>> you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. let's see how mike is going to start the week. >> the winds are the big story from yesterday. i wanted to start with those and show you, as i overlay them on a dry live doppler 7, they're only ten in concord, 14 in fairfield. they will pick up again this afternoon but i don't think we'll quite reach yesterday's levels. a beautiful shot from sutro tower. you can see the sun about to climb over, what cloud deck there is out there. expect a lot more sunshine today and temperatures to rebound. already in the low to mid 50s. staying in the mid to upper 50s at the coast all day. look at that, upper 60s with more sunshine at noon. upper 60s to low 70s at 4:00. we'll round it out with low to mid 60s at 7:00. let's get over to alexis and find out how the monday morning commute is. >> slowly and steadily filling in. walnut creek, southbound 680, brake lights filling in as you

approach highway 24. the only big problem that we did have this morning, crow canyon road was closed for about an hour and a half just outside san ramon. the closure at bollinger canyon due to a crash that involved a vehicle that went in a pond. we know one person is dead and that fatality investigation is under way right now. however, the roadway reopened about 15 minutes ago. abc 7's matt keller just got to the scene. there seem to be more questions and answers at this point. what can you tell us? >> i can tell you where this vehicle appeared to go through on crow canyon road. you can see the fence is broken off and appeared to go into the pond that's behind these bushes here. looked like it was a model s tesla vehicle. this all happened last night at about 8:30. the homeowner reported the car was in the pond.

divers were sent here, emergency crews spent hours trying to figure out if someone was inside the vehicle. now we know at least one person is dead. crow canyon was closed near bollinger canyon road. we were there as we were driving through and saw the chp to pick up cones. they allowed all the traffic to go through as alexis was saying, about 15 minutes ago. this investigation continues trying to determine why this week went off the road and into the pond. live in san ramon, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> a live desk update. there is a new threat in hawaii this morning as the kilauea volcano continues to erupt. it's a really big deal. lava now flowing into the ocean creating a toxic haze. it's actually called laze. this is new video from overnight showing you what happens when the lava hits the sea water. you see that huge plume of steam rising from the ocean laced with hydrochloric acid which can

irritate the skin and eyes and also cause breathing problems. >> can eat a hole in a cotton t-shirt in a matter of a couple of hours. it's really caustic. you don't want to be breathing this either. it can cause respiratory seizure. >> the haze is spreading as far as 15 miles off the big island's southern coast. geologists say they expect more eruptions. so far kilauea struck tirtures and 2,000 peopl remain evacuated. the school district will be closed through tomorrow and police say the guns belonged to the suspect's father. facebook said it deleted a number of fake profiles that were created claiming to be the shooter as early as 20 minutes after police named the suspect. >> facebook has removed the suspect's real profile. texas governor greg abbott issued a statewide call for a moment of silence for 8:00 this morning our time to honor the victims.

kelly clarkson took a different stance at last night's billboard music awards. >> tonight they wanted me to say that, obviously we want to pray for the victims and pray for their families. they also wanted me to do a moment of silence. and i'm so sick of moment of silence. it's not working, like obviously. sorry. so why don't we not do a moment of silence. why don't we do a moment of action, a moment of change, why don't we change what's happening? it's horrible. >> governor abbott said this week he will host roundtable discussions with parents, school officials and lawmakers to look into curbing gun violence in texas. a 16-year-old is recovering from major injuries after the car he was driving crashed in san jose yesterday morning. his 18-year-old passenger died. this happened on highway 101. the chp says the car was involved in a different crash that left their car between the passing lane and the lane next to it. officers say another driver could not avoid the car and hit

it. the 69-year-old driver was treated and released. the chp says alcohol and drugs were not involved in this crash. happening today in san francisco, a town hall to talk about the may 11th officer-involved shooting in the file moore district. officers were investigating an auto burglary. police detained maurice jones. investigators say another suspect, herschel hale got into a car and crashed into two police cars. that's where the shooting took place. hale drove off again before officers arrested him at civic center plaza. a palo alto pastor resigned after several disturbing tweets brought to the attention of the city council. associate pastor gregory stephens at first baptist church took several shots at older people, the police and palo alto itself. his tweets shocked city hall. >> i think as a parent you would not want your kids to be in that

