stole thousands of dollars in sunglasses. surveillance video shows a man trying to break into eyes in disguise at 2:30 a.m. sunday. the suspect tried smashing the tempered glass, tried to put his arm through the glass and unlock the door but couldn't get in. that is, until someone who appears to be the same man where he smashed the glass and swiped what appeared to be fendi sunglasses. >> i was upset and couldn't sleep all night after the call. >> it seems to be happening not only here, other colleagues that have am tom tri stores, this is a new crime that's gaining popularity. >> thieves turn around and sell the sunglasses on ebay. san francisco police say both incidents are open investigations and the suspect who is unknown may be the same person. it is 4:30 now. if you're just joining us, a qick update on weather and

traffic where you live starting with meteorologist mike nicco. >> the winds have been the big story the last couple days. that's what's deep in the marine layer, brought us this unusually school stretch we're dealing with. gusting to 28 in fairfield. if you're trying to drive down 80, you're running into the head wayne. look at the 10-mile-per-hour wind in oakland. everything is still blowing from the ocean to our neighborhood. so my accuweather 12-hour planner shows cooler than average temperatures, drizzle through the morning commute. we'll see a little more sunshine today than yesterday. for some areas that means we'll see some sunshine today. temperatures still going to be well below average, 57 at the coast, 67 around the day. still have a chance of showers coming up in the forecast. we'll detail that next. here is alexis. >> taking a look at things on our traffic cameras. southbound 280 through walnut creek.

we did have a disabled vehicle reported around the 24 interchange, but that has cleared. not seeing residual delays for that. westbound 580 tracy to dublin, a why wind advisory, southbound 680 dublin to physician boulevard at 14. it is now a best dch or-three series. >> the warriors and rockets will pay a pivotal game five tomorrow night in houston. last night golden state scored only 12 points in the fourth quarter. the rockets came back to beat the dubs 95-92. the series is now tied 2-2. the warriors weren't the only ones who lost lost lost lost lot lisa amin gulezian has the detai details. >> reporter: a team of undercover homeland security

it has the hologram and proper licensing. but anything that has strength in numbers and doesn't have the proper licensing and this type of a tag, it's counterfeit. >> they took thousands of dollars of fake merchandise off the streets. lisa amin gulezian, abc 7 news. morgan hill police are reaching out to find a group of daytime burglars. morgan hill police released photos of two men they're looking for. the most recent burglary was yesterday morning. the suts expects park their vehicles in the area, walk to the front door of the home and force their way in. investigators say they have seen a spike in burglaries in just the past week. >> there will be a major announcement in the east bay this morning. berkeley city leaders will formally reveal their plan to make the berkeley police commission independent from the city council and city manager. it will give the commission the ability to select future police chiefs. if approved, voters would have a final say this november.

i'm here at the live desk, tracking the effort to save a geothermal plant in hawaii. it's threatened by lava. we mentioned the plant yesterday. this is life images coming in, a live look at that lava spewing on hawaii's big island. yesterday this lava destroyed a building near the geothermal plant in question. officials say the plant is stable right now. workers have actually plugged up the energy well to prevent toxic gases from seeping out of there. officials are monitoring the situation very closely this morning because you still very active and any of these gas levels could spike up and prompt a mass evacuation. i'll keep checking. neighbors in marin county have a month and a half to weigh

afternoon. ferry ride, not only do we have the drizzle, we have a as a matter of law craft advisory north of the bay bridge. let's look at san francisco. a little more su yesterday. mid to upper 50s. mid 50s until we get from 1:00 to 5:00. let's go down to the south bay. a little bit warmer with a little more sunshine. 57 at 8:00. sun starts breaking through the cloud deck earlier at 10 loch. by 2:00, in total sunshine and near 70. about 30% of us are getting drizzle this morning. about 20% of us get showers thursday. look at that. nearly half of us get wet weather friday. we'll look at that coming up next. first i want to bring in alexis in here. spinouts already. >> you're not surprised, are you? >> no. >> a lot of folks driving too fast for conditions. probably will have the wipers on this morning, too.

