eastbound 80 at crockett. it will be that way for hours. >> we still have one lane open, reggie. not only do we have the jackknifed big rig and fire. we have a second crash just past that scene once they open traffic back up earlier this morning. that one is a fatality. a failed collision, a sedan rear-ended a semi. no change. one lane getting by, eastbound 80 before you get to the carquinez bridge. it could be 10:00 this morning before we see the lanes reopen. for an alternate, you can take eastbound 80 to eastbound 4 and use the benicia bridge. it's a long detour but you won't have delays in that direction. hi, everybody. let's start with the storm impact scale. because the storm is finally here, and it's going to last through tonight, stephen paddock by waves of light showers.

enough to make things slick and a slight chance of thunder. if you live in the eastern sections, contra costa an alameda, you may have heard the thunder rolling through tracy and stockton. we have light showers rotating southeast to northwest across the north bay. barely sprinkles coating the ground in san rafael. mid 50s this morning, upper 50s to low 60s. we'll be dodging drops. random showers and random rainbows possible at 4:00 as the clouds open and the showers taper. grab an umbrella if you're heading out at 7:00 this evening. take a look at this brand new video. harvey weinstein leaving new york city police headquarters after turning himself in this morning. you can see it was a really short walk there.

he was in canned cuffs as he went into that black suv. that suv took him from police headquarters to the courthouse. it was only a short five-minute drive. weinstein is charged with sexually assaulting two women. here is what abc legal analyst dan abrams said on gma this morning about possible time weinstein might serve if he's convicted. >> he could face up to 25 years in prison. i think he's convicted, he will serve time. >> weinstein's lawyers have said allegations he forced himself on women are false. we'll see what happens. b.a.r.t. officials finally made their decision. they will not be expanding the dublin-pleasanton line to livermore any time soon. the board voted against several proposals after hours of heated debate. dozens of people living in the skrushs told their commuter horror stories. others want the money spent elsewhere. >> i have to leave home at 5:00

to be sure i'm not late. 7:00 start. i'm only 35 miles. >> the board will not revisit the issue until the end of june. that's when a separate transit entity will take over future expansion plans. san jose police are asking for potential victims to come forward after accusations a kindergarten teacher inappropriately touched a 9-year-old student. 61-year-old eduard frerking was arrested. if anyone has more information, contact san jose pd. no charges will be filed against the san francisco police officers involved in two deadly high profile shootings. the first one, mario woods in december of 2015. this is video of that incident when officers were seen surrounding him ordering him to drop a knife. it ended with a garbage of run

geier. this other shooting in the mission in 2016. luis gone gore rah shot after police say he charged at an officer with a kitchen knife. abc 7 was there when the announcement was made. >> the conflict i have is that i don't necessarily believe that the use of force was necessary, but the law doesn't necessarily care about whether it was necessary or not. >> march year woods's mother says the system has let them down and the lawyer representing both families talked about the decision. >> this is just more of the same, from what is supposed to be a hall of justice but what has turned into a hole of injustice. >> public defender calls the decision mind-boggling. the san francisco police officers association says in both cases the police arkted within the department's rules. five big oil companies want a judge to dismiss lawsuits from oakland and san francisco. the cities claim the companies are a public nuisance by

producing and promoting oil and natural gas fuels. they say it is forcing them to spend billions of dollars on infrastructure to protect people from rising sea levels. yet a federal judge heard the oil company's argument to dismiss the suit. it may be several months before he makes a decision. muse, the killers, bruno mars, snoop dogg, and the list goes on and on. you can't even read all the musicians who will be at bottlerock this weekend. >> sounds great but the timing is interesting. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield live in napa with more on the festival and the inevitable traffic nightmare. good morning, amy. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. it's not just a music festival. look at this beautiful piece of art behind me. this is just an example of some art you'll see sprinkled throughout the festival and the way they take this to the next level. they make this one a little different. this balloon is made of wine barrels, a nod, of course, to the wine country.

when i think about my favorite teachers, they're the teachers who teach me lessons outside of the classroom and with the way they make you feel. my teacher's a good role model, because she tells us never to give up. one of the people i think i have the closest relationship with is one of the campus security technicians. he makes sure i have a plan, i get my homework done, and it's just a really good role model to have. i want to thank my teacher for being so kind to other people. narrator: exactly why the california teachers association believes strong public schools make a better california for all of us.

