live look. gray skies up above. visibility in some spots is down to one to three miles. locally dense fog in some spots. 12-hour day planner, later today, that typical pattern. the clouds will slowly break down, pull back to the coast. by 4:00, a nice mild afternoon. chilly on the coast in the upper 50s, most spots going into the low, upper 70s later today. we finally have the semi cleared from westbound 580 in tracy past grant line road. damage is done. ran out of fuel about 4:00 this morning, and it just cleared a few minutes before 6:00. so a solid line of read back into the tracy area from 205. these speeds not picking up yet. four miles an hour, five miles an hour. that is obviously really tough. as drew mentioned, reduced visibility if you're passing golden gate and coming into the north bay. we'll take a look at drive times coming up. we continue to follow breaking news in santa cruz.

there's a lot of police activity happening in the area of ocean street and the ocean street extension. abc 7 reporter matt keller is there waiting to talk to police. can you show us the scene? >> reporter: you can see behind me the ocean street extension is blocked off. they're not letting traffic in and out here. we're about a half mile away from the active crime scene that's taking place right now. here is new video we just received from closer to the crime scene. law enforcement seen putting up crime scene tape across the ocean street extension. there was an ambulance, followed by a sheriff's deputy. units from santa cruz police, sheriff's department and other units. the sheriff's department is coming down to us and will talk to us about what exactly took place that caused such a big response from law enforcement. live in santa cruz, matt keller, abc news. the landlord of a santa rosa

retirement community is responding to a class action lawsuit. yesterday we reported residents at the orchard is suing hometown america. they claim the keen which owns the land is delaying their ability to rebuild homes after the october wildfires. hometown america says temporary trailers are not allowed on the property. the company is abating rent until september and it's offering to rebuild homes at cost plus 10%. it says residents are free to work with whomever they want to rebuild those homes. uc berkeley fired a long time member of the athletics department after an investigation found he violated the university's sexual violence and harassment policy. mohammad mokhtar was accused by assault. one accuser was former basketball player lash yeah claren ton. the university says he was terminated last friday. cal athletics called the investigation's findings, quote,

wholly unacceptable. a palo alto man has been sitting in a jail cell in nepal for over a month waiting to learn what charges he might face. his mother is pressing the state department for help. as the days pass, her concern gross. wolf price is filmmaker and humanitarian. he spent 12 years in nepal raising money and creating educational opportunities for girls and women. his mother says he was arrested after trying to break up a fight. >> there was a fight between him and his sister. my son broke it up. the kid started pounding his head on the floor to suggest there was abuse. he's an innocent person. he's being treated like a criminal. he's only done good in that country and helped people. >> the u.s. state department tells abc 7 news since mr. price's arrest, consular officials have visited him. they'll continue to provide appropriate consular services to mr. price. a cafe in berkeley that abruptly closed last month reopened with new owners and a

new name. elmwood cafe is now called baker and commons. p mean new still has the favorite menu items. in 2015 comedian w. camel bell accused the cafe of being racist. the cafe closed in april when the incident was brought up again after two african-american men were arrested at a philadelphia starbucks. more office space could be coming to west field mall on market street? san francisco. it's 6:14. welcome back. parents in north san jose say their kids' health and safety is at stake if a road widening program goes forward. >> it would create a bridge over interstate 880 connecting charcot avenue to silkwood lane. parents are concerned about pollution and the safety of their kids with more cars so close to the school. a spokesperson for the city's department of transportation says public input is welcome. >> this is the process when we look at impacts, noise, sound, construction, environmental impacts, that kind of thing. so this is the right phase in the project for them to be weighing in. >> we'll work hard to mobilize the community and hopefully we can make it stop. >> parents were discouraged this first community meeting was scheduled on the same night as orchard elementary's open house. the city said it was not intentional and they plan a second meeting for monday.

and temperatures right back up early next week. that's the forecast. get a check of the roads with alexis. >> we're friday light in most areas today, but the one place we're having a lot of trouble is the central valley. westbound 580 still in recovery mode. we had a disabled semi, a big rig ran out of fuel about 4:00 this morning. took them almost two hours to clear that from one of those middle lanes. so it does not take much along that stretch. speeds slowly picking up but barely. on 205, two miles an hour. up to 15 miles an hour the closer you get to where the incident was. all lanes back open now. boy, that is still really tough, just starting to unwind about 20 minutes ago. ace rail may be a better bet. ace one, three and five on time. no issues there. 52 b.a.r.t. trains in service. muni looking at normal service and no delays. golden gate bridge, light volumes. it may cost more to cross it in the future. the toll is going to go up --

hold on one second here. 25 cents, that is going to be to $8.00 for non-fast trak users. there could be more toll increases because of a growing budget deficit. yesterday officials predicted a $3.9 million deficit for the coming fiscal. they e pektd a $72 million deficit in five years and $360 million deficit in ten years. the deficits are pry preparely due to increases in salaries, medical costs, pensions and depreciation. >> cambridge analytica, the embattled firm that worked on donald trump's 2016 presidential campaign has filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy. look at this. we have a copy of the paperwork. i've looked through it this morning. they have filed for bankruptcy in new york. it's part of their proceedings to actually close down the company. the consulting firm based in the uk. in this paperwork the company

houston. these are live pictures just coming in. it's our first look at what's happening there. there is a lockdown under way for the entire school district right now. some kids have told our abc sister station ktrk that at least 28 patrol cars responded to the school a short time ago. again, these are our first images coming in. you can see the police on scene right now. i have been listening in to our live coverage. they just spoke with a student on the air. take a listen. >> just a gun person walked in the room and started shootal. this girl got shot in the leg, someone took her in the truck and they were driving off. >> the man was in your classroom with a gun? >> yes. >> a shotgun? >> it was like a shotgun. >> did he say anything? did he yell anything? >> i'm not sure. everyone was screaming already. they were already running.

