and i think that sometimes that's lost in the conversation about the flag. now that it's come up again you wonder if players will say and teams will say we have to continue to support our players if they want to take action during the an hem. >> it got lost because the message was hijacked from the beginning. looking at the reaction of the jets ownership to say we're not going to do that, we're going to support our guys, i can say as a former player, if you're on another team and you're watching this, you're thinking to yourself, that's the kind of place where i want to go. i want to support an organization like that. >> it's a key part of the rule. the league tried to say let's handle it. if there's a problem and we see a violation, we'll penalize a team so let's let teams do what they want. if some say i don't like that, i'll punish them and there are other teams that feel i'll let that happen and support it, then that's what's going to happen. they'll let teams figure it out and since they voted highly in favor of the measure you think the amprobably agree with that.

exceptionally written, almost emotional. you can hear president trump's sorrow at having to do this. he says, i was very much looking forward to being there with you, kim jong-un. sadly, based only the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, i feel it is inappropriate at this time to have this long planned meeting. he went on to say, because the north koreans in a statement yesterday had excoriated vice president pence, calling him a political dummy and saying he was ignorant and stupid and saying we can meet you in a meeting room or have a nuclear showdown, president trump answering in kind as usual saying, you talk about your nuclear capabilities but ours are so massive and powerful that i pray to god they will never have to be used. then he says this, i felt a wonderful dialogue was building up between you and me. he goes on, some day i look very much forward to meeting with you. so the news, president trump canceling the summit. the rhetoric from north korea just getting too hot. also, north korea had never

gotten any clarity, delivered any clear message on what they were willing to do in a prospective nuclear deal, but president trump saying, at the end of the day he hopes for the sake of the world and for the same of the north korean people they can do this summit some day. amazing developments here. in north korea, the destruction of that site and then president trump taking decisive action to cancel the summit. george. >> lots of maneuvering. terry, thanks very much. to the white house where jared kushner now has his top security clearance restored after months in limbo and a second extensive interview with robert mueller's team. our senior white house correspondent cecilia vega has all the latest. this is significant good news for kushner. >> reporter: it really is because this delay in granting kushner the security clearance raised questions that perhaps special counsel robert mueller's team maybe found some kind of evidence that made kushner a security threat but now more than a year into this administration he's got that clearance. it comes after kushner sat down

for a second very long seven-hour interview with the mueller team. there were questions focused on kushner's time in the campaign during his time in the transition, and of course, we're told extensive questions about his foreign contacts during all those moments. but you know, george, kushner's attorney says mueller's team and other prosecutors made it clear they do not believe kushner has done anything to merritt him being charged so good news for him today. >> the big meetings also today between the heads of the fbi, justice department and top congressional officials over unfounded allegations that president trump called spygate. no evidence that the fbi infiltrated the trump campaign but the members of congress will learn about this informant who met with trump officials. >> reporter: zero evidence about this one and the president seems to have clearly made up his mind. he is no longer implying spies have infiltrated his campaign, he is insisting it happened and republicans have been demanding to see these classified documents about surveillance. the justice department said they didn't want to turn them over. they were fearful that confidential sources could be

this is still a very active eru. lava is spewing in some cases hundreds of feet into the air here i want to show you new video from overnight. we're not only seeing these large orange lava fountains but blue flames in some cases coming out of the ground. very unusual site and that is happening because of methane gas that is trapped underneath the lava. you mentioned cracks. some residents are coming home to find cracks that are ten feet wide in some cases running hundreds of feet through their yards. there are two big concerns here. the first that lava is creeping toward a highway and if it crosses that highway, a thousand people could be cut off so the national guard is coming up with a plan to use helicopters to get those people out. the second worry, toxic gases. the trade winds right now are blowing them away from us but if that changes there could be more evacuations on the way, robin. >> clayton, thank you. george. we'll take a look at a candid new documentary on the life of senator john mccain. the 81-year-old is home battling

"harper's bazaar" about top secret meetings with meghan markle as she designed the dress the world was waiting to see. ♪ >> reporter: the world watched as clare waight keller, artistic director of givenchy, met meghan at the steps of st. george's finally revealing the biggest kept secret for months, who would design the royal wedding gown. >> the wedding dress was a real labor of love for clare and meghan and took five fittings to get it just right. >> reporter: the saga starts back in december when a phone call from meghan's friend jessica mulroney urged her to pick a designer asap and she made her choice. >> their relationship started in january where they quickly became friends texting ideas back and forth to each other, of course, they had to keep it top secret. so the designer couldn't even tell her husband. they had to meet secretly at kensington palace or clare's private studio in west london.

