the coast in the 70s, sun going down at 8:15 later today under a mixture of sun and clouds. let's get a check of the roads with alexis. >> nod such a good start here. we always hope for friday light commute. we're not getting that out of the central valley. a sig alert still in place westbound 205 to 580 very slow all due to a disabled semi that's been there for about an hour. as far as i know, we still don't have the heavy-duty tow truck on the scene. now hearing about a crash involving a motorcycle just before that. it sounds like the rider is okay. a major headache already this morning. eastbound 580 we have lanes closed until 6:00 for bridge work. we have about a two-mile backup approaching the scene. next update in less than ten minut minutes. cambridge analytica, the m embattled data firm that worked on donald trump's 2016 presidential campaign filed for

chapter 7 bankruptcy. we have a copy of the paperwork filed early this morning in new york. the consulting firm is based in the uk, but today's filing, part of the process of closing down the company. it announced a few weeks ago it would be shutting down. in this paperwork that i have, the company listed assets of up to $500,000 and its debts of $1 million to $10 million. cambridge is accused of misusing the personal facebook data of millions of people while working for trump's 2016 campaign, something the firm continues to deny. reggie? >> thank you, jessica. the landlord of a santa rosa retirement community is responding to a class action lawsuit. yesterday we reported residents at the orchard are suing hometown america. they claim the company which owns the land is delaying their ability to rebuild homes after the october wildfires. hometown america says temporary trailers are not allowed on the property. the company is abating rent

until september and it's offering to rebuild homes at cost plus 10%. it says residents are free to work with whomever they want to rebuild their homes. uc berkeley fired a long-time member of the athletics department after an investigation found he violated the university's sexual violence and harassment policy. mohammed was accused by assault by seven women. earlier this year, she filed a lawsuit against the uc board of regents. the university says he was terminated last friday. cal athletics called the investigation's findings, quote, holy inacceptable. a palo alto man sitting in a jail cell in nepal for more than a month waiting to see what charges he will face. his mother is pressing the state department for help. wolf price is a filmmaker and humanitarian. he spent 12 years in nepal raising money and creating

educational opportunities for girls and women. his mother says he was arrested after trying to break up a fight between a brother and sister. >> there was a fight between him and his sister. my son broke it up and the kid started pounding his head on the floor to suggest that there was abuse. he's an innocent person. he's being treated like a criminal. he's only done good in that country and helped people. >> the u.s. state department tells abc 7 news since mr. price's arrest, counselor offices have visited him. a cafe in berkley has reopened with new owners and a new name. elmwood cafe is now called baker and commons. the menu still has the cafe's be loved pastries and soup. comedian accused a server at being racist. the cafe closed in april when the incident was brought back up

again after two african-american men were arrested at a philadelphia starbucks. next week a santa clara county judge will decide whether the domestic violence case against ruben foster will go to testified she falsely accused him of hitting her. she did it because she wanted to get back at him for breaking up with her. she claimed there was an extortion ploy that got out of control. she says her injuries were sustained the night before during a fight with a woman following a road rage ichbs depth. she admitted to stealing more than $8,000 and two rolex watches when she left his home. legal analyst stephen clark says her testimony seemed to be credible. >> her getting on the stand over her lawyer's objection and telling her story suggests that this case is not prosecutable for the d.a.'s office. >> ennis also admitted she tried

to bring false domestic violence charges against another ex-boyfriend in 2011 when that man tried to break up with her. more office space could be coming to west field mall. the chronicle reporting there are plans to renovate the 7th and 8th floors totaling 50,000 square feet of office space. it would add three terraces with views of cable cars, replace storage and meeting spaces. it all started with this instagram post. earlier this week kylie jenner announced she's opening up a pop-up. >> fans are camping out overnight, eagerly awaiting at 10:00 a.m. this morning. amy hollyfield is there with the growing hype right now. good morning, amy. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. this is the kylie popup. now look at the line. this is on grant street and the line goes all the way down grant

we're talking about at least a 30-minute delay right now. that is about seven miles of very heavy traffic. westbound 580, the richmond side of the richmond-san rafael bridge just before you get past the toll plaza, reports of a disabled vehicle not causing a backup yet. some parents in san jose say their kid's health and safety is at stake if a road widening project at school goes forward. >> it involves a bridge over interstate 880 connecting with a residential road behind the school abc 7 reporter katie marzullo has the report. >> reporter: people have a lot of questions about a proposed char cot avenue extension, mainly parents whose children go to orchard elementary school. the extension would create a bridge for cars, bikes and pedestrians over interstate 880 connecting with silk wood lane. silk wood lane would be widened