congregation singing or interacting with the associate pastor. >> he could have made that critique in different language. maybe it would have been hospitable for at least some people. >> the senior pastor says stephens was frustrated partly because of a struggle between the church leasing to outside tenants. new developments in the future of a long-time san francisco mcdonald's. neighbors are clashing over what should happen to it. another crowd funding tech startup shuts down. backers are planning to file a class action lawsuit. you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. we're always desperate for chances of rain this time of year, and we've got some really minor ones, whether it's drizzle the next couple mornings or the chance of showers as we head into the weekend. i'll give you all that coming up in my accuweather forecast.

mateo bridge, heavy traffic at the toll plaza. a report of a disabled vehicle blocking the right lane past the midspan just before you get into foster city, seeing a delay form. following mass transit issue here, muni n judah lines delayed due to police activity. bus shotless operating inbound and outbound routes. 6:11 now. hundreds of people threatening to sue a startup that failed to deliver high tech headphones. ossic raised $6 million through crowd funding campaigns. tens of thousands of people pre ordered. over the weekend the company posted this letter saying it's out of money now, it's shutting down and not giving refunds. only a few dozen backers ended up getting their headphones. it could soon cost a lot more to build in san francisco.

of this closed mcdonald's. the city wants to build affordable housing for homeless youth at haight and stanion streets. there is significant pushback from neighbors who want a hub for community events. the mcdonald's closed in march after complaints about crime in and around the restaurant. some people in oakland hosted a huge barbecue at lake merritt dubbing it barbecuing while black. it's in response to last month's incident when a white woman was caught on cell phone video calling police on two black men for using a charcoal grill. she said that using that type of grill is illegal there. the bystander who filmed it said she believed the woman was targeting the men because of her race. >> if there's any ran she feels uncomfortable with people having a good time, why not come over here and join the fun so next time she won't have any reasons to call the cops. we're just over here unified and just enjoying this beautiful

>> kind of early. let's talk about what's going on weatherwise. time to get up, get out and go this monday morning. the sun is ready to energie you. you can see the cloud deck that we have out there. won't be as gray today. breezy and not expecting the damage we had with those trees falling like over the weekend. milder today. clouds return tonight bringing us a chance of drizzle. it will drop our temperatures down a little bit. a warming trend comes back and brings a chance of storms with it. most of the storms you can see on live doppler 7 up in the high country. that's where they'll be today as the counterclockwise flow grabs moisture off the ocean. for us it allows us to have a lit mole more sunshine. here is a look at our temperatures, 57 in daly city. sunset 58, everyone else in the low to mid 60s. east bayshore, you can see mid to upper 60s with castro valley

and fremont at 67. back to the peninsula, 67 in san mateo to about 58 in pacifica. as we head down to the south bay, average temperatures in the low to mid 70s. inland east bay neighborhoods mid to upper 70s with strong sunshine. one more neighborhood, up in the north bay it's going to be the warmest, from the low to upper 70s. tonight low to mid 50s. the cloud cover will drop our temperatures. the warmth comes back thursday, friday and saturday. slight chance of showers, too slight to put in the forecast. i'll keep an eye on traffic. >> we're looking live at the bay bridge toll plaza where we have reports of a disabled taxi having a mechanical issue past the metering lights. we have one lane blocked on the right-hand side. i'm not sure which lane is blocked. chp is on their way to the scene. definitely heavy here unless you're in the car pool lanes, you're stacking up into the maze. check out the ride through oakland, if you're heading north on 880 around the coliseum, our

look at your screen. this is an argument between two women outside a nail salon in tennessee that took a dangerous turn. the woman in the car is accused of not paying her bill, and this is how the worker decides to get the woman to pay. she holds on while the customer starts to back up. you got the idea. the customer took off. the worker was hanging on tight. the employee's family members say she jumped from the car a few blocks later. she had to be hospitalized. a local newspaper says police arrested the driver a short time later. not the best way to handle it. we'll go from that to janet jackson doing an amazing job last night at the billboard music awards. >> listen to some of her speech. ♪ >> we'll hear the speech but look at her dance and sing. >> if you've ever had the

