m at the orthodontist. he called him a hero. we have many more reactions to his passing on our website. abc7news.com. the wildfire season upon us. this morning we're tracking two brush fires burning in san bonito county. i want to show you this new video from overnight. you can see coalinga road and airline highway. another small fire burning on coalinga road, that one 5% contained. we're keeping our eye on a wildfire burning north of aqua dulce. last checked it burned 1400 acres, 14% contained. nine families evacuated yesterday afternoon but authorities say they have been allowed back into their homes.

fire officials are expected to give an update at 8:00 this morning. it's 4:30, a quick update on weather and traffic. start with mike nicco. >> thank you very much. for those worried, at least there's no santa ana wind event to fan the flamts. a little breezy but not out of control. you can see the wall of clouds trying take take over san francisco. sales force fire golden warrior state blue state of mind. waking up cooler, temperatures low- to mid-50s, even 40s at 7:00. by noon 55 and the coast, look at those mid up toer 60s with partly cloudy skies. we'll go from partly sunny to a little bit more sunshine this afternoon. high clouds will roll around. notice breezy and below average, 50s at the coast, 60s around the bay, inland, grab that coat. you'll need it at 7:00, 50s and 60s. cooler weather, a weekend trend in the seven-day forecast. here is alexis with a look at the commute. >> good morning, mike.

we're looking at a very empty side of the richmond bridge. actually no vehicles heading toward us on westbound 580. we're not complaining. a smooth commute if you're heading that direction. drive times look good, too, westbound 80, highway 4 to the maze, a back up in the richmond area due to roadwork. that wasn't scheduled to wrap until 5:00 but looks like it's ahead of schedule. 17 minutes highway 4 to the maze. 7 minutes bay bridge westbound 80 and san francisco to sfo looking great in the green at nine minutes. >> alexis, thank you. your voice, your vote, it's election day. voters in santa clara county will decide whether to recall the judge. >> the lenient sentence of six months for sexual assault case brock turner. joining us live from the

registrar board of voters. >> this is rare. the first judge to face a recall vote in 80 years. residents at santa clara county will get a chance to cast their ballots in san jose. this was stemmed from brock turner, he gave him six months after the sentence went viral around the world. that sparked outrage and the recall campaign followed. voters will decide if judge p persky's term will be cut close. fellow judges are against the recall on the grounds judges must maintain their independence and not be swayed by public opinion. voters have a choice of two voters on the ballot if the judge is recalled. reporting live, matt keller, abc 7 news. we'll be watching that

closely. they will decide which will go onto election. >> gavin newsom with john cox in second. meanwhile supporters of los angeles mayor villaraigosa hope that one issue will appeal to voters and that will be school. here is kate larson. >> that's why antio villaraigosa brought both parties together. california advocates spent millions to boost villaraigosa's boost for governor. >> he spent two decades working on the schools. >> the director of the organization supports him because he supports increased funding for charter schools and students. they are worried gavin newsom will take away the choice to attend charter schools if he's elected governor. >> any pause on growth of charter schools is really detrimental to what parents have

vault, set to happen at 7:00 our time. a jury in new york indicted the movie mogul and three counts involving two women. dozens more have accused him of sexual misconduct ranging from harassment to assault. he denies the allegations. his lawyer challenged the credibility of weinstein's accusers. the man charged with an attack on pier 39 faces time in federal prison. he entered a guilty plea yesterday. fbi arrested him in december after he told undercover agents he planned to use pipe bombs and guns to killousts at the pier. he's eecte to sentenced in september. happening today the presidio playground named after a man who helped keep people out of the united states may be renamed. the park commission scheduled to taupe the resolution to change the name of the playground. he was a bay area congressman at

the turn of the century who helped passed the law that helped stop people from entering the law. that allow was passed until 197. look at the east temperatures especially inland valleys and down into the south bay, 5 to 11 degrees. cooler than we were this time yesterday. that puts us mainly low- to mid-50s, highway 4, mid to upper 50s there. that's the east bay valley temperatures. let's take a look at what's going on with the commute. can you see the bay bridge. not too breezy but it will pick up south of the bay bridge. that's where we'll have the fastest breezes and biggest on the bay. as far as mass transit, dress for cool conditions this morning to mild this afternoon. those breezes get dumb bart and bay bridge to a lesser extent. 12 hour forecast, san francisco, 54 this morning, 56 at 10:00, 58 still at noon. barely making it to 60 this

afternoon and back into the mid-50s by 8:00. it's going to be breezy so it will feel cooler than that. we'll have partly cloudy conditions if the south bay. we get up into the 70s only low definitely an evening that you'll need a light jacket out there. then let's take a look what's going on in the east bay at the shore, start at 56. only 64 at noon. maybe not the greatest day to be outside for lunch. especially those breezes kicking in, 58 at 8:00. best chance of drizzle tomorrow, some 90s back in the forecast we'll talk about that in a minute. first want to bring alexis in and find out what's going on this morning? >> not a lot. we had a crash in the lower deck of the bay bridge. zooming in on traffic maps, we had a bit of a back-up at the tunnel on the lower deck those

antioch to concord 14 minutes, 101, san rafael to san francisco looking good in the north bay in the green, 15 minutes. a local letter carrier commended for helping thwart a crime. they commended him last night. he was delivering mail two weeks ago when he saw two men coming out of a house with a suit case and duffel bag. he knew the owner was in the hospital and he calle the home was burglarilized. they were able to track hem down. sold for 2.3 million dollars, bones that are 150 million-year-old and may be of a dinosaur no one has seen before. if it turns out to be previously unknown species, the winning bidder may have a chance to name it. the skeletal remains discovered in wyoming in 2013 and measure 30 feet long, 9 feet high. very few can pass up waffles