for us everything has been kind of quieting the last couple hours or so except in the north bay where we have scattered lighter showers. as we head through the day, you want to be prepared for the random light showers that will be chilly in our beaches with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. if you're out and about you may want to have an umbrella with you. if you're exercising, it's going to be cool and humid today.toda upper 50s noon through 6:00. by 8:00 we're back in the mid 50s. if you're up in the north bay, random showers about any time up through 2:00. then becomes a little more scattered. we'll try to reach 60 degrees. upper 50s, not very summerlike. it will be sunday and monday. no change here. we still have one lane getting by. this is our major sig alert. this is actually two separate crashes on eastbound 80 just before the carquinez bridge. started with the jackknifed semi.

we've been showing you images from that all morning. it burst into flames about 1:30 this morning. at 4:00 a.m. a secondary crash, a sedan rear-ended the semi and the driver of that sedan did not survive. chp doing the investigation, it could be three or four more hours before we get that totally back up. northbound 880 before hegenberger trying to clear another semi fire blocking the far right lane. caltrans is on the scene. you can use 580 for an alternate. i'll end with good news, holiday light and friday light, still no bay bridge metering lights. it won't be long before you can hitch a free ride in a gondola in san francisco. >> the gondola will open to the public next month and transport people between the sales force tower. each cabin can carry up to 20 people, rising 68 feet in the air. giving passengers a unique view of the city. this is san francisco's first gondola in more than six

when their yacht rear-ended another boat on the hudson river. about 100 students and faculty were on board. nobody got hurt. school officials say they're going to try to hold another prom before graduation. >> i'm really glad everyone is okay. >> yeah. that's a bummer. the former naacp spokane, washington, chapter president who identified as african-american is now charged with welfare fraud. rachel dolezal who changed her name faces up to 15 years in prison. she's accused of illegally receiving nearly $9,000 in food and child care assistance, claiming she was struggling to pay bills after being fired from the naacp. they discovered an undisclosed $84,000 in her bank account. an oregon couple has unplugged all the amazon echo devices after it recorded a conversation and sent it to the

contact list. the person called the couple and told them that this happened. the echo owner called amazon. the company says the device inadvertently recorded the conversation and interpreted a word as "send message." amazon says this is an extremely rare occurrence and will take steps to avoid that from happening in the future. i have one in my house. to be honest, i'm too lazy to unplug it. we're going to let it continue to listen the my conversations. >> keep those conversations tame. let's go over to alexis. dealing with a lot this morning. >> we've got a lot going on. unfortunately a couple really serious situations here. one of those is eastbound 80 just before you get to the carquinez bridge. that is the site of two collisions really close to each other right around cummings sky way. the first one the semi that jackknifed and burst into flames around 1:20.

several hours later as they were opening the roadway back up, a sedan rear-ended a semi. that was a fatal collision. you only have one lane getting by right now. that remains very heavy approaching that scene. definitely take highway 4 to the benicia bridge to avoid all that. very dark here at the golden gate bridge. southbound 101. we had an earlier crash in the sausalito area. that is long gone. we have slick pavement. check out these friday light and holiday light drive times. doing okay even out of the central valley. let's check in with mike nicco. >> unfortunately have bad news. delays have develope. faa says about 54 minutes. keep an eye on that because the clouds will be around all day today with cool temperatures and waves of showers. showers taper tonight and then a wild temperature swing, especially in our inland neighborhoods, over the next three to five days. a look at the area of low pressure, center of it just to the west. it will slide just to our south. the strongest of the storms will

be in the central valley and up into the sierra as we head throughout the rest of the day. we'll get leftover scraps as you can see, not a lot of grown. but it's out there at noon. be prepared if you're heading out for lunch, you could get wet from time to time. may have to dodge a few drops. same thing as you head into the evening commute. notice the clouds open a little bit. if we have showers, we may have rainbows. hashtag them we would love to see them. overnight, one last push as a chug of energy rolls through on a cold front. you can see scattered showers at midnight and very isolated around the south bay at 8:00 tomorrow morning. back side of that low, sinking air, dryer air, breezy conditions, but it does bring the sunshine and start the warming trend tomorrow afternoon. rainfall amounts, look at this, hardly anything out there on the peninsula. a couple .01 inch until you get into the north bay, that's where we have eight llt more than .10 inch. low to mid 60s around the bay and north bay.

