from the streets and hiring more police officers to tackle the problem. others talk about adding more homeless shelters and assistance. right choice voting in play today with some candidates emphasizing to voters who they should pick as the second choice. we have a message from each candidate on our website if you need to study the issue a little further go to abc7news.com. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. thank you so much. we'll also be deciding on several ballot measures today. they include regional measure 3. that would increase tolls at all of our bay area bridges with the exception of golden gate bridge by $3 over the next seven years. 4.5 million measure would fund 35 projects with the goal of reducing traffic by increasing ferry service, improving bus systems, and replacing b.a.r.t. trains. two former san jose mayors announced they blocked the measure yesterday saying they would bring relief to the bay area's horrible traffic issues.

cupertino's mayor is against the measure. >> i think in light of what's happened at the federal government in the last year, we ought to be asking corporations to step up and help us >> he also said it's too much of a burden on low i object come drivers. >> other measure proposition 9, state initiative that would ensure new transportation revenue is spent only on transportation projects. it's a companion measure to the $0.12 gas tax approved last year. proposition e would ban the sale of flavored tobacco and nicotine products including menthol, hookah and baking products. we'll have coverage tonight as results come in at 9:00 and 11:00 p.m. before you head to the polls, check out the complete election guide at abc7news.com. it has everything you need to know including links to find your polling place.

this is the play that will forever define 49ers receiver dwight clark. the catch helped the team win the first of five championships in the '80s and '90s. to niners fans he was just as great off the field as on the field. >> he died yesterday since battling als since 2015. he didn't announce his diagnosis until a year ago. sports director pointed out clark was always friendly with fans even when most of them would want to talk about the same story, the catch. longtime friend lucy was saddened to hear of his passing. >> the last few weeks were so tough, because it affects breathing. his wife, kelly, bless he respected dwight's wishes of not wanting to be on a ventilator. >> former 49ers owner eddieieie

organized a gathering with teammates in april. the president said knbr got together, it's kind of inspiring when you see the debilitation that he's suffering physically and then those eyes start sparkling and then that smile comes on. his speech is strained but he uses those phrases that you know so well that are so dwight clark. he was only 1 years o6 >> he'll be missed. two men arrested on a sexual assault in sonoma. >> a 28-year-old woman found outside sonoma safe way claimed she had been sexually assaulted. she said she was pushed into a car in san francisco after leaving a nightclub and driven to sonoma. over the weekend these men were arrested. freddie lopez and cristian quintero. cell phone records used to narrow the timeframe of when the car crossed the golden gate bridge and then detectives caught a break.

>> one of the detectives sat there and watched during the time she crossed the golden gate bridge, noticed a black vehicle with a neon rear light, like a license plate light that was really bright. he remembered seeing that vehicle on other surveillance vehicle in sonoma. >> pretty amazing. this the image of the vehicle they used to determine the identity of the driver. they are trying to connect them to other unsolved sexual assaults. the death toll in guatemala climbed to 69 after the eruption of the volcano fire and drone video shows the communities there buried in ash. the eruption sunday sent searing mud racing through neighborhoods. at least 46 others also have been injured and thousands of people have been evacuated from the danger zone and area just west of guatemala city. but we also want to show you this this morning. there is a sign of hope. look at this video. it's incredible new video. a rescuer there seen pulling a

bus ridership is down across the bay area and the cause is creating more traffic. according to marin independent journal ridership on golden gate transit declined 9% from july to march compared to the same period a year before. the cause? buses are late because there's so much traffic. that makes people frustrated so they get back in their cars and that creates more traffic. plus the bay area home and rental prices driving out more folks more likely to ride a bus. police chief staying put. mayor garcetti had nothing but kind words for scott but announced next lapd chief will be 37-year-old veteran michael moore. scott was one of three finalists for the job. he actually spent 27 years with the lapd before coming here to san francisco 18 months ago. chief scott said, quote, i remain committed to the work ahead to maintain public safety, reduce crime and strengthen the

charges of planning a school shooting in pleasant hill. fbi reported police friday regarding threat against valley view middle school. investigators found social media message between two students threatening a mass shooting on the last day of school. pleasant hill police served search warrant at the home in martinez where they seized several firearms. the 13-year-old suspect arrested and booked into contra costa juvenile hall for terrorist threats. pleasant hill police asking anyone with informationononononn incident to inform them. our media partner bay area news group reports jerry hill from san mateo would introduce a bill this week that would require fire departments to submit reports to local gomping body to ensure they meet state standards. the investigation found 11 at large fire departments in the bay area missed inspection deadline for more than 90% of apartment buildings and schools

campaign. fellow judges in santa clara county support persky on the grounds judges must maintain independence and not be swayed by public opinion. voters have the choice of two on the ballot if persky is recalled. reporting live, matt keller, abc 7 news. voters will decide which two candidates in the governor's race will go onto the november election. >> new bipartisan poll that shows gavin newsom and john cox pulling away from the field. however, california charter school association advocates recently spent millions on ad like this one to boost antonio villaraigosa's bid for governor and endorse former mayor of los angeles because he supports increase in funding and access to charter schools for low income students. charter school opponents worry they will take away choice to attend charter schools if he's elected governor. >> any sort of artificial pause

way up to become general manager. in march 2017 he announced he was diagnosed with als. last year they honored him and he spoke that day from a luxury suite high above the field. >> you know i'm going through a little thing right now. i need your prayers and thoughts. >> clark has survived by his wife and three children, daughter casey and two sons dwight and max. dwight clark was just 61 years old. in announcing his death on twitter, his wife said he passed away surrounded by loved ones. joe montana called clark a vibrant, charismatic soul. here is a tweet from jerry rice, love you, bro, r.i.p. tom brady posted he watched the catch in question and ambushed him at the orthodontist. he called him a hero. we have many more reactions to his passing on our website. abc7news.com.

this morning pittsburgh police want to know who sent drugs to a business. workers at tony's auto repair called police last night when they unexpectedly received a package containing a powdered substance in the mail. police say they treated this like hazmat calling kotb cost county hazardous material teams. they dressed up in full body suits and determined, yeah, it was drugs. santa cruz sheriff's department want your help identifying a man hugging a girl in live oak. investigators say the 11-year-old was with her mom when this stranger grabbed her from behind. the girl's mom and the clerk kicked him out of the score. if you recognize this guy, call the santa cruz sheriff's office. wildfire season is upon us.

porch it may be chilly. peninsula 56, nearing 2 at noon, mid-60s through the afternoon hours. 58 if you're headed to the kids activities, may take a blanket. some of our warmest temperatures will barely get there. a few cities up in the north bay from 1:00 to 4:00 we could touch 80. look how quickly it drops off back down to 66 degrees by 8:00. all right. i was listening to your tease. you promised to take us to the bay bridge toll plaza. what's going on. >> those metering lights on very early this morning. 5: 05. that was due to disabled vehicle past treasure island. that is long gone. damages done does not take much as you know to slow down this east bay commute for folks heading into san francisco and beyond. very early start at the toll plaza. that means we've got an extra long back-up into the maze. see the delays and flyover on folks from 880 really the only ones moving along without problems are the carpool lanes.
