you're here now. i've been waiting on you the whole time. yesterday had a chance to walk along the long walk which you can see behind us, meet a lot of the locals, learn some terminology and on top of that i got a little carriage ride, so it made me feel special here in england. >> you'll share all of that with us. >> i'll share it with everybody. >> harry and meghan as we know will tie the knot tomorrow morning at st. george's chapel here on the grounds of windsor castle. you can see it there. they will travel through windsor in a carriage after the ceremony and so we want you to take a look at the route they will take before returning to the castle where they will have a reception. they'll come right by here. >> lined by a hundred thousand or more people filling up each side of the road but we have team coverage here in windsor. all are standing by with the final preparations before all the pomp and circumstance of tomorrow. let's start with our paula faris who is at the harte and garter hotel. we learned prince charles will walk meghan down the aisle.

>> yes, and this announcement is widely being celebrated this morning throughout britain. what a special moment it's going to be for prince charles, no daughters of his own to walk down the aisle and now he'll be walking down his future daughter-in-law. this morning, kensington palace announcing that meghan markle seen here with prince harry leaving a dress rehearsal at windsor castle has asked prince charles, her future father-in-law, to accompany her down the aisle. the palace saying the prince of wales is pleased to be able to welcome ms. markle to the royal family in this way. this announcement putting to rest weeks of speculation about who would walk ms. markle down the aisle. markle's father thomas believed to be her first choice believed to have changed his mind following the news he was cooperating with the paparazzi for this series of pictures and then admitted to suffering heart trouble which landed him in the hospital near his home in mexico this week. meghan announcing yesterday that

regretfully he will not be abel to attend the wedding. so that leaves mom doria as the only member of markle's family who will be in st. george's chapel for the ceremony. the yoga instructor and social worker arriving in london yesterday where she was whisked from heathrow airport to windsor castle to meet prince charles and camilla for tea. the first meeting between the three was described by witnesses as jolly. and this morning, doria will be meeting the queen for the first time. then she will be celebrating meghan's last night as a single woman with her at the clifton house hotel. meantime, prince william and harry will be staying across town at the coworth park, a five-star country house. and we've also learned that prince philip, harry's 96-year-old grandfather recovering from hip replacement surgery, will be attending the ceremony and, robin and michael, if you remember back in december harry said something along the lines of my family is

the family that meghan has never had so poignant in light of everything that's transpired. >> good point. >> very good point.t,aula. joining us now is imogen lloyd webber, and, imogen, we just learned this morning that prince charles will walk meghan down the aisle and she asked him to do this herself which is a big step, i could imagine, for her but not only that, the future king of england will walk a biracial divorcee down the aisle in front of the world. how significant is that? >> it's symbolic. obviously the royal family have evolved. the last prince of wales as we now know as the duke of windsor wanted to marry a divorced woman, so they have moved on. he longed for a daughter, diana talked about that and in 2015 he even admitted publicly that he wanted a second grandchild to be a girl and, of course, his wish came true so he does have that moment of walking his future daughter-in-law down the aisle. a big moment for a father. >> yes, exactly. we've been told that they have a special relationship.

this is really proof of that. >> it is absolutely and everyone is talking about how meghan is a humanitarian activist. prince charles has been for decades. the work he's done for 42 years really has been on hot button issues and sometimes got in trouble over it so i imagine they're bonding over that. kindred spirits. >> this is not the first time he's walked someone down the aisle. >> you're absolutely right there. he actually walked diana's goddaughter down the aisle, alexandra, in 2016 so has a bit of practice. this is a high pressure moment right now. yeah. >> but this -- we're also learning that prince philip is going to attend. haven't seen him in a while. >> great news. he did have a hip operation fairly recently. he's 96 years old. soon to be 97. he is a very proud man. anyone who's watched "the crown" knows this and he wouldn't want to be in public unless he were nailing it especially for the queen to have her husband there. >> this really speaks about the royal family, the way that prince charles accepted this