good morning, matt. >> natasha, this is still a major investigation. we've seen units coming in and out of the scene at the ocean street extension. this is the chp blocking it so no traffic goes in and out unless you're law enforcement. here is video shot earlier from closer to that crime scene. law enforcement was seen putting up crime scene tape. an ambulance followed by a sheriff's deputy. santa cruz police department, sheriff's department and chp. we heard about a medical helicopter as well. the pio came up here and said he was going up to get briefed and he'll come back and give us more information. live in santa cruz, matt keller, abc 7 news. fremont police have seen a rash of gold chain robberies targeting women of east indian descent. surveillance video shows a woman getting robbed while she was filling up her gas tank on fremont boulevard on may 6th.

investigators say they receive seen a 50% jump in the number of gold chain snatchings just this year, six of these this month. investigators believe this man may have committed two of the robberies, preying on mothers picking up kids from olivera and patterson elementary schools. >> give a little feeling of insecurity to all of us, not only about the jewelry, but it's about dropping the kids in the morning. >> not wearing much gold these days. it's better not to wear it just to be safe, especially for the safety of our kids. >> police say all the robberies took place in broad daylight an targeted east indian women. can you help lakeport police identify this man? take a look at the sketch of this suspect in an attempted abduction. a 26-year-old woman told police on tuesday a man approached her on fourth street near library park and offered her money for sex. she says when she rejected him, he tried to pull her into his

red lexus sedan. 6:35. happening today, the driver charged in the deadly accident on interstate 880 is expected to enter a plea. highway patrol investigators believe dang tran was high on marijuana when he hit a cadillac escalade in fremont, killing three people. >> they were planning a life together. chris had his two girls full time and noelle had her two girls. they were beautifully blended. >> five other people hurt. one of them, a child, remains in the hospital. i do want to update you quickly on something that happened overnight at a resort owned by president trump. let me show you the scene here, what was happening overnight. i can tell you this update that just came in. the police chief now saying the shooting suspect there actually tried to ambush officers but lost the gunfight. that's a new detail that came in

this hour. if you're just waking up with us, there was an active shooter at the trump national golf resort in doral, florida. police say a man was in the hotel lobby and yelling about president trump. police responded and shots were fired. no one there was hurt and the suspected shooter is right now in custody. we're having issues with fog. live doppler 7 showing you santa rosa and half moon bay reporting three miles of visibility. your morning commute, you may likely encounter locally dense fogg. temperaturewise, 40s and 50s this hour. concord at 55, 56 in santa rosa, 47 degrees. later today we'll see the fog overhead slowly pulling back to the coast. by 10:00 this morning, we do expect more in the way of sunshine away from the coast, and by the afternoon that cloud cover confined to half moon bay

there's an active shooter situation at a high school. i want to show you a live look at the scene. you see an ambulance there as well as police cars. this is all unfolding in santa fe, texas, just out sued of houston. there is a massive police presence on this campus. a short time ago we saw students evacuated from the school. it appears to be orderly at this point. we do have a few more details. here is what a student told our houston sister station on the phone just a short time ago. take a listen. >> how did you get out the door? >> we have a door in the back, and we ran out there. but there's -- some people were at the gate. some people were running out another door. >> we believe all of this started roughly 50 minutes ago. one student told our colleagues in houston the shooter was a male who came into her classroom, and she saw at least

everyone has their drinks, all the pomp and circumstance under way, just a cool setting to be out here. we have a couple of developing stories. we wanted to bring you updates on the royal wedding. we did just learn this morning it's going to be prince charles walking meghan markle down the aisle instead of her father who is suffering from health issues. meghan asked her future fath father-in-law and he said news. meghan's mother is meeting the queen today for the very first time. they're scheduled to have tea this afternoon. it probably should have already happened here london time because we are now approaching dinnertime. this is the first time they're going to meet today. of course, this is also harry and meghan's last official rehearsal day at windsor, doing more rehearsals throughout the day. we can hear the music playing, ways. this is the last chance they can see each other before they stay somewhere else tonight and see each other again tomorrow for the big wedding. somebody else i met today, the

but stop and go traffic as we head towards foster city. next traffic update before 7:00. watch as a pedestrian is crossing a street and nearly gets hit by a car in san ramon. it's about to happen. this happened just after 9:00 at al costa boulevard and iron horse trail. the driver crashed into the car that has the dash cam you're watching. this is obviously way too close call. nobody got hurt, nobody got arrested, but thank goodness for his cat-like reflexes. can't say the same for this guy. i don't know what he was thinking. this passenger trying to break his way into a plane in australia. they don't like it when you do that. investigators say the passenger was running late, pushed the crew out of the way and ran onto the tarmac and tried several times to open the door to the plane, even using his feet. baggage handlers grab him. he got arrested for assaulting airport employees. >> bad idea.
