next thing you know the plane went sideways. then you could hear the thud into the concrete. new details on a plane crash at the petaluma airport. >> good evening and thanks for joining us. i'm eric thomas. dion lim has the night off. kate larsen spent day at the crash scene and spoke to witnesses. >> may day, may day, we have a plane down at petaluma. we need emergency services. we just lost him. >> reporter: urgent calls for help after a small plane fell from the sky a half a mile from the petaluma airport. >> we all looked at each other

in the eye and it was like, that doesn't sound right. >> jim king was golfing at the course next to the airport when the plane went down around 4:00. he and his friends are used to seeing planes take off from the airport and knew immediately something was wrong. >> it was like it stalled completely and stalled down. >> i played with a couple firefighters and they rushed over. i didn't go over and they came back and said, they're dead. >> reporter: a man and a woman were on board that plane and unfortunately both of them did tie. investigators here on scene tell me the aircraft was an amateur built custom manufactured plane that had been in service for quite some time. >> at this time we don't know the cause of the accident. it's our understanding it may have been taking off and trying to return to the airport. >> reporter: the ntsb and faa

that had been the big story all day. we were all warmer now than we were yesterday. the only exception half moon bay. this create it is launching pad for a warm day tomorrow. we have 60s and 70s on the board by 9:00. by 1:00, you see temperatures nearing 90 degrees. we'll look at how warm we get tomorrow afternoon across the entire region and how long the warm sticks around in the full accuweather forecast. san francisco police say a fight turning at stabbing at the park this evening. they found an adult man with injuries consistent with being cut with a sharp object. he was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries, police detained several people but are investigating whether any of those individuals are suspects in the crime. two ship repair workers are expected to survive after being hurt on the job.

which they awaited decades. a grand march will be part of the san francisco 150th annual memorial day commemoration tomorrow. it kicks off at 10:30 a.m. scheduled speakers include senator diane feinstein, and san francisco mayor mark ferrell. volunteers paid tribute to service members at arlington national park this morning. they placed more than 160,000 roses at the headstones at arlington. they were left by flags left by the infantry unit. thousands of motorcycles rolled into washington d.c. to honor members of america's armed forces who never came home.

children's rights activists are calling for a national day of action for children to be held this friday. it is in response to the report that hundreds of immigrant children who arrived without parents are now unaccounted for. the department of health and human services reported last month that 1,475 children who arrived without an adult are now missing, but it just started trending with a new #wearethechildren. senator kamala harris tweeted yesterday she demanded answers

work. in developing ne, former president george h.w. bush was admitted to a hospital in maine this afternoon after experiencing low blood pressure and fatigue. that's according to his spokesman. bush spent 13 days in the hospital for an infection last month, a day after his wife's funeral. the 93-year-old bush is likely to remain in the hospital for the next few days. his spokesman said the former president is alert. just yesterday he visited with veterans during a pancake breakfast. >> willy nelson will likely play a makeup concert after being too sick this weekend in north carolina. he took the stage but didn't sing or play a single note as the headline at his fe festiv festival. back here, bottle rock is wrapped up for the weekend. the three-day festival features a list of music acts covering just about every genere and
