where she insulted a former presidential aide's race. ♪ the revival of the hit show "roseanne" was canceled just hours after its star roseanne barr tweeted this, muslim brotherhood and planet of the apes had a baby equals vj. the vj she's referring to is valerie jarrett, a former adviser to president obama. by tuesday morning, barr's tweet had been deleted and replaced with an apology saying in part, forgive me, my joke was in bad taste. roseanne's tweet outraged fans but also her own castmates. sara gilbert, also an executive producer of the show, calling the comments abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. meanwhile, the subject of the tweet, valerie jarrett, responded on msnbc. >> well, first of all, i think

hurricane maria may be 70 times larger than the official government estimate. harvard researchers suggest the death toll could be more than 4,600 people. the report relied on household surveys. it found many of the deaths were due to a lack of medical care after the storm. and authorities have confirmed a national guardsman missing in the flood that hit ellicott city, maryland, has been found dead. eddie hermond was helping a woman when he lost his balance and fell into the raging floodwaters. in the meantime, what's left of alberto is moving north causing flash flooding. a boy in northwest tennessee has died after he was struck by lightning during a storm. and crews have been working through the night to re-open interstate 40 in north carolina after this mudslide. a few miles away officials say the lake tahoma dam now appears to be failing, and some evacuations have been ordered but just as a precaution. let's take a look now at the rest of your forecast for this wednesday.

we're back with video from rodeo drive there in beverly hills. several men there jumping out of those vehicles to smash the storefront windows, and seconds later they returned with their stolen goods. police chased them to an apartment complex, but they were able to get away. the saleron and the zadig & voltaire were targeted. some of the stolen merchandise has been recovered. magician david copperfield has been cleared of liability for the injuries of an audience member at his las vegas show. the jury found copperfield negligent for the incident five years ago, but the verdict places 100% of the responsibility for the tourist's injuries on the man himself. he fell in a dark passageway after leaving the stage during a vanishing act. the ruling means he cannot seek monetary damages.

and actor morgan freeman is demanding an apology from cnn for its story accusing him of sexually inappropriate behavior. last week the network reported multiple women including a reporter who worked on a story claimed freeman harassed them but he denies the accusations. his attorney calls the cnn story malicious and journalistic malpractice. cnn says it stands by its reporting. a violent video game that allows players to go on a shooting rampage inside a school has been pulled days before it was set to be released. the computer game called active shooter allows players to act as the gunman, stalk school hallways and rack up kills. it sparked an outcry from parents including those who lost children in the parkland, florida, school shooting. uber's new passenger safety feature, a so-called panic button is now available nationwide. it dials 911 directly in most cities. it shows dispatchers your location in realtime. in some areas it transmits the caller make and the model of the