invitation. i mean, to enter into this royal family as she has, she couldn't be welcomed any more than this gesture by him. >> very important. learn the lessons of the past and learned from diana's death and had a rocky week but learning from that and stepping up and looking after her and that is so important. you know, every bride gets nervous before her big day. she has all the pressure of the world, great big goldfish bowl and she'll be beautiful and wonderful that prince charles is doing this. >> a great way to be welcomed into the family even though we know she'll miss her father. >> absolutely. >> she's in the spotlight and there's so many people who are going to be here and there's great concern, as we understand. 600 people will be inside the chapel for the actual service but there will be hundreds of thousands that will be out here and so security is of the utmost importance. it's tight all around and our james longman has more on that story for us. james. >> reporter: good morning,

robin. security is extremely tight, making sure to keep the 100,000 expected to gather here safe. now, take a look behind me. heavily armed police. we've rarely seen their presence stepped up just today and already airport staff security and sniffer dogs preparing for so-called ring of steel and authorizes tell visitors expect to see all kinds of police here on horseback, on the river and in the air. there's even a 48-hour no-fly zone over the castle and all this will cost. the wedding itself is going to be paid for by the royal family but security is a public affair. at will and kate's wedding in 2011 the government paid nearly $9 million to keep everyone safe and while there's no specific security threat, britain does remain on its second highest level of alert, severe. robin. >> all right, james. thank you so much. so taking every precaution as you would imagine so we'll have much more from windsor coming up but back to you all there in new york. breaking news and let's go to rebecca jarvis. >> george, breaking news for our

viewers in the west. a texas high school is on lockdown as authorities investigate a possible shooting. as you can see, there's a massive police presence at santa fe high school. the atf has confirmed that it will aide in the investigation and the school's website posted this message. this morning an incident occurred at the high school involving an active shooter. the district has initiated a lockdown and we will send outedal information as soon as it is available. our houston station was told that there was a person with a shotgun and there was one girl shot in the leg. a witness told ktrk that he saw at least four people on stretchers, amy. we'll turn to that breaking news overnight. a suspect walking into the trump doral resort with a gun in his hand. police opening fire taking him into custody. abc's victor oquendo is on the scene with the very latest on all of those new development, good morning, victor.s, good morning, victor. >> reporter: good morning, amy.

police have just released the suspect's identity. jonathan oti, 42 years old. police are working on securing a search warrant to go through his home. we've learned a lot of information about what happened here at trump national doral overnight. police say oti came into the resort through a year entrance, lowering an american flag that he brought into the lobby and laid it out onto a counter. the director of the miami-dade police department said he started firing at the chandelier and the ceiling. there's no word on a motive but police say that oti was yelling anti-trump sentiments. five officers exchanged gunfire with him. had ewas shot several times in his legs and is recovering in the hospital. none of the officers were shot but one did suffer some broken bones in his arm. incredibly, no guests or hotel employees were hurt. multiple algencies are on the

scene, working to determine if this has anything to do with president trump. amy. >> scary situation. we go to the white house and the latest on the summit with north korea. president trump now taking steps to reassure kim jong-un after that threat from north korea to cancel the historic meeting. our senior white house correspondent cecilia vega has the details. good morning, cecilia. >> reporter: george, good morning. these insults of the past, rocket man, fire and fury, we are not hearing that anymore. now he is offering kim jong-un protections. from the oval office, president trump enticing kim jong-un to talks by offering him a life line. >> he'll get protections that will be very strong. if we make a deal, i think kim jong-un is going to be very, very happy. >> reporter: the president seemed to pledge kim would remain in power if there's a deal. >> this would be with kim jong-un something where he'd be there. he'd be in his country. he'd be running his country. his country would be very rich.