taco truck for the staff. the fire in redwood city delayed commuters for several hours. sky 7 flying toward the scene after a crew saw smoke rising yesterday afternoon. the fire broke out along the southbound lanes of 101 near woodside. you're looking at what drivers saw as they headed past the scene. this is video from an abc 7 news viewer. the highway patrol issued a sig alert because it forced officers to block the right lane. still no word on a cause. the u.s. securities and exchange commission is getting in on the cryptocurrency gold rush, even offering guaranteed returns. however, it's all a ploy to educate us. here is the sec's coin, the website offers bonuses and designed to look like an real initial coin offering, similar to ipos on wall street. by the way, this is all fake. the sec is trying to show us how easy it is to scam people and

hour-by-hour we go. let's time out the low clouds. 7:00 in the morning, you see partly cloudy skies in the north bay and inland, but elsewhere around the immediate bay, a fair amount of low cloud cover. by midday, lunchtime, the majority of the region, that's how the afternoon shapes up. highs today, it's not all that bad away from the coast. a lot of sunshine, temperatures in the 60s and 70s. 65 for oakland, 72 for san jose, 77 in santa rosa. afternoon sunshine. san francisco going for a high of 62 degrees. if you're headed to at&t park for the giants game later this evening, the rockies are in town first pitch. it will cool out there. 58 degrees. as the game wraps up, it's breezy, a mix of stars and clouds out there, temperatures dropping into the mid 50s. overnight tonight we see the pattern develop once again. the cloud cover will fill right back in, upper 40s to lower 50s. the name of the game tonight. there could be coastal drizzle, but just confined to the coast.

july. according to the marin ij there could be more toll increases because of a growing budget deficit. yesterday officials predicted a $3.9 million deficit. expecting a $72 million deficit in five years and a $360 million deficit in ten years. primarily due to increases in salaries, medical coverage, pension costs and depreciation. in today's gma we're learning more about the explosion. >> her ex-boyfriend is under arrest but not for the actual bombing. >> in this morning's gma first look, the son of the woman killed in the california day spa explosion is speaking out for the first time. >> a lot of this is still very raw and still really hard to process for everybody. >> reporter: authorities charging the spa owner's ex-boyfriend, stephen beal, with possession of an unregistered

getting out of the central valley. we have this problem in tracy, westbound 580 at grant line road. around 4:00 this morning, a big rig ran out of fuel and that is sitting in one of the right center lanes. here we have an hour and a half later. the tow truck is stuck in truck. saying maybe they'll get there in about 15 minutes. this is a sig alert. two motorcycle crashes within that backup before they got to where the semi is. the first one was minor, made it off to the shoulder. the second one not so minor. that rider possibly has some injuries. now we've got an ambulance trying to get through the scene as well. six miles an hour, seven moyles an hour. it's rougher. if you can take ace rail, i recommend that. northbound 680 near al costa, a vehicle fire is blocking the two right lanes. let's get straight to breaking news happening in santa cruz right now. police activity there. abc 7 news reporter matt keller just got to the scene a few moments ago.

matt, what's going on there? >> reporter: good morning, jessica, working on getting information confirmed. behind me you can see chp has ocean street extension blocked off. this is a one-lane road. the crime scene is a half mile down the road from here. we saw deputies come by the scene. the chp says they are in charge of this active crime scene they have going on here. there are ambulances here, fire trucks here as well. we also heard that a medical helicopter was called in to the scene. of course, we're working on getting those details confirmed. they say they're trying to get somebody from the sheriff's department to get more information. live in santa cruz, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> we'll check in with you shortly. i want to tell you another big story i'm tracking at the live desk this morning. overnight there was an active shooter at a golf resort belonging to president trump. i want to show you the scene from overnight. we got this video a short time ago. shots were fired at the hotel,

happened at the tram national golf resort in doral, florida, this morning. police say a man was in the hotel lobby yelling about the president. police responded and shots were fired. no one was hurt and the suspected shooter is right now in custody. the president's son eric trump thanked police on twitter a short time ago. i've been looking, so far nothing from the white house yet. back to you. >> thank you, jessica. developing news, fremont police have seen a rash of gold chain robberies targeting women of east indian descent. look at the surveillance video. a woman gets robbed while she was filling up her gas tank off fremont boulevard on may 6th. investigators say they've seen a 50% jump in the number of gold chain snatchings this year. there have been six this month alone. investigators believe this man may have committed two of the robberies, preying on moth is picking up their children from olivera and patterson elementary