>> reporter: in february, two teams signed nondisclosure agreements and got to work in secret. one at the house of givenchy's paris headquarters and the other at an undisclosed london warehouse. the finished gown was transported to windsor castle for a final fitting in may. >> for its final weeks the dress was secretly stored away at windsor castle but, of course, meghan spent her final night as a single woman at cliveden house which is ten miles away so they had to secretly transport the dress over there in the middle of the night with no one watching to get it ready in time for meghan to get ready for the morning. >> she was just glowing and you just saw the love in their eyes during the ceremony, and i was so proud to be part of it. it was a wonderful moment for both of them and i'm really proud. he just came up to me and said, oh, my gosh, she looks incredible. >> reporter: another surprising detail. the close friendship between the couple and amal and george clooney. they were among just a handful of very close friends seated in the quire alongside harry's royal friends.

really appreciate it. alisha, we saw your character there and coming off the me too movement, your character jessica is recovering as a sexual assault survivor. moments, what were your thoughts when you read about this story line. >> i was incredibly excited to start. i knew it was such a relevant topic and when i booked season one i didn't know how to have the dialogue. i didn't have the language to express that i was 19, and after filming season one, i was able to have an open dialogue with my mom, my family members and my girlfriends so i learned a lot. >> i'm sure this show has had so many people talking at the dinner table and, katherine, i want to ask about it. it sparked a lot of conversations. what has been your reaction to these headlines? some have been good and some have not. >> well, i think, you know, the

show always had the intention of never being a psa but always just having the intention if it can to promote discussion or instigate discussion and dialogue an issues really important and on topic and for me playing hannah obviously like i was aware of the difference of opinion and always maintained i think that was important to promote the discussion but also for me, it's just been so beautiful to kind of hear from people who resonated with the show and who resonated with hannah in particular. >> and this show resonates -- i mean i have 13-year-old twin girls and this is a show within the realm of what they would watch and touches on a lot of issues, bullying, sexual assault, gun violence. why do you think it's important for viewers to watch your character and what he's going through that made him bring a gun to school? >> right. firstly, you know, i think we all want to give our condolences to the victims and the families involved in sante fe and, unfortunately, the incredible amount of tragedies that are happening lately. i think now more than ever young

people's voices are being heard and they're incredibly powerful messages and doing such an incredible job of not letting the conversation die down and holding people's feet to the fire so i think we really wanted to be a part of that discussion. we wanted to be able to, you know, take our platform. even though no one wants to hear from actors about what we need to be doing, i think because of the show and because of the widespread kind of audience that it has, it's given us the platform to be able to stand behind those people and raise their voices and their messages louder than ever so we can continue to spread this dialogue and conversation. >> yeah, well said. [ applause ] very well said. and ross, you and katherine get to show some of the lighter sides of the show, so how do you guys bond away from shooting these scenes? >> right, yeah, well, when we're not shooting the heavy scenes we need to decompress so go see a