i know i certainly did for my entire drive in from the east bay. it is fairly widespread, although it is light enough and low enough it's not getting picked up by radar. taking a look at our traffic maps, we have an issue if you're going to be traveling around sfo we had a spinout crash earlier that sounds like a second person just crashed in that area due to debris from the first crash. not looking too soggy in the south bay, san jose, highway 87, right around the san jose airport, not seeing any major delays. of course, the volumes are light as well. next traffic update in less than ten minutes. b.a.r.t. getting ready for its next big expansion. details are up in the air. media partners of the bay area news group, the b.a.r.t. board will consider the expansion at its meeting tomorrow. two big options under consideration. option a extending the dublin-pleasanton line to is bale. option b, build a less costly

sunday and monday. on either side of that, plenty of chances of showers and thunderstorms. hi, everyone. i quickly want to show you what is happening in france right now. facebook ceo mark zuckerberg and about 50 other tech bosses meeting with the french president right now. this meeting actually just began a short time ago. this is brand new video i got from the commercial break. the meeting today is aimed at persuading tech companies to fight hate speech and invest in tech literacy for the public. it comes one day after mark zuckerberg faced tough questions yesterday from european lawmakers. you can see the photo opinion there. the meeting just getting going right there. yesterday you'll remember that zuckerberg had to apologize the way facebook has been used for fake news and interfering with elections. we'll see what happens with this meeting later today. the bay area sports hall of fame saying it will redo a

the fully finished sales force tower. >> carl the fog had other ideas. abc news reporter kate larsen has the details. >> reporter: a symbolic switch for the sales force tower which for better or worse has become a symbol of a changing san francisco. sales force employees celebrating at 11,000 l.e.d. lights are turned on, glowing through a cloud of fog. san francisco artist jim campbell created the light display. >> the bay bridge lights are on every night. it's just adding to the architecture and the landscape of the city. i think the skyline is going to be pretty cool. >> lights could add a little something special to it. you change colors when the giants win, when the ar yors win. >> annette neely is a long-time san francisco resident. works near the tower and is not a fan. >> it's not pretty. >> even though the light installation will make visibility at night from 20 miles away, neely is hoping the

going to happen, and maybe not tonight either. as we get deeper into the weekend you'll be able to see more of that funness and art. let's talk about what's going on out there. you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. look at that. temperatures once again in may in san jose just like everywhere else, much cooler than average. in fact, we could put yesterday's up there as below average also. so six out of about 22 days temperatures are above average. here is a look at walnut creek this morning. we've got morning drizzle and cooler-than-average temperatures. cloudy, less drizzle. showers possible. opens up to summer warmth just as the holiday weekend arrives. 66 in milpitas, cupertino, the same thing. that's a little warmer than yesterday. low to mid 60s on the peninsula, still a little chill there, not like what we're dealing with at the coast with mid to upper 50s

once again and breezy conditions. downtown we may make it to 60. same thing in sausalito. low to mid 60s through most of the north bai valleys with clouds lingering long like they did yesterday. around 66 in fremont. still 63 in berkeley and oakland. as you move inland, temperatures mid 60s to upper 60s. antioch and brentwood is where we have low to mid 70s. a look at tomorrow morning, you can see as far as wetness, pretty quiet. scattered light showers possible tomorrow. but as we head into friday's morning commute, that's when we'll have our best chance of steady rain. so if you think this morning's commute is a little tough because of the drizzle, friday's may be even worse. 70s for saturday, 60s to 80s sunday, monday and tuesday. we're not seeing major problems. we have a handful of crashes already this morning. let's take you to the richmond area where we've got a crash on

westbound 80 involving a box truck that took out some barrels before you get to cutting boulevard initially. they made it off to the shoulder. emergency crews are there now blocking that far right lane. if you are coming in from herk keys, starting to see a bit of a delay. once you make it to the bay bridge toll plaza, no metering lights yet. we have a stackup in the cash lanes once again. fast track users, no delays there. car poolers, you're cruising there. cash, you have to wait a few extra minute. amazon under fire forgiving away face recognition technology to police. >> you can now mute your friends on instagram without them knowing it. here is your tech bites. >> in today's tech bites, concerns over amazon's facial recognition software. >> the activist groups say it could infringe on privacy rights. amazon started selling the software to law enforcement