schools. >> get a little feeling of insecurity to all of us, not only about the jewelry, but it's about dropping the kids in the morning. >> we're not wearing much gold these days. it's better not to wear it just to be safe, and especially for the safety of our kids. >> police say all the robberies took place in broad daylight and targeted east indian women. >> disturbing. six uc berkeley police officers are in danger of losing their jobs this morning, accused of hanging out in a building when thap should have been patrolling the campus. cal's police chief claims they spent parts of their schiff inside the math library inside evans hall. investigators used hidden cameras to catch the officers. the officers had an appealing hearing last month. they're awaiting a decision on whether they'll be fired or come back to work. they have not yet been publicly identified. the driver charged in the deadly crash on interstate 880 is expected to enter a plea. investigators believe dang tran

was high on marijuana when he hit an escalade on fremont. the crash killed 39-year-old noelle johnson and her boyfriend's two daughters. >> they were planning a life together and chris had his two girls full time, and noelle had her girls and they were but beautifully blended. >> one child remains in the president who. governor brown signed a bill to pay nearly $20 million to a man wrongly imprisoned for almost 40 years. craig coley was convicted of killing his girlfriend and her 4-year-old son in simi valley in 1978. in 2016 police found dna evidence they thought had been destroyed. testing proves coley's innocence. police are looking into the weather the murders are actually tied to the golden state killer. suspect joseph deangelo has been charged with 12 murders so far. oakland mayor libby schaaf will be in the shadow of president trump as she travels to washington, d.c.

she's going to be there to talk about affordable housing and homeless services. this week president trump suggested the department of justice should investigate schaaf for obstruction of justice. in february she informed immigrant communities about impending i.c.e. raids. i'll update the situation in hawaii. they have been getting more earth quakes this morning. one just less than an hour ago. geologists are warning that more eruptions are likely at kilauea volcano. there has been ash for miles around the volcano. you'll remember yesterday morning there was a big powerful explosion. it sent ash 30,000 feet into the air. it's also been shooting out ballistic rocks about two feet wide. authorities have handed out 2,000 masks to residents. it's a big concern, the air quality and a 21st fissure opened up overnight as well. some of the other cracks have also been reactivated.

so again, i'm watching the situation closely for you this morning. i'll let you know if we have anymore updates. back to you. the state assembly member accused of groping a man who worked for her is expected to return to work on monday. christina garcia was cleared in the investigation into the alleged wrongdoing. other claims brought by staff members were verified and they include the use of vulgar language and use of staff for personal errands. garcia could still face disciplinary actions for those issues. she took a voluntary leave of absence in february. time is 5:37 a.m. we're watching that visibility along the coast because it's down to three miles right now at half moon bay. elsewhere we're doing good. if you see ten on the screen, that's about as good as it gets across the region. temperaturewise, novato at 48 degrees, 53 in san francisco, about 52 that current number in danville and mountain view. waking up to a temperature of 56 degrees. hour-by-hour we go, early on this morning, a lot of gray on

the screen. that's the low later today into the afternoon, away from the coast, a lot of sunshine and it will be a rather mild day with warmer spots low to, if not, upper 70s. we'll take you tore the east bay. later today, you see early morning cloud cover giving way to afternoon sunshine. take a look at temperatures in the east leandro. richmond up to 68 degrees. the entire region showing highs today about 72 for san jose with afternoon sunshine. cloudy and cool along the coast. 60 half moon bay, 77 the high in santa rosa. about 72 in san rafael, 75 for concord and 66 the high in san mateo. we'll end the week on a warm note. the weekend will start off like that. we'll finish it on sunday with cooler and breezier conditions. we'll detail that coming up. how are the roads looking early on this morning? we had a couple of accidents. >> the worst spot is definitely

getting out of tracy. that's where we've got the sig alert. it's been there since about 4:00 this morning. a big rig ran out of fuel just after 4:00. that's sitting in one of those right center lanes. sig alert continues then following that we had two motorcycle collisions within that backup. tow truck is stuck in the backup. we have an ambulance on the way to one of the motorcycle crashes. it's just a mess this morning. you can see that's just gridlock. solid red line back on the 205 and into tracy. i'll show you what this is doing to our drive times. westbound 580 tracy to castro valley, two hours and nine minutes. you may want to think about ace rail this morning. no issues there. northbound 101 highway 85 to the san jose airport, looks good, 15 minutes. northbound 280 highway 1 to san francisco, eight minutes. bay bridge metering lights on as well. next traffic update in ten minutes rjts 5:39.
