made, amy. thank you. another deadly accident at yosemite. two experienced climbers died after falling off el capitan on saturday. tim klein and jason wells fell about 1,000 feet. their friend, brady robinson, spoke to abc 7 news via face time from wells' home in boulder, colorado. he says the men were with another friend, kevin prince, who was climbing below when something went wrong. >> for some reason tim disconnected from kevin's rope and was doing something. we don't know what. when they fell, they were not connected to kevin's system and he was completely unaware of what had even happened. >> klein's wife told our sister station in los angeles that she believes an engineer bag fell from above and caused the accident. this is the second deadly incident in yosemite in recent weeks. on may 21st, a hiker collide while climbing half doep dome

during a storm. a man was shot at a smoke shop in alum rock. the victim is expected to survive and no word on any arrests. sky 7 also caught this in san jose, a fire burning in the gaut lupe rand fill. people saw smoke for miles in that area. firefighters managed to contain the flames to a small area. u.s. defense secretary james mattis in singapore at a security summit. he sounded off a bit and said that he was a little uneasy about this upcoming talks with north korea. he said overnight that the u.s. has no plans to withdraw troops from the korean peninsula. he went on to say that he expects talks with north korea to be, quote, bumpy. mattis said it rock by because north korea rarely takes part in international negotiations. happening today, first lady

. unfortunately it seems it's happened again. another pet has died while in the custody of a major airline. 8-year-old alejandro, a pomeranian was put into the cargo hold of a delta jet flying. during a layover he was found dead in his cage. delta has offered to have alejandro evaluated by a veterinarian to learn more about what happened. the department of transportation says over a half million animals were transported on u.s. airlines in 2017. of those 24 of them died. here is the back handspring that has a lot of people shaking their heads. it's up to denver's district attorney to file charges against an fbi agent who was off duty when this happened. ♪ [ gunshot ].

they're going to try teath useds that have been littering the trains. starting today, b.a.r.t. will have rapid response teams that deal with these issues. they will be stationed at the macarthur and lake merritt stations. all five go through one of those stations. some riders say they sometimes wonder how the trains can get so dirty. >> sometimes you wonder why so early in the morning because you would think that the trains would be cleaned, you know, before they come out. i guess on like the first train that comes out. sometimes there's messes on the train even early in the morning. >> reporter: b.a.r.t. says riders can now send pictures of messes to b.a.r.t.'s web cited and employees will receive a text and they will go and deal with it. there are 14 people on the rapid response team that b.a.r.t. is planning to hire five more. keep an eye out for them today. we're reporting live in walnut creek, amy hollyfield, abc 7

candidates and find your polling place. >> we have good news this morning for women with early stage breast cancer. >> that news is that you may not need chemotherapy. that's the conclusion of a landmark study published in "the new england journal of medicine." it says 70% of women with early stage breast cancer don't need chemotherapy. using a gene test on tumors, researchers found chemotherapy didn't add any benefit in survival rates or recurrence for most women. >> the study was partially funded by the maker of one of these tests, but there are several out there. it's widespread, almost always covered by insurance and medicare. it comes with a $3,000 price tag. this is the definition of precision medicine. it's targeted not just for you. >> tls a cautionary note. researchers say some women 50 and younger in high-risk groups may still need chemotherapy. >> microsoft is buying san francisco-based github for $7.5
