power plant where ruby anderson's body was found yesterday in a stairwell. it was open for anyone to enter between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. because of what happened, the staff made changes. now you need a badge to enter that building. the sheriff gave us a timeline for the disappearance. living on campus, but not a patient at the general hospital. a worker contacted the sheriff's office on may 20 to report she left the day before and not returned. sheriff office contacted family, the jail, medical examiner's office, and san francisco police department. anderson's body was found ten days after being reported missing. that was yesterday. the stairwell of the power plant here on campus, something similar happened five years ago, a body of a 58-year-old was found in a stairwell in the hospital building after missing for 17 days. new security protocols put in place after that, but because anderson was not a hospital patient technically, those were not necessarily followed in her

case. >> so now we're going to be reviewing everything to see where the holes and gaps are because, certainly, we -- it looks like we need to do better. >> reporter: the sheriff's office and hospital officials are looking at all the protocols and doing a search of all their buildings and stairwells to ensure there are no other vulnerabilities on campus. the medical examiner is currently doing the autopsy on anderson to determine a cause of death. that could be released later on in this investigation. reporting live in san francisco, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> all right, thank you. crews work to contain seven fires burning in eastern county. the key challenge continues to be strong winds. cal fire says the fires in byron are 80% contained, burning 500 acres, several structures and vehicles burned. here's a look at the area where the fires are burning. they started after 1:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon. the cause is under

investigation. investigators in san jose look into what sparked a fire in an office building. crews responded to the scene just after 2:00 this morning near capitol and lakeview avenues. planes were under control within one hour. we know california teachers association has offices in this building. firefighters found nobody inside, and no injuries were reported. a south bay church asked for help after a vandal shattered a window and left a pile of hypodermic needles on the ground of trinity cathedral in downtown san jose on memorial day. cameras show a man walking from the park towards the church, picking up a concrete utility access cover and hurls that through a window. no word on why he did it. fortunately, nobody was inside. the church office manager says she discovered the damage tuesday morningnd call ed the police. announcing theudget proposal for the next two fiscal

years including spending $8 million to hire more 911 dispatchers. the mayor wants the city to recruit and train 90 more dispatchers over two years. dispatchers currently answer calls been 10 seconds 88% of the time. the national standard is 90%. the call center in san francisco is under staffed. dispatchers work overtime and holidays to keep up with the increasing volume of calls. new this morning, homeless advocates in san francisco blocked a tech shuttle bus in a protest this morning in the mission district. protesters dumped a pile of motorize the rental scooters in front of the bus at the intersection of 24th and valencia streets this morning and quickly surrounded the bus and shut down the street. activists say they are upset at what they call the techploitation of the city and displacement of low and middle income residents by the tech

today, president trump met with families of the victims of a texas school shooting leaving ten people dead. this is video of him arriving in houston, greeted by the texas governor, greg abbot, and he met privately with the families. eight students and two teachers were killed in the may 18th shooting in santa fe high school. the president said he'd work to improve school safety in the wake of the shooting, but has not called for new gun control legislation. the trump administration's decision to slap tariffs on steel and aluminum prompted anger and retaliation from u.s. trade allies. the administration placed 25% tax on steel and 10% tax on

aluminum from the european union, canada, and mexico at midnight tonight. this comes after talks of reducing steel imports failed. the administration claims the imports are a threat to national security. eu officials will file a protest with the world trade organization and impose duties on u.s. trade imports. mexico imposed tariffs on u.s. imports like pork, apples, grapes, and flat steel. >> this had a chilling effect on the market as stocks are lower today. you can see right now on the dow, it's down 289 points. that's down to over 1%. industrial companies are falling the most with investors anticipating higher manufacturing costs with a higher cost of foreign steel and alumin aluminum. president trump is escalating a feud wit abc in the wake of the "roseanne" cancellation tweeting bob iger saying, iger, where is my call of apology? you and abc offended millions of