>> reporter: but the north koreans signalled they could be getting cold feet, warning they might not attend a meeting with president trump after john bolton urged them to do what libya did more than a decade ago. >> we have very much in mind the libya model from 2003/2004. >> reporter: to north korea that sounds like regime change. after libya gave up its nuclear program, dictator moammar gadhafi was overthoen and murdered in the streets. with bolton right there looking on, president trump flatly contradicted him. >> well, the libya model isn't a model that we have at all when we're thinking of north korea. in libya we decimated that country. >> reporter: the president ever optimistic the summit is still on as the white house continues to make plans for singapore. >> nothing has changed with north korea that we have know of. we haven't been told anything. if it does, it's fine. if it doesn't i think we'll probably have a very successful meeting. >> reporter: that reaction from the president is exactly what we're hearing unanimously from

the state department, from other white house officials, from the national security council, george. they all say despite north korea's threats to pull out of this meeting, they are all still planning and moving ahead as if this is going to happen. >> yeah, want to keep everything on track. on the home front, cecilia, a major move from the white house today taking on planned parenthood. >> reporter: we are told this morning from a white house official this announcement will happen today. essentially this requires abortion services to be offered in a space separate from where other family planning activities are happening. abortion rights groups are calling this a gag order and says it blocks them from providing abortion information and services and they will lose their family planning funding. this is aimed as you said at planned parenthood, but anti-abortion groups are cheering this one. >> could affect more than $250 million in funding. cecilia, thanks very much. amy. new concerns about the volcano emergency in hawaii. an eruption sending ang ash cloud 30,000 feet in the air and officials are now handing out 18,000 ash masks to residents

still on hawaii's big island. abc's matt gutman has been there throughout it all. matt, good morning. what a stunning scene there behind you. >> reporter: it is. i want to give you a sense of where it is, amy. good morning, by the way. this was a cow pasture. that is now fish sure 20. gurgling and bubbling lava dozen of feet in the air. molten rock ooze down the hill. it is 1100 degrees and it bursts over there and just beyond that stand of trees you can see them smoking. they've just been lit on fire. now, seismologists were out here this morning. they're assessing this because another fissure has opened up and these fissures that had cooled had actually become active again. they're trying to figure out why that is. the only thing they know for sure is that -- you can see that eruption there. the only thing they know for sure is that we're going to see more of these eruptions. now, the concern is that that is going to cause this massive haze

of sulfur dioxide all across this island, which is why as you mentioned these respirators are the most sought after and scarce commodity around. civil defense handing out 18,000 of them because people are so concerned about their health here. >> we can hear that behind you. you're safe where you are right now, matt? >> reporter: we are safe where we are. we are at a safe distance away but it is just enormous amount of lava being spewed in the air. very impressive. >> matt gutman, indeed, impressive. >> staying cool through all that as well. the latest on that tragic school bus accident in new jersey where a bus full of fifth graders on a field trip hit a dump truck, tipped over, killing at least two people and eva pilgrim has the story. >> reporter: a fun student excursion turning instead to tragedy. their school bus ripped apart in a deadly crash. >> i'm going to need about 20 ambulances. i have a full school bus and victims on the ground. >> reporter: investigators say it appears the bus filled with 38 fifth graders and seven adults on a field trip was

traveling on southbound us 206 when it turned onto westbound interstate 80 colliding with the dump truck in mt. olive, new jersey, 10:30 thursday morning. >> you could hear the tires screeching and then heard -- you could hear the bus hitting the guardrail. >> be advised we have two young females, cpr in progress. >> i got one child shallow breathing with a head injury. >> reporter: the highway littered with wresage. you can see the steering wheel, the front end sheared off. the crash ripping the chassis right off the body of the bus. police using dogs to search the scene in nearby woods for survivors. the dump truck several hundred yards down from the crash scene. one student and one adult were killed. the injured, several in critical condition rushed to area hospitals. >> for those of you that have the loved ones, you go home and you say how much you love them because there are people that tonight are not able to. >> reporter: we do know the

