bridge. believe it or not, that is not the only semi fire we're dealing with this morning. >> a holiday weekend for so many of you. meteorologist mike nicco has more on the wet weather. >> first lets get to alexis. what's going on out there. >> two big headaches, both truck fires. we'll try to keep these straight for you here. eastbound 80 just before you get to the carquinez bridge, that's where we have just one lane open right now. that's due to that major semi fire that jackknifed anti 1:20 this morning. the driver was airlifted to an area hospital with some injuries and then we had a secondary crash past the scene of the truck fire. here is the latest. one lane is open but still a sig alert. still seeing delays. i suggest taking highway 4 and using the benicia bridge instead. our second fire is on 880. i'll show you video from that in just a moment.

right now let's get over to mike nicco. >> hi, everybody. the storm impact scale, hasn't changed. still a one. looks like mother nature will add insult to injury and make things wetter as we head through the morning commute with the spotty light showers. less than .15 inch, but it doesn't take much for spinouts to occur. we'll take a look at tracy. we have a lot of folks that come in from the central valley. it looks like the altamont pass is about to get wet in the next 15 to 25 minutes. you can see things are pretty quiet here as we look from our road camera. but at any time this morning up until about 4:00, you'll have waves of light showers roll through your neighborhoods, and it will start to taper after 7:00 to just really isolated light showers. those temperatures today, we start in the mid 50s, stay in the mid to upper 50s at the coast, low to mid 60s for the rest of us. another fall-feeling day outside. breaking news from the abc 7

live desk. >> the breaking news, if you're just waking up with us. harvey weinstein just turned himself into police in new york. it happened only about a half hour ago. the disgraced hollywood producer reportedly being charged with rape. we expect charges against him to be that he raped one woman and forced another to perform oral sex on him. this comes after a seven-month investigation by police. a brand new look from what we had earlier, new images and angles walking into the nypd precinct. these criminal charges against weinstein are the first since dozens of women started coming forward accusing the film producer of sexual misconduct. he's also under investigation in los angeles and london. right now he's still inside that precinct. he'll then go to court and be arraigned on charges. we expect him to receive a very high bail. natasha? >> jessica, thank you. b.a.r.t. will not be going to livermore, at least not any time soon. >> this is a controversial vote. the board voted down the

francisco police officers involved in two deadly high profile shootings. the first shooting was mario woods in december 2015. officers were seen surrounding him an ordering him to drop a knife. it ended with a barrage of gunfire. the other shooting happened in april of 2016. a man was shot after he charged at an officer with a kitchen knife. abc 7 news was at the hall of justice when the announcement was made. >> the conflict that i have is that i don't necessarily believe that the use of force was necessary, but the law doesn't necessarily care about whether it was necessary or not. >> mario woods mother says the system let mario and her family down. the lawyer representing both families talks about the decision. >> this is just more of the same from what is supposed to be a half o justice but has turned into a hall of injustice. >> the public defender called the decision mind-boggling.

the san francisco police officers association says in both cases the police acted within the department's rules. five big oil companies want a judge to dismiss lawsuits from oakland and san francisco. the cities claim the companies are a public nuisance by producing and promoting oil and natural gas fuels, saying it's forcing them to spend billions on insfra structure to protect people from rising sea levels. it may be several months before a decision is made. muse, the killers, bruno mars, snoop dogg and on and on, you anti even read all those musicians who will be at bottlerock in napa. >> the timing is interesting. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield live with more. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. traffic, we're also hearing about rain. those will be issues. but concert goers seem ready to

you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. i hope those 40,000 people are ready for random showers today. temperatures at 65. they'll need the sunglasses and eventually the short sleeves as you head from saturday to sunday. much more agreeable weather to be outside. wanted to show you the storm in tracy once again because now it's dropping lightning. there is lightning and thunder on the storm as it bears down on tracy. it's going to move right across discovery bay, oakley, brentwood and antioch. it's going to skirt that lower elevation on the eastern side of mt. diablo over the next hour or so. we also have showers developing and some yellows and oranges in the napa valley. a brief downpour is possible in this area over the next 15 to 20 minutes as they also moves to the northwest. right now we're looking at the golden gate bridge. it looks fairly dry right here. beaches today, chilly showers, out and about, it will be drippy at times. you may want to take the umbrella. it's going to be cool and humid

because of the scattered showers. san francisco, shower at any time. temperature 56 at 10:00. upper 50s from noon to 6:00 dropping back down to the mid 50s with a decrease in the chance of showers during the evening and overnight hours. in the north bay starting in the mid 50s, going to about 60. showers at any time through about 6:00 and dropping down at 8:00 into the mid to upper 50s. lows today mainly only in the 60s. a good five to 15 degrees below average. low to mid 50s tonight. notice the clouds starting to break up in the north bay. that's the trend for the weekend. the trend this morning, it's been accidents. here is alexis. >> no kidding. fooirs involving semis, too. this is one of two big problems this morning. this one is in oakland, northbound 880 right around the hegenberger road area. caught fire around 3:15 this morning. the driver was able to make it off to the shoulder and pull over. they had to stop all lanes of traffic for about 20 minutes until they got this tapped out. cleanup is under way.

