from hollywood and taking down one of the hitest rated shows on tv with her. overnight, she seems to blame the racist tweet on ambien. outrage began after tweeting this. muslim brotherhood and planet of the apes had a baby equals vj referring to valerie jarrett. jarrett responded on >> i'm fine. >> reporter: barr said my joke was in bad taste. within hours abc pulled the plug. chairman and president of disney saying there was only one thing to do here, the right thing. but today president trump is firing back directly calling out the ceo for contacting jarrett about the comments but saying, quote, gee, he never called president trump to apologize for the horrible statements said and made about me on abc. >> what has happened to you?

>> reporter: roseanne pushed boundaries from the beginning and the message seemed to resonate with democrats and republicans alike with more than 27 million watching the debut. >> what's up, deplorable? >> reporter: imagine if leftist celeb got this treatment. in response to the comment i personally thought she was hispanic. roseanne said i thought she was saudi. many in the cast calling her remarks abhorrent and hulu and viacom pulling old episodes of the show and heard from ambien saying racism is not a side effect of their drug. abc news, new york. as maggie just mentioned, roseanne barr blamed ambien for the initial tweet. the drugmaker tweeted today saying all pharmaceutical

treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any medication. duelling -- in a sexual assault case. supporters of the measure held their rally at this morning in front of the law office of the lawyer. meantime, a no recall rally this afternoon in front of the county recorder's office in downtown san jose. the judge may attend and speak at the rally. the recall effort sparked by a six-month sentence of brock turner for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. harvey weinstein won't testify before a new york grand jury. he is accused of rape and other sex charges. weinstein's spokesperson issued a statement this morning saying there wasn't enough time to prepare his client to testify. weinstein turned himself in friday. his request for more time was

denied. the school district superintendent is under scrutiny again after the last night's school board meeting and remains the superintendent for now. but state lawmakers are calling for investigations into alleged fraud of a no-bid contractor that the district hired to do millions of dollars in construction work. the santa clara county d.a. has an open investigation, as well. some parents say school board members may be ones with something to hide. >> we have a superintendent doing a phenomenal job and doing her job and bullying her because she's doing her job. >> the school board president said if there's an issue it would have come out by now. a long and frustrating morning commute in the east bay. a big rig spilled 70 gallons of diesel feel on southbound interstate 680. you can see the traffic resulting just before the 580 connector and hours to fully clean up. matt keller has the story.

>> reporter: you think you had a rough morning? the driver of this big rig to watch the fuel tank removed from the truck on a freeway. he told chp officers he heard a loud noise driving southbound on 680 just before al costa boulevard 2:10 this morning causing him to lose control. >> because the driver had swerved and hit the center divide and what happened before that we can't -- we're not going to be able to tell and he hit the center divide wall and definitely cracked it and dropped it off of the side of the truck. >> reporter: the driver was okay and 70 gallons of diesel fuel spilled before the truck stopped. chp blocked off two lanes and the exit lane for two and a half hours before cal trans arrived to clean up. chp gave the sweepers a chance t clean up the far left lanes. traffic for miles. once the sweepers were down in the three left lanes, they were reopened and the three right

lanes closed until 8:00. good news, traffic back to normal and the chp says none of the diesel feel ended up in the drainage system. in san ramon, matt keller, abc7 news. two consumer groups calling for new investigation into tesla and its auto pilot feature. the groups demanding the dmv investigate what they called the misleading and deceptive marketing practices of aut autopilot. no response this morning from tesla. uber's new panic button is now live in the u.s. it's effort to improve rider safety after a string of incidents last year where riders said they were assaulted in a ride. the new function allows you to call 911 directly from the safety center in the app. most cities display the location to help the 911 operator find you. pharmaceutical company allergen recalling a birth control product because some of the pills are out of order

putting users at risk of higher risk of unintended pregnancy. the company is issuing the voluntary recall for the taytulla pack saying the first four days were placebo instead of active capsules and says to contact your doctor for a return. in the mid-40s and haven't had your colon checked, it might be time. american colon cancer said screening should stop at 45 not 50. the recommended age for average risk, those at high risk and including african-americans and alaskan natives to get screened even earlier. kim kardashian is heading to the white house. what she plans to ask ivanka trump's husband during her visit. plus, a russian journalist reported dead is alive. the reason for the confusing turn of events. got some confusing weather out there, too, don't we?

the journalist's death to catch those trying to kill him. the 41-year-old thanked everyone that mourned his death and apologized to his wife who also thought her husband had been killed. no word yet if the agency ever caught the people it thought tried to kill the journalist. it seems president trump is still nursing his resentment against attorney general jeff sessions for recusing himself from the russia investigation. in a tweet this morning the president said he wishes he had picked a different leader for the justice department. mr. trump also tweeted a quote from republican representative trey gaudy who said sessions should have told the president before accepting the job that he would recuse himself from the investigation. these tweets come amid new reports that the president had asked sessions to rescind his recusal. happening today, kim kardashian-west is going to the white house. she's planning to meet with jared kushner to discuss prison reform. west is advocating for a pardon for alice johnson, a great

grandmother who's serving a life sentence without parole for first-time drug offense. it's not clear whether west will meet with president trump. west tweeted this morning, happy birthday alice marie johnson. today is for you. right now, bay area entrepreneurs are pitching big ideas in front of the producers of "shark tank." abc7 news reporter amy hollingfield is right there. how's it going? >> reporter: i'm feeling nervous watching them, we're watching as dreams possibly coming true. people are giving the ideas right now. that man wrapped up. show us your mask. this is sniff relief. a mask that you put on. he just had the one minute in front of a casting producer pitching this idea and maybe get on the show "shark tank." the casting producers around the room are listening and they do have the power to maybe make dreams come true.

weak cold front. and that's going to eventually push all the way out of here and leave us with the mostly sunny afternoon and a break from the heat. sea breeze comes back with more moisture infused into it tonight so more drizzle is possible around the coast and the east bay hills. we get breaks from the heat but it is coming back this weekend. look at this. low 60s along the coast and san francisco. mid to upper 60s around the bay. and low to mid-70s inland. if you're out and about, let's talk about the activity planner. the beaches, yeah. chilly breezes there with temperatures barely reaching 60 but the windchill if you will feeling five degrees cooler and flip side a great day to do yard work if you need. comfortable out there. watch the strong sunshine. on the bay, though, windy and choppy startg at 3:00. our fastest breezes start to blow over the bay. areas of yellow, west wind gusting up to 30 knots, 33 to 35
