school district teachers make between $46,000 and $85,000 a year but oakland health benefits only cost teachers of $30 a month. >> we're keeping with folks that have higher sell rays but we have one of the best benefits in the area. >> i'm mainly here because i want to work with students. >> the oakland unified school district has 70 teacher openings for the fall with three more recruiting events coming up in june and july. if you want to be a

minutes away from my accuweather forecast. temperatures today in san jose, one degree warmer than yesterday. biggest change in santa rosa about six degrees warmer. people who live in a north bay retirement community that burned down in last year's wildfires have filed a class action lawsuit. >> they own homes at the orchard in santa rosa but rented the land. the burned down senior living facility has been cleared, but months after the fires there was no sign of construction. the homeowners and lawyers fear the landlord is trying to drive them away. they believe they're being pushed out to make room for younger families that can pay ryer prices. >> you have people that are actually making it harder for you or taking advantage of you because you're already down as far as you can possibly think you can go, and then find out you could still go down further because somebody has pushed you down further. >> abc 7 news spoke with hometown america president stephen brawn yesterday. he said he had never heard of the lawsuit and he describes the charges as untrue. the public is invited to a home and ranch readiness summit

in the north bay. it's a free event where people can learn to make an emergency plan to protect their families, homes and pets in the next disaster or emergency. it's happening this saturday at the sonoma county fairgrounds in santa rosa starting at 9:30 a.m. a new study finds more american workers are planning to stay in the job market until age 70 or later. that's according to northwest mutual. 22% of workers plan to work until they reach the ages of 70 to 74. an additional 16% say they will work until 75 or older. more than half of the respondents said this is out of necessity, not choice. many feel they don't have enough savings built up for retirement or concerned that social security will not cover all their needs. we're always hearing about the death of brick and mortar stars. don't count them out quite yet. macy's reported sales are up about 4%, profits up, too. the company credit online sales, remodels stores and new

around a pole. a black car has major damage to the front end of the car. police have not released details about a possible suspect. we believe there's still looking for someone that's out there. i will let you know if we get an update during our newscast. a south bay teacher accused of sexual harassment will not be fired. our media partner the bay area news group reports domini caserta will remain a sive vicks teacher at santa clara high school. he resigned from the city council and withdrew from the county supervisor race. several women including former students say he behaved inappropriately towards them. he denies the allegations. many parents are not happy with the school district's decision to keep caserta on staff. in response the district says it's creating a sexual harassment task force to educate students and parents about recognizing harassment and how to report it. it will also streamline harassment reporting processes. 49ers linebacker rubin foster back to court today. this time we expect his ex will

take the stand. >> she originally accused him of domestic violence. now she's expected to tell the judge she made those charges up. matt keller is live in san jose. >> reporter: rubin foster is out on bail. he'll be arriving at the hall of justice later this morning for his preliminary hearing scheduled to start at 9:00. today will be a big day in court. he's facing three felonies relating to an alleged domestic violence incident in february. the alleged victim, alyssa ennis, former girlfriend, rec t recanted her story publicly. a video has been turned over to the district attorney's office. her attorney told "the sacramento bee" ennis plans on testifying today. that will ultimately be up to the prosecution. legal analyst stephen clark says the da's office may want to call her to the stand to get her testimony on the record. a judge will decide if there's enough evidence for the case to move forward. a trial could come by mid summer.

49ers say they're waiting for the case to be resolved before they make any decisions on foster. live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. this morning san francisco police need your help identifying this man. investigators say his pit bulls bit four people and another dog. that attack happened on sunday at dolores park in the grassy area above the basketball court. authorities say the pit bulls attacked a dog named bloom. she suffered puncture wounds on her back. four people who tried to separate the animals also got bit. police say the owner took off with his pit bulls before officers got to the scene. >> in my mind you would stay around to make sure the dog is okay, and if the other dog or the attacked dog needed medical attention. >> anyone with information is urged to call sfpd's vicious and dangerous dog unit. 6:34. the head of the san francisco police officers association has stepped down. marty halloran talked about

retiring this fall but apparently decided to act sooner. he had been the head of the association since 2013. the police union has been negotiating a new contract for several months. after failing to come to an agreement, they went to arbitration and a new deal was reached two weeks ago. a man with a violent criminal record is charged with the murder of a young couple in sonoma county. authorities say shaun michael gallon shot them in the head as they lay sleeping on the beach in jenner. 22-year-old lindsay cutshall and 26-year-old fiancee jason allen were on breaks from their jobs as christian camp counselors. investigators spent more than 12 hours pursuing the case. their break came when gallon was arrested for killing his younger brother last year when he gave them information that tied him to the generaler murders. a crash on 880 in flee month killed three people. >> the driver expected to be
