tonight. abc 7 reporter amy hollyfield live at oracle arena with more on a big watch party for fans. >> reporter: good morning. you can see behind me oracle all lit up, flashing lights, showing something big here. of course, the warriors themselves won't be here tonight. we have video of them boarding their plane headed to houston. that is where game seven will be. their assistant coach talked about how game six went and how he's liking how things are looking for game seven. >> you've got to go out and execute. obviously play with force and energy. it's going to be pretty rowdy and crazy in the arena. we do those things and we just come out with a good game plan which we have the last few games, defensively sound, take care of the basketball, we'll be fine. >> reporter: here is the information for tonight's party. those of us left behind in the bay area, we can still watch the

packs of cigarettes in terms of the nicotine punch in them. this is scary stuff. san francisco being the public health leader that it is is doing something. >> meanwhile the fda opted to delay ruling on whether to ban products in 2022. they hope proposition e will start a statewide conversation. the examiner reports supervisor sandra lee fewer wants to build affordable housing above library branches. she says libraries are open to creative ideas. some are in the process of renovating. there are no current plans for existing libraries to make affordable housing an option. >> can see the flooding rains in cuba, moving up near florida and all across the southeast from north korea over towards mississippi. definitely going to be a bummer to be out and about in that area

today because of the wet weather and flooding. back at home it's pretty quiet. we have haze out there, a little fog. down the peninsula coast a little mist this morning. temperatures running from about 53 to 56 across san francisco. you can see how quiet it is on the san mateo bridge but how hazy it is also. we'll do good on your commute planner. it's a holiday. good as far as driving, mass trance sit, driving and a ferry ride. look at these temperatures in the south bay. from 63 at 7:00. mid to upper 80s for the afternoon hours. still 75 at 8:00 this evening. look at our east bay valleys. hopefully you can have the windows open trying to get that 50-degree air trapped in the house before it reaches 85 at noon, yients by 1:00, all the way through by 5:00. still near 80 at 8:00 this

morning. when i came in this morning, it's scary for us to come in at that time of the morning because a lot of people are leaving establishments, and i saw a lot of this on the roadway. very scary. >> yeah, that's not good. i don't have any major situations now. certainly drive with caution if you are out this morning. we are looking at light volume. so walnut creek, southbound 680, you are in the going to have a lot of company if you're one of the few heading into work. we have a lot of changes for many of our mass transit agencies, so keep that in mind if you're planning on using mass transit today. no service for ace rail. trains not operating out of the central valley. b.a.r.t. running on a sunday schedule. capitol corridor on a weekend holiday schedule and we have an hour before those trains start running as well. we'll take a look at light drive times as well.

>> if you ride muni, there's a planned closure of the twin peaks tunnel. buses are replacing uni metros between the st. francis circle and the church street station. service on the k. angle side, ocean view is affected. tunnel will reopen tomorrow morning. muni is doing prep work right now for a two-month-long closure of the tunnel. they'll renovate that 100-year-old structure. coming up, a silent call for help. the lifesaving note police say held them to a woman being abused. closure for a livermore family. the special memorial tribute

mid 70s just about every day with a whole lot of sunshine. hope you enjoy it if you're up there. >> looks nice, thank you, mike. police in florida say a woman's desperate plan may have saved her life. she slipped a note to her veterinarian saying her boyfriend had a gun. it said call the cops, my boyfriend is threatening me. he has a gun. please don't let him know. the woman says she convinced her boyfriend to bring the dog to the clinic as a way to escape his physical abuse. officers arrived and arrested the boyfriend and he is being held without bail. a pilot and his assistant at a flight school in redding face kidnapping and conspiracy charges after police say they tried to deport a student. police say they went to the student's home last week to tell them they would be sending him back to china. they went back the next day where they attacked and threatened him before taking him to the airport.

the pilot and his assistant were arrested. former president george h.w. bush remains hospitalized this morning for low blood pressure and fatigue. the 93-year-old is likely to spend the next few days recovering according to the spokesperson. h spent 13 days at a houston hospital for an infection last month. mr. bush's spokesperson themethe president is alert. a moving tribute for a world war ii veteran declared missing in action. lieutenant thomas kelly flew a b 32 bomber. yesterday he was honored in his hometown of livermore. >> reporter: a 21-gun salute for livermore native lieutenant thomas kaley, above, a b 32 bomber flying in his honor. he and his crew disappeared off

the coast of papua new guinea. >> they told us the plane was shot down. >> reporter: diane christy is his niece. >> that's what the commanding officer's letter said a few months later, but you never really know. >> reporter: last october the family got word that the plane and the remains of the crew were found. project recover, a group dedicated to finding missing service members made the discovery using underwater robots. >> it's a needle within a haystack of needles in many respects. it's very, very difficult because the ocean is a lot bigger than it looks. >> scott is a cos sin of lieutenant kelly. >> after all these years we see where the grave lies. >> reporter: for 74 years family members paid their respects at lieutenant kelly's memorial marker here at the family plot. now they're hoping his remains will be recovered and brought back home.

70s for richmond and berkeley. some of the hottest temperatures on a widespread upper 80s to mid 90s in our inland east bay neighborhoods. tonight temperatures will fall back to comfortable levels, in the mid 50s to about 60 degrees. a little bit of a roller coaster in our temperatures. the cooling starts to hit the coast. we'll be hot inland. temperatures drop significantly with drizzle for the morning commute. temperatures back in the, 70s and 80s for the weekend. >> we're looking at light volumes. i want to head back to the san mateo bridge. you can see things pretty lit up on the eastbound side of the bridge. that's because a vehicle went off the roadway and went into that marshy area. i'm guessing we can see the water there because emergency crews are there. the driver is okay.

eight years into the disease was when all the light went out. for me, it was heart-wrenching. look into the eyes of somebody with alzheimer's sometime, you just don't see -- the person's soul is, like, gone. bea: and it takes a toll on everyone. i mean, it's -- it's a depressing disease to watch unfold before your eyes. she actually thought those of us who were caring for her and who loved her most were her worst enemies. more and more responsibilities fell on my shoulders. lisa: this disease just ravages a family. it changes your life. the magnitude of it is indescribable. my mother taught me to be in the moment.

a new study shows getting more sleep on saturday and sunday morning may actually extend your life. the study was published in the journal of sleep research. researchers found people who get less sleep during the week but sleep in on weekends compared to those who get seven hours per night have similar mortality rates. there's no clear answer yet on why sleeping in on weekends makes a difference. researchers think perhaps short sleepers are catching up on sleep they miss during the week. >> a new study suggests pluto may actually be a giant comet. as strong members changed it from a planet to dwarf planet. now it's possible it could be a comet. scientists found a consistency between the estimated amount of nitrogen inside a glacier on pluto and. is that a downgrade? it kind of seems like it. >> it really does. makes it seem a lot more insignificant unless it's coming at it which it's not. >> the rays are in town to take
