live where you live, this is abc 7 news. a hayward police officer and a suspect recover from injuries after an officer-involved shooting last night on a quiet residential street. thank you for joining us, i'm kristen sze. investigators are looking into the circumstances that led the officer to fire her weapon as well as how exactly the officer got injured. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live at police headquarters where police are expected to release new information soon, matt? >> reporter: yes, kristen, we expected an update at 10:30, but investigators are still inside the meeting, and they are trying to decide what information they want to release to the public as their investigation continues.

this place is a quite cul-de-sac in hayward. last night was not normal. cynthia was in her kitchen at 7:00. >> i heard gunshots, sounded close, so i told my friend the lock the front door. we didn't know if somebody was running or what was going on. >> reporter: the gunfire came from the police. >> the officer felt that she was in fear for her safety and in self-defense dispensed the firearm. >> reporter: the suspect was hit by the gunfire and taken to the hospital. he's expected to survivor. the police officer was injured. she was not shot. she was taken to the hospital and treated and released. >> it's kind of crazy, but it is hayward. >> i've been living here all my life. it's very quiet. we know mostly everybody, so to have that happen here, it's sad. >> reporter: now, police are not saying what led up to the confrontation with the officer and suspect. we hope to learn details soon,

matt caller, abc 7 news. >> thank you. a rookie san francisco police officer could face charges after a shooting earlier this month. the department just released body camera footage of the incident. officers were investigating a car burglary at steiner street may 11th when a suspect got in a car and crashed into two police cars and an officer fired on the vehicle. >> get out of the car! get out of the car now! get out of the car! >> no onefu was hit by the gunfe and the suspect drove off again before being detained. rules are that the officer who fired should have had his body camera on at the time, but it was not activated. the rookie also violated the department's use of force policy by firing at a moving vehicle. it's a wet morning out there. take a look at the fog and drizzle behind me at the golden gate bridge, a live picture

there. if this is interesting, mike nicco has wetter weather later this week, mike? >> absolutely. the friday morning commute could be more impacted by wet weather than this morning or have dealt with this morning. hi, everybody, a look at the weather camera, may gray is stubborn, aggressive last night, hung out all through the morning hours and still there, look at the 24-hour temperature change, up to 8 degrees cooler than the sunshine we had at this time yesterday. i checked all the reporting stations, and above 800 feet, some was measurable, some of the reporting station, and .15 in some places. we are locked in the 50s and 60s until you get up in the sunshine in clear lake. 70s there. we'll look at the chances of drizzle tomorrow morning again and showers coming in thursday night into friday in my accuweather seven-day forecast. here's kristen with more news. >> thank you. three people rushed to the hospital after several cars collided on highway 4 in antioch at 10:30 last night in the

westbound lanes near hillcrest avenue. six vehicles were tangled up. one injury is major. lanes blocked for three hours until 1:30 this morning. the cause of the crash is under investigation. well, relief comes this week to commuters on that highway 4 corridor. the antioch bart extension opens saturday, two new lines coming online, and amy hollyfield says most are looking forward to the added service, but not everyone. >> reporter: some commuters still have to deal with this morning traffic. they have to push through it on highway 4 to get from antioch to pittsburgh. the location of the last bart station on the line. >> in the mornings, i don't get on there. i take the back streets. >> reporter: it's that bad? >> yes. >> reporter: heres the relief. from drone view 7, flying high

above the new antioch station. it starts carrying passengers this saturday. the 10-mile ride will be life changing for people getting to . this is an oakland resident trying to get to deer valley high school every day deep in antioch. takes 50 minutes on the bus so i can get a little more sleep, and it'll just save a lot of time and extra dollars from taking the bus. >> reporter: pittsburgh riders, however, are not as excited about this. they know it's going to be good for traffic, but say they are going to be losing their status as first on the train. >> we might actually have a possibility of not getting a seat, which is concerning, but, you know, as a commuter, i take it often enough, i think it's great for the rest of the traffic on highway 4. >> reporter: generally, a lot of enthusiasm about what the new trains will do for the congested area. this opening will be celebrated as a ribbon cutting ceremony on friday. in the east bay, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news.

the grand opening ceremony or celebration is underway now for the skyscraper that changed the face of the san francisco skyline. we're talking about the sales force tower, the tallest office building west of chicago. the top is hidden in the fog from this morning, but this is a live picture from the south beach camera looking at the tower. down on the ground right now, taking you down there, several dignitaries like sales force's ceo who are taking part in the opening ceremony. here's new video of the abc 7 news camera capturing it this morning. the building stands 1,070 feet tall and 60 stories of office space. employees are working hard inside. people started moving in back in january. we'll have much more on today's grand opening festivities later today on the abc 7 news app. happening tonight, sales force will officially unveil its day for night light installation

