riding a scooter. it happened in this intersection at bay and powell streets around 8:00 last night. you can see emergency crews on the scene caring for the rider two was wearing a helmet. details have not been released. we know the driver stayed at the crash investigators on middle field road. no injuries have been reported. middle field road had to be closed down. one residents grabbed a fire extinguisher when the fire started in the apartment below. >> the smoke was pretty thick, so i just ran downstairs and just ran across the street and watched it all go up in smoke.

welcome back. we are getting sunshine. you can see breaks in the overcast there. it is cool. low 50s towards san francisco. it is 55 in san jose. the wind, boy is that gusty here. over 20 miles per hour out of the west. it is 48 in napa. that wind and fog, our east bay and southern sacramento valley. it is going to be a cool afternoon. beta breakers we have the clouds, the race starting in about an hour and a half. a few breaks in the clouds.

we can feel the energy starting to build here at the starting line. lots of runners showing up and a sea of volunteer to control all of the chaos here. take a look. here is video from last race. 40,000 runners believe it or not will be braving this 7 mile course from downtown to the great highway. let's face it, it's about elite runners but also about the party experience. all of the costumes, they are amazingly creative. we just talked to one runner who keeps coming back year after year. meet philis! i'm running. it's my 35th year. i started running in the early 80s. i love it.
