when he didn't show up for a performance. an out of character move. >> i started calling to the different hospitals to see if he happened to be in any of the emergency rooms. i think people recognized me because i was calling so often. >> reporter: investigators say his tesla model s ended up in a pond near the border of san ramón in castro valley. >> it is believed that the vehicle could have gone airborne based on some of the damages to a sign located in the area. >> reporter: the chp said the homeowner notified them of a potential crash last night. they found debris but no car. the dive team was called in. investigates say his seat belt was on. his father said he used the auto pilot feature on highway but not on roads. >> i'm sure his day job was to

fund his passion for music. >> reporter: he would have been at band practice today ahead of a memorial day performance. >> he was a kind person and friend. i think that's how many of us will remember him. the chp is working on narrowing down a time line for this crash. they're looking for anyone who may have seen debris on the road before the first report at 7:50 last night. abc 7 news reached out to tesla to see if auto pilot was engaged at the time of the crash but tesla has not responded. there have been several crashes with tesla's auto pilot feature. earlier this month a driver said she was traveling at 60 per hour when she rear ended a

vehicle. in march an apple engineer died after his model x hit a barrier in mountain view, the auto pilot was engaged at the time of that accident. we have a report on abc 7.com click on sections, then i team. an investigation after a man fell to his death inside one of the terminals at san francisco international airport. this happened near baggage claim as traveler were collecting their belongings. >> reporter: a traumatic scene inside terminal three. passengers arriving saw this. a cordoned off area after a man fell from his death from the mezzanine two floors up. >> they had some paramedics there quick and tried to get him stabilized. there was a fair amount of blood in that area. it looked like he sustained some head trauma.

>> reporter: the incident happened just before 9:00 this morning as hundreds of passengers were picking up their luggage. these pictures show the scene moments after the fall. the coroner's office is looking at whether the man suffered a medical emergency before going over the railing. traffic in and out of the airport was impacted for nearly two hours following the incident as the sheriff's office conducted its investigation. officials would not confirm if he was a ticketed passenger or picking someone up. some called the incident unnerving. >> chaotic, a lot of people running around quacking at the >> reporter: the coroner's office will release the man's identity once the next of kin has been notified. as sfo chris winn, abc 7 news. >> foul play is not suspected.

if you have any information you're asked to call the sheriff's office. a domestic violence suspect is in custody after a four hour stand off in san francisco today. officers walked that man, in handcuffs as you see there, to an ambulance around 7:30 this morning. police closed off streets around the building. the suspect was taken to the hospital, his injuries are unknown at this time and there's no word on the other person involved in this alleged incident. residents on the big island of hawaii are dealing with another hazard from the eruption of the volcano. shards of glass billowed into the sky as lava poured into the ocean for a second straight day. residents are being told to stay in door after an eruption sent a smoke bloom about 7,000000000

air. marcie gonzalez with the latest. >> reporter: that 4-mile river of lava cutting a destructive path, this weekend devouring more homes and part of a highway. now for the first time since the eruptions began on hawaii's big island 2 1/2 weeks ago reaching the pacific. the lava is pouring into the ocean you can see the mountain of rock and the huge plumes pouring into the water, all of it next to homes. more e vak indications ordered as they are creating a laze haze. potentially causing lung, eye and skin irritation to anyone who comes in direct contact with it. >> it can eat a hole in a cotton t-shirts in a couple hours. >> reporter: with many of two

dozen fissures still spewing lava. a man standing on his balcony rushed to the hospital after a lava bomb shattered his lower leg. officials are saying more of these cracks in the earth could still open and the ash eruptions could continue for weeks. marcie gonzalez abc 7 use. >> we have live pictures to bring you from the big island as fountains of lava bubble into the air. it's beautiful, but it's so distrukting. >> it's amazing to see but your heart goes out to the people dealing with this. >> from my days of reporting on this before, this could go on for months p a friend of mine is an underwater photographer and

it's a netflix original series. with today's tweeted announcement, former president obama and michelle obama will become original content produ produce producers. probably a scripted series, uncryptu unscripted series, documentaries and features. sometimes they'll be on screen as hosts other times behind the scenes as producers p p they hope to encourage the voices that are able to create greater empathy and understanding between people. with 125 million subscribers worldwide, it gives them a chance to stay visible. they say it's part of a huge growth plan. >> it started with dramas and comedies and now moving to a more aspirational realm where they'll feature a former president and his wife in new scenarios for them.

mr. obama appeared on netflix as the first guest of david letter man's new series. now the commander in chief will command his own series. the financial terms were not released. we know it's a multiyear deal and the earliest it'll appear on netflix is next year. the relationship between oakland and marvel's "black panther" is highlighted again. it's featured on a special cover of a new comicomic. the owner commissioned it. this one will be out on wednesday. oakland has a prominent role in the new film. it was written and directed by oakland film maker, and the film opens with a scene set in 1990s oh, la oakland. >> a great movie. a fantastic movie. >> i hope to see it one day.