i'll give you the hour-by-hour look in a few minutes. in morning milwaukee bucks rookie sterling brown is speaking about the police body camera shows him getting tased by officers for a parking violation. this happened in january. the video was just released the week. brown breaking his silence and talking exclusively with "good morning america" anchor robin roberts. brown promised legal action against the city. >> this happens from coast to coast. it's something being shown more now that technology has advanced, something happening for years and stories have not been told. people's stories have not been heard. i feel like me doing this, it helps a lot. >> the officers who acted inappropriately have been disciplined following an internal investigation. you can watch robin roberts' interview with sterling brown on

gma on abc 7. this is new video out of north korea that apparently shows the demolition of a nuclear test site earlier today. journalists from around the world were invited to witness it. this comes just a day after president trump canceled the u.s. summit with north korea. secretary of state mike pompeo is blaming the north saying the company's recent rhetoric says it was unprepared to meet. it's 5:16 now. a new report reveals a huge spike in fentanyl related deaths. a record number of people died in california after overdosing last year. fentanyl is many times stronger than many prescription pain killers and heroin. nearly 750 people died from fentanyl overdoses in 2017, three times more than the previous year. the highest number since public health officials began tracking the numbers in 2008. the family of a san jose man found dead in an alley has raised enough money to give him

a funeral. yesterday police identified the victim at 28-year-old renee morales. a fund-raising campaign for him started several days ago and reached its goal last night. morales was found dead in an alley on second street on may 18th. the investigation into how he died is on going. the california supreme court ruled social media companies like facebook can turn over public user content to criminal defendants preparing for trial. this case stemmed from a san francisco drive-by shooting. the defendants want content by a victim and a witness. social media companies had argued that a federal privacy law prevents the release of any user content. an oregon couple has unplugged all the amazon echo devices in their home. they did so after one of those devices recorded a personal conversation and then sent it to a random person in their contact list: that acquaintance called

showers. chance of showers, they're going to taper tonight. that will lead us to some warmer weather this weekend. wild temperature swings, talking about warming up 20, 25 degrees, and then cooling, 20 degrees all within about a five-day span. let's jump in to what's going on right now. richmond you can see heading down through albany and berkeley. just moving across berkeley up to richmond and also hit emeryville in oakland. tiburon, sausalito, belvedere all getting wet. more wet weather rotating up the peninsula. it's mainly just springsless right now. if you're heading through the santa cruz mountains, they're taking the bulk of the wet weather and leaving the santa clara valley. up until noon, plenty of green out there and a slight chance of thunder across the north bay. 7:00 this evening, the clouds open up a little bit. still a random shower around. that will be the case from

midnight all the way till about 8:00 tomorrow morning when the santa cruz mountains in the diablo range can be wet. notice the gray going around. how much will fall on your neighborhood? some of us may not receive anything. the rest of us less than .1 inch. wild temperature swings. 50s, 60s, 70s. not bad. monday and tuesday, 60s in the coast, 80s around the bay. it stops. wednesday and thursday back in the 50s, 60s and 70s. turn it over to alexis. a lot to talk about. >> sure do this morning. we've got video here of one of our two major problems. this is eastbound 80 before you get to the carquinez bridge. you saw all those flames, the semi jackknifed around 1:20 this morning and burst into flames. we have injuries reported to that driver although we don't know the extent of them. a huge emergency response. we had a full freeway closure

for about two hours this morning. and then even when they did get one lane back open we had a secondary crash as vehicles started to move past it. here is the latest. we have the secondary crash cleared to the shoulder although we have an ambulance on the scene, and we have just one lane open past the scene of this burned semi. it is still a sig alert. we've got a couple miles of heavy traffic approaching the scene. this is all a on eastbound 80 in the crockett area. so the countercommute direction. you can use highway 4 or coming sky way for an alternate and use the benicia bridge instead. just getting rid of a spin osh out cash, a vehicle going about 90 miles an hour at the south end of the robin williams tunnel. that is blocking the two left lanes. a quick check of conditions in the area. this is a look at the golden gate bridge. seeing a sheen on the pavement. we could have wet roadways out there this morning, too. next update coming up just before 5:30. coming up, the seven things

