area student group called enough sf. they plan to gather at the civic center at 7:00 p.m. now, as part of abc 7 take action campaign we have a list of local resources on gun safety. you can find your ally and connect with local lawmakers by going to abc 7 news.com/take action. police rushed to secure a pacifica high school after they found out about a threat made on social media. terra nova high school officials say a student reported the threat three days earlier. the post reportedly said a shooting would occur on noon may 18th at terra nova. that's today. school staff immediately contacted police and put the school into what they call secure campus mode. police say they are investigating the alleged threat. a santa cruz county sheriff deputy is recover after one of the people he detained tried to run him over. the woman was shot several times by another deputy. abc 7 news reporter chris wynn

has the story. >> reporter: along ocean street extension north of santa cruz residents are anxious about what happened in their neighborhood. >> people like myself or people just in this area going out for a walk and stuff we can't feel safe anymore. >> around 3:30 this morning two santa cruz county sheriff's deputies encountered a man and woman parked off to the side and moving items between two vehicles. deputies ran the plates and discovered one of the vehicles was reported stolen. the suspects were detained in separate patrol cars so deputies could determine who was driving which vehicle. >> while deputies interviewed the man the woman was able to slip out of handcuffs reach through a partially open window in the patrol car and open the door. the woman then entered the driver's side of the patrol car and without warning drove the vehicle at a deputies striking him and damaging both patrol cars. >> the second deputy fired several rounds hitting the female suspect three times. cpr was administered on scene and she was air lifted to a trauma center where she remains

in the icu. the deputy hit by the cruiser is expected to be okay. the sheriff's office has been increasing patrols in the area after getting complaints from neighbors in recent months. >> a habitation for prostitution, drug use, people bringing garbage. dump it out of the trucks down there. >> video of the incident which was captured by the deputies body-worn cameras will be released next we can by the sheriff's off. the female suspect faces attempted murder charges. in santa cruz, chris wynn, abc 7 news. new at 5:00, the suspect in a car crash that killed three people on interstate 80 in fremont this week is released from the alameda county jail tonight. abc 7 news anchor eric thomas is live at the jail to explain why. eric. >> reporter: well, dan and in california prosecutors have 48 hours to file charges against a suspect. after he or she is arrested. and the d.a. office says at this point they don't have enough

evidence that is why dang tran will be let out of the jail later on tonight. it is also why prosecutors have ordered the chp to continue their investigation. 21-year-old dang tran was booked into santa rita jail accused of driving too fast and under the influence of marijuana when he caused this crash on 880 near stephenson boulevard. a family consisting of a man woman and six daughters were in the suv that rolled over several times. 39-year-old knowle johnson, 14-year-old kristy limb as and her sister brook were killed. they were heddell hole to manteca offer celebrating another birthday in the bay area. tran's family show up yesterday for his arraignment which was postponed to today. but this afternoon word came down from the d.a. office that official charges wouldn't be filed and tran would be released. in their statement prosecutors say the investigation in this matter is ongoing and the d.a. office requires additional information as well as

investigation prior to making a charging decision. prosecutors have not said what information they still require from the chp investigation. as you can imagine, those close to the victims are not happy. family friend amy moony spoke with me on the phone about tran she said accepted quote we know he is responsible for their deaths. why haven't they opinion able to charge him? she also said quote they need to revoke his driver's license and passport so he can't get away. prosecutors appear to keep open the option of filing charges in the future when they think the evidence is supports it. at the santa rita jail, eric thomas, abc 7 news. stay with us more to come. another debt whale in the bay area, the second of the day. one in marin, the second in the east bay. where people nearby it turned into a bit of a show. bringing out the dogs. the tsa is expecting a very busy summer and they need some help. i'm meteorologist sandhya patel hiding into the weekend cooler weather on the way.

it's happened again. another whale wad washed up in the bay area. sky7 was over tennessee valley beach in marin county about an hour ago and spotted this carcass you are looking at. we are told 80s gray whale about 35 feet rung. just last week a gray whale washed up on angel island. and a whale carcass found in the oakland estuary has been towed to angel island. the marine center it's a aen trin whale the second largest creature on earth. laura anthony has the story. >> there is fish right here. >> this man and his dad decided this is a good day to fish at the elbowed estuary. when they arrived they were surprised by what they found. >> me and my father come out to