done to fix it. good morning, amy. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. people planning to get to the heir port will find out they'll have to take a detour. here is why. you can see where the shutdown is. they just did this this morning. this close wrur is going to be in place for the next year. this is just north of the airport. this is the south airport boulevard bridge over this san bruno canal at north access road. they are shutting this down because they are afraid it will collapse. engineers found wooden and concrete columns that have deteriorated. this will impact people coming from san francisco, that north direction, who want to get to long-term parking. you will be rerouted. people from those hotels will also be impacted. locals, your costco is right here. if you are coming from the south, you will have to use a detour to get to costco. this will be in place for a year. they have plans to build a newbridge. that's going to take the next

six months. a spokesperson told me this morning they have been watching this bridge. they knew it had a certain life span. but it went faster than expected. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. dramatic new video shows the terrifying moments when snan rosa police evacuated housing during the north bay wildfires. our media partners obtained nearly eight hours of body camera footage from police. it shows these officers going door-to-door begging residents to leave their homes. >> what's your plan? >> just standing here with a hose. >> it's huge, one of the gig biggest i've ever seen. >> please, we need to get you out of here. you have two officers here now. >> ken and nancy survived because they eventually left this home in coffey park. nancy now visits the burned lot to search for one of her cats. she believes that cat survived the fire. she says looking back, she would have done things differently.

>> my cats would have been first, and then the family things. >> the couple plans to rebuild their home in coffey park. we're getting a better idea about the communication meltdown the north bay wildfires caused. a new survey finds 87% of 2,000 people asked lost cell phone service. 67% of them lost their land line service and 73% had no internet. that meant a lot of people couldn't be notified as the fire was heading their way. a consortium of government, business and community groups did the survey. they say investigating in a communication system that includes a critical backup has to be a priority. the texas high school that was the scene of the nation's latest shooting rampage will be closed today. the student killed eight students and two teachers. the victims were honored during a baccalaureate service last night. the schools graduating seniors were comforted as they grieved

for their classmates and were told the healing would take time. sources say 17-year-old dimitrios pagourtzsis studied previous mass shootings and incorporated aspects of those mass kearse into his own attack. a student describes the chilling details. >> he was playing music, making jokes while he was doing it. >> what was he saying. >> every time he would kill someone, he would say another one bites the dust. >> investigators are looking into the confrontation between the shooter and police. he was not hit in the attack even though officials say he was in a shootout with officers. here at home, happening today, elected officials will join high school students against gun violence to try to ban the gun show at cal palace. the chronicle reports this is the fourth try to ban the gun show. students from jefferson high school have spoken out against the show in the past.

a news conference this morning at 9:15 at the bayshore community center. crews will be on the lookout for more fallen branches due to the powerful weekend wind. at least three trees came down in san francisco yesterday. in martinez, check out this tree, it blocked both lanes of vine hill way between hidden observation and dixon lane. crews moved in quickly to remove it. the wind had the abc news roof cam overlooking san francisco bay bouncing. you can see a few sail boats out there taking advantage of the gusts. this morning we are finally getting some more details from the white house about an economic truce between the u.s. and china. i want to show you this, just minutes ago the president tweeting out more detail, under our potential deal with china, they will purchase from our great mayamerican farmers practically as much as our farmers can produce. we have learned during this newscast from the president's

surveillance video they may have to see if they spot a man accused of prowling around homes. police arrested hector leanos, junior on friday. they say surveillance video shows him looking into the bedroom window of one home and casing another. both hpedarlier this month. police tnk leanos may be involved in similar incidents and burglaries in the area. california's june 5th primary is two weeks away. if you haven't registered, you have until midnight tonight to get it done. the easiest way is to register online. you can mail in your registration form, but it has to be postmarked no later than midnight. remember you have to reregister if you have changed your address or your name. 6:46 now. happening today, president trump expected to officially order the justice department to investigate whether the fbi infiltrated his presidential campaign. the unofficial announcement came yesterday in this tweet. take a look. the department of justice responding saying it has