he was walking along the rocks with friends when he fell into the surf. his friends tried to find him with no luck. they had to drive to get help due to no cell service. aer lingus passengers at sfo stranded for 24 hours are finally on their way to dublin, ireland. they were delayed after their plane clipped a wing after landing wednesday. many passengers were trying to make it in time for a historic vote. a referendum could overturn the country's near total ban on abortion. >> very happy to go home tomorrow for a vote. >> the aer lingus plane departed sfo just before 9:00 p.m. and is scheduled to land in dublin just before 7:00 a.m. our time. speaking of planes and trains and automobiles. no matter how you're leaving for a long weekend, expect heavy

traffic. >> the rest of you may end up being stuck with those heading out of town. the number of people driving somewhere for memorial day is significantly up. abc 7's matt is live in san jose. >> reporter: good morning. i have a good tip for everybody this morning e specially for the people living in san francisco. aaa says the busiest time to travel over the memorial day weekend in san francisco is going to be this afternoon from 3:00 to 5 doo 30. you'll be mixing in the commuters with the holiday travelers who will be hitting the road that day. there will be a lot of holiday travelers out there. aaa says more travelers will travel this weekend than in 12 years. delays on major roads could be three times longer than normal. san jose's airport will be filled with memorial weekend travelers and also people coming in for graduations this weekend. they expect 17% increase in travel compared to last year at this same time. even the trains will be packed.

amtrak is expecting 320,000 customers over the next week. now we're starting to see a few sprinkles in san jose. that can make the commute a little messy. live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. san francisco residents will no longer have to dodge those electric scooters, at least for now. officials announced scooter companies in the city are required to remove all of their scooters from city side walks by june 4th. that's when a new one-year pilot program goes into effect requiring scooter companies to apply for permits. companies like lime, spin and bird need to present plans to address illegal sidewalk riding and parking. they also have to disclose how data is protected. >> i think it's a great idea. if you're not really a scooter -- you don't know the rules of the road. >> lime issued a statement in response to the pilot program saying they're excited to apply for a permit and will comply with the city's request. they also say they recognize there's still a learning curve

for many riders. starting june 4th, any scooter found on the streets of san francisco upright or not will be subject to impounding and a $100 a day feen. i'm going to jump in here, president trump has just called north korea's response to that canceled summit warm and productive. as always, i'm monitoring the president's twitter feed. he said very good news to receive the warm and productive statement from north korea. we will soon see where it will lead and hopefully to long and enduring prosperity and peace. only time and talent will tell. this echoes what president trump said yesterday saying he does hope to one day have the summit, just not right now. back to you guys. heads up if you're heading to the beach this memorial day weekend. an advisory in effect for lovers point beach because of high levels of bacteria. the mochbt ray county health department says water samples

to fade and so does the gray which are if clouds. that's the clearing trend. it will bring us significantly warmer weather for the rest of the holiday weekend. as far as the weather, pretty busy this morning. traffic is busy. supposed to be a holiday friday. >> i thought we would have a light morning, but that is not the case. we've had several major issues. starting off with this one on eastbound 80 just before the carquinez bridge. a semi jackknifed around 1:20 this morning and then burst into flames. what you're seeing is the cleanup effort at this point. we did have some injuries reported to that driver. we had a full freeway shut down for about two hours. we have one lane getting by, three lanes are blocked. unfortunately we had a secondary crash just as soon as they release traffic through this scene, and i just got a sad update. one person died as a result of that secondary crash. this investigation is on going. this is likely going to be a long-term issue.

>> i'm going to start you off with one of our two major problems this morning. this is the other one on 880 in oakland at hegenberger road. our second semi fire of the day. this happened a little after 3:00 this morning. everyone made it out okay. they had to stop traffic totally for about 20 minutes. right now they only have the far right lane blocked. things are improving. they have caltrans on the scene with equipment to offload the semi and get everything cleared out of there. our other semi fire, eastbound 80 before the carquinez bridge. started with a semi that jackknifed around 1:20 this morning. that burst into planes. we got one lane open around 4:00 this morning. then we had a secondary crash within that backup. unfortunately one of the people in the second crash did not survive. so now this is a fatality investigation along with trying to clear the semi that burst into flames. we only have one lane getting through. it could be several hours here before they get that totally