driver of that dump truck has been speaking to investigators. the school has canceled all field trips for the remainder of the year, just a heartbreaking story. >> yeah, incredible images there. eva, thank you so much. back over to windsor. michael and robin are there. michael, you have the cake? >> that's right, george. we're getting a closeup of the cake. kensington palace giving us our first glimpse of the royal wedding cake. it's a three-part layered lemon and elderflower cake made of 200 lemons, 500 organic eggs and 44 pounds each of butter, flour and sugar. sounds like something my mother cooks. it was created by baker claire ptak and six other bakers who have been working on it for the past five days in the kitchens of buckingham palace. that's going to be thick and delicious cake after the ceremony. back to you guys in new york. we'll save you a piece. >> we were saying how we would like to have some. >> looks pretty good.

when i think about my favorite teachers, they're the teachers who teach me lessons outside of the classroom and with the way they make you feel. my teacher's a good role model, because she tells us never to give up. one of the people i think i have the closest relationship with is one of the campus security technicians. he makes sure i have a plan, i get my homework done, and it's just a really good role model to have. i want to thank my teacher for being so kind to other people. narrator: exactly why the california teachers association believes strong public schools make a better california for all of us.

an interest in the world around her. her mother doria, a social worker and yoga instructor, her father who won't be able to attend the wedding because of health reasons, a successful lighting director who helped her feel comfortable in the spotlight, often bringing her on set with him. >> i grew up on the set of "married with children" every day after school for ten years. >> reporter: like her future husband she's become deeply dedicated to humanitarian work serving as a u.n. women's ambassador. >> it isn't enough to simply talk about equality. one must believe in it. >> reporter: meghan is the first self-made woman to enter the royal family. she's a feminist. the words breath of fresh air is often used in connection with the royal family. in terms of meghan markle it's absolutely true. >> reporter: and that is no doubt what fascinates so many people about this american woman. yes, she is marrying harry and stepping into royalty, becoming a newly minted princess but as you just heard she walks up to

mayhem. the morning of, we were getting changed in clarence house which is the queen mother's house which was lovely so there very much as part of the family already and there was a little tv screen and there she was watching herself on the screen. didn't want anyone in the way and wanted to see herself. she was in her jeans and she had the tiara on. there was just chaos everywhere, princess margaret came up to check on her. it was really lovely. very intimate. that's how it felt. >> as much as you know and have heard about meghan, is she ready for such a global event tomorrow? >> you know, it's interesting because, of course, diana had been around that type of life and that kind of upbringing. meghan clearly no experience of that. but meghan is 36. so she's lived life a little more. diana was -- >> a baby. >> so young. so young. and i think having to live with

the prurient interest of the press every single day and as it grew there was no guidelines for any of that. they come now with more experience, harry has lived this life so at least knows where the battles are and i think will be beside meghan every step of the way. when diana became the princess of wales, the queen gave her two of her ladies in waiting to really help her to guide her, to show her the ropes because there's a lot. it's a lot. and i suspect that meghan will get the same kind of support but even more. she has kate who has got the experience now and has managed the balance because that's what it is, it is a balance. >> both harry and meghan said obviously they wish diana could be here at this wedding, but what similarities do you see between meghan and diana? >> everybody is inevitably going to ask this question and drawing conclusions. we know nothing really about meghan and how she will be able to cope with this but i think because she's got more experience she'll have a greater view on it. what one hopes is harry's role

break is news for our viewers in the west. a suspect has been arrested in an early morning shooting in a high school in santa fe, texas. local law enforcement says that the suspect appears to be a student. the shooting occurred during the school's first period and one student telling ktrk that she saw at least one girl shot in the leg. a father told ktrk that his son smelled gunpowder and heard shots. the students then ran to a nearby home. the school which has about 1400 students has confirmed that there are injuries. one area hospital says it has received patients but has not said how many. the shooting happened at about 7:45 this morning with students hearing fire alarms. a s.w.a.t. team was quickly on the scene along with local police, ambulances and helicopters. both the if fbi and atf are assisting in the investigation. again, a shooter suspected to be a student has been apprehended in a texas high school shooting, george. we want to go back to windsor with all that's coming