display with 11,000 led lights visible every night from miles away. we got an exclusive firsthand look at the installation of the lights. check it out. this is 1,000 feet up in the air, not for the faint-hearted. these lights will be shown at the top of the sales force tower illuminated for all to see. it starts tonight starting at about 8:00. the facebook ceo, mark zuckerberg, appeared before the european parliament in belgium this morning, again, apologizing for the scandal echoing what he said to congress last month. new rules take affect friday requiring companies to provide information about the data collected and offer consumers greater ability to opt out. zuckerberg talked about that today. >> we're going even further to comply with these strong new rules. we're making the same controls and settings available to people

who use facebook around the world. >> if companies fail to comply with europe's new rules, they face big financial penalties. new at 11:00, instagram is rolling out a mute future that will allow users to quiet followers without having to cut ties completely. the mute button lets people block out posts from followers, avoiding the awkwardness of unfollowing them. this rolls out as a temporary test in the next couple weeks. instagram's parent company, facebook, had a successful mute option for a while as well as a snooze feature that mutes posts for 30 days. coming up, an abc news exclusive. hearing from a man authorities call the most prolific sex traffickers in history of the county. a search for three

all four teenage suspects linked to the murder of a baltimore, maryland police officer are in custody. this was the officer, amy caprio, just showed up to the house authorities said three of the suspects were burglarizing yesterday when one of them, the getaway driver, ran her down, and this is his photo, the 16-year-old anthony harris is charged with first degree murder. his first court appearance began an hour ago. she died from her injuries. she would have been a four-year veteran of the department this july. new details on last week's deadly high school shooting in texas.

authorities say more schools across the state have been facing threats as the governor plans to begin round table discussions how to stop violence. here's more. >> reporter: we are learning more what happened in the high school when gunfire broke out friday. the sheriff revealed crucial moments officers were caught in a fire fight with the suspected gunman as students were evacuating. >> the two officers that engaged that individual, within four minutes or approximately four minutes are heros containing him in that one area, isolated to them, engaging with them. >> reporter: one of the officers, john bars, remains in the hospital. >> he's still not out of the woods, and his famti sy ll healthy yererscovery. >> reporter: more than 200 officers responded to the school ending the ordeal after 25 long and terrifying minutes. >> we heard him going back and forth shooting multiple times, and then it got silent, and he

sentenced to life in prison this friday, but before that happens, he's talking with abc 7 news. a jury convicted deandre louis of 37 felonies involving seven women at least. the charges include murder after one of the women abused by louis killed herself. louis says he's not a monster. >> at the end of the day, i've never made anyone do anything they did not want to do. anybody that's been around me is because they chose to and wanted to. >> threatened my family, he beat me on several occasions, held a gun to my head, you know, my son witnessed some of it, unfortunately. >> louis has spent the last four years in the jail in martinez. on friday, he'll find out if he's sentenced to at least 150 more years in state prison. a big honor prompted a big question. take a look. who is this? the reason everyone is talking about this plaque. and as far as weather goes, talking about needing an

today, about ten degrees cooler than average, drizz a fridayle, memorial day, already here, monday, and there's signs of summerth here's the forecast, the way the wind is a factor, high pressure to low pressure, and so all rain flows from this high to that low, and that's why it's going to be so gray today, and, again tomorrow, maybe lesser extent, but this is the low to watch as it slides down with showers for friday and possibly saturday morning. look at this, hardly any sun, mid to upper 50s, may get to 60 in the marina and mission, south san francisco, 61 if you're lucky. in the bay, clouds, and partly sunny this afternoon, mid to upper 60s. going to the game tonight? mariners in town to take on a good a's team, playing well lately, 57 degrees at 7:05, and 56 at 10:00, and increasing

clouds and a little breezy, so dress accordingly. as far as the peninsula, a lot of clouds this afternoon, more sun the further south you had, like in palo alto, and down in the south bay, there's sunshine, but temperatures falling below average, upper 60s, low 70s. there's signs of sun in the east bay valleys, upper 60s to low 70s until you go to highway 4 for mid-70s. north bay is upper 60s, 70s, and we got delays at sfo right now. you can see why. make sure you call ahead. cloud cover just not leaving, and it may not leave the entire day, and, in fact, if you see sun, it's at 4:00 or 5:00 and clouds quickly come back. don't expect a lot there. there's a look at the is 12-hour planner, and i only put sun on at noon because there's a little bit in the north bay in the east bay valleys, otherwise, it's cloudy with 50s and mid-60s,

clouds dominant at 8:00 and midnight and drizzle and mist fall. temperatures drop into the low to mid-50s, gray out there and little bit green for the drizzle. look at thursday at 5:00, and watching the overnight hours through friday morning, that's when we have the best chance of solid, steady, albeit light rain, and then we have a chance of showers friday into saturday morning it looks like before most of us wake up, and then the dry breezes blow in and bring sunshine, and then look what happens. sunday and monday, 60s at the coast, that's better than the mid-50s, and mid to upper 70s in the bay, and mid to upper 80s for sunday and memorial day monday. everybody's wondering where summer is. it's coming on memorial day like it should. >> great planning, mike. >> oh, it's all me, you're right. >> totally. >> you're welcome. >> thank you. oh, all season long, "roseanne" sparked headlines and debates over politics. we spoke with one of the stars
