san francisco police chief william scott is staying put. he was not chosen by los angeles mayor to become that city's next police chief. >> bill scott, i found that san francisco has a visionary chief, someone who is the very embodiment of integrity. >> nothing but kind words for scott when he announced his choice for lapd. veteran michael moore. scott was a finalist. chief scott says quote, i remain committed to the wo, ahead to maintain public safety, reduce crime and strengthen the relationships between our officers and the people of the city and county of san francisco. san francisco police are asking for the public's help in solving a mystery in noe county. vic lee has the story.

>> reporter: this is where she fell and hit her head on the pavement near the cracked sidewalk. she doesn't remember much of what happened. public information officer joseph tomlinson. >> she was bleeding heavily. the woman stated she was bumped and fell to the ground and hit her head. >> reporter: it happened here on sanchez near 28th street yesterday evening. the woman had left a friend's home near here. she had her infant in a body carrier. the baby was not hurt and it does not appear to be a robbery. >> the woman doesn't remember seeing anyone or anyone hitting her. she had her wallet, and purse and everything. >> reporter: police combed the neighborhood looking for witnesses and security camera video. all of this shocke residents here in this quiet part of town.

hope to taking back the house rests on key california districts. they might find themselves locked out because of our primary system. kristen sze is here to explain. >> in california, as you know, we have an open primary, two finishers advance. 435 seats in the house of representatives, and right now, democrats control 193 seats and republicans control 235 seats and search are vacant. democrats need to defend all current seats and add 25 more. republicans hold 23 seats in districts that hillary clinton carried in 2016. seven of those are in california. more than any other state. the three races where democrats are at most risk for not having