setting up for it, you know, as a child, she stood up for things she believed in. she got a commercial change because she thought it was sexist. as soon as she became an actress she realized she had a profile she wanted to take on charity work and i've been watching her and harry and i have been traveling around the uk with them the last few months as they've been meeting people and it's just been amazing because she's such a natural in the role. >> when it comes to charity and philanthropy we've seen all the things she's done in the past but in this new role what do you think she'll focus on? >> i think young people, it's going to be a big focus for her and harry, young people are very excited about them. they're very relatable to young people and i think for meghan women's empowerment will be a very big issue. she's spoken about it before and described herself as a feminist and she once made a great comment where she said, she thinks girls should focus less on glass slippers, and more on shattering the glass ceiling. which is funny because she has the ultimate fairy tale here. she wants girls to think of their education and things of substance.

suspect in custody. a second one detained. an injured police officer is being treated. the extent of his injuries, unknown. we have also heard from a doctor at a local hospital, a trauma center. he says they have received three patients. two of them adults, and one under 18, all gunshot wounds, and he refers to the situation as, quote/unquote heartbreaking and we are hearing from local law enforcement there may have been an explosive device left behind inside the school. so to recap, we're talking this morning about the breaking news out of santa fe, texas outside of houston where abc news has learned there are multiple casualties after a school shooting. yet another school shooting, and here we are again on another reporting in america. brad, give us the sense as we look at the pictures here of

first responders of what's going on at the scene in a moment like this. >> well, it appears, dan, that they have it contained. they are saying that they have the shooter in custody, but the real clue and key here is the movement and activities of law enforcement, and bomb techs. apparently, atf and other bomb techs are at the scene because reportedly maybe some devices in the school. the issue is this is a very good sized school, so you're going to have to clear it. despite the fact you think you only have one shooter, that they apparently have in custody. what else do you have? do you have explosives? did he put up devices -- booby traps that law enforcement could walk into in it wi? it will take time to clear the school. >> another thing that is cruelly ironic is they have to take a hard look at the students who lived through this experience, and are evacuating. they have to look and search

among the students to see if a shooter is escaping with the tide of students leaving the school. >> exactly, like, nikolas cruz in parkland, florida. he mixed in with the crowd, and you're right. you have to pat down kids, and you're probably even searching some vehicles in the parking lot. in particular, the shooter's, but maybe other people's property, just to make sure they have this contained. >> we have with us on the phone this morning, pierre thomas, abc news correspondent. he is our chief law and justice correspondent. what are you hearing from your sources inside the federal government? >> reporter: again, we're getting reports of multiple injuries, dan. again, federal authorities. the atf has responded. the fbi has responded. that seems to support local law enforcement, and just a horrific situation. law enforcement officials have been concerned. the fbi just recently came out with a report showing that these kinds of active shooter incidents have been on the rise. just this week, we saw an

the aisle. we've learned that when she arrives at st. george's chapel she will be initially accompanied by her page boys and her bridesmaids and then halfway down the aisle which is approximately where the choir is located, that is when her father, her future father-in-law will meet her and escort her to her betrothed prince harry and so much speculation about what she will wear. will it be a british designer? everyone in britain is hoping it is a british designer but some estimates that the dress could cost anywhere between $100,000 and 400,000 pounds and when you convert that to american dollars we're talking maybe a half million dollars. i know michael's jaw probably just dropped but before we go, let's take another look at the cake. yeah, i know. you and i are very pragmatic about this, michael but let's look at this cake, guys. hints of lemon and elderflower. this elderflower infused in the cake is reportedly sourced from the queen's sandringham estate and loads of butter, flour and