sorry about that. we're on the road here with a lot of other people traveling this morning. a lot of commuters. this may be a good time to get out of town. doesn't seem too bad on northbound 101 right at the border of san jose and santa clara. a lot of people on the roads today. aaa says more americans will travel this weekend than in 12 years. delays on major roads can be three times longer than normal. we mix the commuters in with holiday travelers, it will be today. busiest time to travel will be this afternoon from 3:00 to 5:30. busy at the airports as well. san jose's airport will be filled with holiday travellers and also people coming in for graduations this weekend. they expect a 17% indegrees in travelers compared to last year. if you're driving, you'll have to pay a lot for gas. aaa says the highest gas prices you'll see in about four years. we're not on our weigh to las vegas. we're on our way to santa clara, but still enjoying the ride. not much traffic here. >> just like las vegas except

not at all. thank you, matt. track issues with the weather or traffic this weekend with the abc 7 news app. we'll send push alerts for breaking news and, of course, you can track the raen with doppler 7. hollywood mogul harvey weinstein is in a new york courthouse right now hearing the charges against him. he's being arraigned on rape and sexual assault charges. about an hour ago we saw him walk out of police headquarters in handcuffs. he was smiling as he walked out. you see his arms behind his back, wearing a black jacket and blue sweater. he turned himself in this morning. legal analysts say he could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted. these are the first criminal charges against weinstein after many women have come forward alleging sexual misconduct against him. he is being investigated in london, l.a. as well. no word yet on his bail. i've been watching for updates. we do expect bail to be

extremely high. >> jessica, thank you. 6:34 now. this morning milwaukee bucks rookie sterling brown is speaking about this police body footage showing him being tased and arrested by officers. this happened after a parking violation in january. the video just released this week. brown broke his silence and spoerk exclusively with "good morning america" anchor robin roberts. brown has promised legal action against the city. >> this happens from coast to coast. it's something that's being shown more now that technology has advanced, something that's been happening for years and people's stories have not been told, stories have not been heard. i feel like me doing this, it helps a lot. >> earlier this week the milwaukee police department apologized saying officers who acted inappropriately have been disciplined following an internal investigation. yu can watch rosh bin roberts' interview with sterling brown on gma coming up at 7:00 a.m. right here on abc 7. aer lingus passengers at sfo

stranded for 24 hours are finally on their way to dublin, ireland. they should be there in just a few minutes. they were delayed after the plane clipped a wing on a structure at the airport after it landed wednesday. many passengers were trying to make it in time for a historic vote back at home, a referendum that could overturn the country's near total ban on abortion. >> very happen pi to go home nor a vote. tomorrow is the day of the vote until 10:00 in the nighttime. >> the plane departed sfo last night just before 9:00 p.m., ex-scheduled to planned in dublin in the next half hour. heads up this weekend. an advisory in effect for lovers point beach in pacific grove because of bacteria. the monterey county health department says the water could make people sick. no swimming, no ocean contact. all the other beaches are open and there are no restrictions there. happening today, passengers

the south bay. starting off at 57 at 8:00, low 60s at noon through 8:00 this evening. east bay valleys some of our warmest temperatures. you'll get it. it will be about 30 degrees warmer by the time we get to monday. today in the low to mid 60s. let's talk about what's going on up in napa with bottlerock. light showers today, just enough to keep the dust down. 65. 72 and increasing sunshine, but breezy tomorrow. 83, a whole lot of strong sunshine. wear the sunscreen, you will need it sunday. we'll take a look at what's going to happen at the beaches and that huge traur swing coming up in the accuweather seven-day forecast. you've been following two interesting accidents. the timing of them has been awful. >> that's for sure. sky 7 over the scene in the crockett area. eastbound 80, starting with a semi that jackknifed and basically exploded. that's what a couple of witnesses behind the crash told us, the fuel tank caught fire.

we've got just one lane open on eastbound 80 in the crockett air kbra before you get to the carquinez bridge. we had a second crash right around the same area involving a sedan and a semi. that was a fatality. crews are saying it will be 10:00 before they get this roadway back open. that is a long-term closure and a major headache, too. our other big problem, northbound 880 before hegenberger, right lane blocked. crews working to clear another semi that caught fire. i recommend using 580. trains moving once again on b.a.r.t. the person removed from the tracks. a 20-minute delay in fremont line from the earlier police activity. . i want to update you with what's happening with harvey weinstein. you see him in a courtroom right now. he is hearing those charges read. the charges he's facing, he's in his arraignment right now. about five minutes away from where we saw him surrender

then it goes away once again. we're seeing our best chance of showers in the higher elevations in the snn cruz mountains into the diablo range. you can see it's pretty cloudy out there. you can notice as the counter clockwise spin is going over top of us, the shower trend is tapering right now. still a chance as we head throughout the rest of today. as you look on future radar, green dots just about everywhere during the lunch hour, even up until 7:00 when we start to see breaks in the cloud cover, the gray opening there. that's some sunshine. that means if you see a shower, you may see rainbow, also. it may mean you need the sunglasses for the last couple hours of the day. here is the last push as the cold front comes through tonight at midnight. a lingering chance. at 8:00 in the morning, notice the clearing, the dryer air, the breezy conditions. it will warm tomorrow. but the breezes will still make it feel cool. rainfall amounts, you can see the best, still up in the north bay, everybody else less than .1