lot of movies together, not just me and katherine, we all do. yeah, exclusively -- we exclude everybody else. it's thought me and katherine, no, we have game nights and group chat with all 20 of us in it so it's sometimes we get off set and have 100 text messages from everybody so we're just a big family, yeah. >> i know, christian, you share some heartfelt scenes with kate walsh and she said it was exhausting but exhilarating at the same time. how was that for you? >> it's a master class for me. i grew up watching kate on tv doing her thing every week and to be able to stand on a set and go toe-to-toe with her was exciting and exhausting as she said. i mean, it was exhilarating but also the material that we're dealing with is really complex and compounded so we had a lot of fun but i was just so grateful she just was willing to teach me and sort of carry me along on this journey so i love her. i love kate walsh wherever you are. you a block party and we have it and chef scott conant right here with us bringing us tips for the perfect cookout. good morning. let's talk grilling. >> good morning. first of all, do you smell this? it smells so good. >> i can't handle i'm so hungry. >> do you guys smell this? doesn't it smell great? a few things i like to do. it's important to grillo and slow. i keep half the grill on a higher temperature, the other half much lower temperature. >> so sear it first. >> then cook covered and what i like to do also take wood chips, put them either on the grill or underneath the grill and when it's closed it really -- it smolders and just makes the food taste great. smoke really permeates. >> i love a good smolder. >> and i like to grill directly on cedar planks. >> i've done that with fish.

all right. >> so we got some pork shoulder that's in a few different phases. we start it in a cast iron pot just like this and then after half-an-hour we add some vegetables to it, right? we add a little bit of broth as well. let it cook for a few minutes. once it starts to cook then we glaze it like this with this beautiful king's hawaiian barbecue sauce, right? after it's done after about two hours we let it rest and we break it up just with two forks we make this beautiful -- we can add more sauce if we want. some more of the king's hawaiian barbecue sauce. >> everything is better on this bread. >> it's iconic. a little bit of coleslaw and end up with a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw, delicious. >> so excited for summer. sausage and peppers on a hot dog bun. >> that's right. so we take these vegetables and cook them directly on the cedar plank and it permeates full of flavor. the sausage, we can either cut the sausage up or -- >> or throw it all together. >> i want to make sure, scott, to say thank you. we have to get this in. this is an important part of

we're coming on the air with breaking news. president trump is at a bill signing at the white house but the big news, his bombshell announcement earlier today that the june 12th summit in singapore with korea's kim jong-un is off. let's listen in. >> i have decided to termite the planned summit in singapore on je 12th. while many things can happen and a great opportunity lies ahead potentially, i believe that this is a tremendous setback for north korea and indeed a setback for the world. i've spoken to general mattis and the joint chiefs of staff and our military which is by far the most powerful anywhere in the world, and has been greatly enhanced recently as you all know, is ready if necessary. likewise i have spoken to south

korea and japan, and they are not only ready should foolish or reckless acts be taken by north korea, but they are willing to shoulder much of the cost of any financial burden, any of the costs associated by the united states in operations if such an unfortunate situation is forced upon us. hopefully positive things will be taking place with respect to the future of north korea. but if they don't, we are more ready than we have ever been before. north korea has the opportunity to end decades of poverty and oppression by following the path of denuclearization and joining the community of nations, and i

hope that kim jong-un will ultimately do what is right not only for himself but perhaps most importantly what's right for his people who are suffering greatly and needlessly. all of the korean people, north and south, deserve to be able to live together in harmony, prosperity and peace. that bright and beautiful future can only happen when the threat of nuclear weapons is removed. no way it can happen otherwise. if and when kim jong-un chooses to engage in constructive dialogue and actions, i am waiting. in the meantime, our very strong

sanctions, by far the strongest sanctions ever imposed, and maximum pressure campaign will continue as it has been continuing. but no matter what happens and what we do, we will never ever compromise the safety and security of the united states of america. i wanted to make that statement. i feel very, very strongly about it. our military, as you know, has been greatly enhanced. we'll soon be at a level that it's never been before. our approval of $700 billion this year and $716 billion next year largely due to the help of a lot of the people with me today and standing right here,

we appreciate. but we had to do that for our military and we've done it and hopefully everything is going to work out well with north korea. a lot of things can happen, including the fact that perhaps that it's possible that the existing summit could take place or a summit at some later date. nobody should be anxious. we have to get it right. okay. with that being said, we have something else which i have to tell you all of you chairmen, mike and everybody, it ways big deal until this came up. i don't know, where's mike crapo? where are you? congratulations, you did a great job but it doesn't seem so important now. but it is important. >> you've just been listening to president trump at the white house today announcing why he decided to call off his summit, the june 12th summit in singapore with north korea's kim
