>> what a player. incredible stuff. first we'll talk about the weather. you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. here is mike. >> let's drop in on live doppler 7 to see what we're tracking this morning. a lot of gray out there. a little more widespread than yesterday. still waiting for some areas of drizzle to pop up. if they do, let us know so we can let everybody else know. the broezs, that's the big sory. you can see them gusts from 10 to 22 miles per hour. over the water, at least the bay, no clouds. over land, a lot of clouds this morning. temperatures today almost exactly like yesterday. 50s this morning, mid 60s at noon and upper 60s at 4:00 away from the coast. then jacket weather during the evening hours. how about the commute this morning, alexis? >> it's been pretty quiet, mike. we don't have any significant issues to talk about. we've only had a couple crashes, one on eastbound 580, so the lighter side of traffic. they're still working to clear that, just one vehicle involved.

that's still blocking the two right lanes right around high street. we have not had any delay approaching that all morning. a quick check of the richmond side of the richmond-san rafael bridge. last time we looked at this, we had two vehicles heading toward us on the westbound side of 580. at this point several more, but obviously no major issues. we'll take a look at drive times coming up next. an update now on the breaking news i mentioned a few minutes ago involving former 9ers qb colin kaepernick. yahoo news reporting his teal team wants to subpoena president trump in a case against the nfl. his lawyers want to force the president into that on going legal battle between kaepernick and the league. you probably know that kaepernick was really at the forefront of the controversy surrounding players kneeling during the national anthem. he was the first player to do so. if the president is subpoenaed, this would aim to get the president to say he had some sort of an agenda siding with

the nfl. it's going to be really hard to do and the president would likely refuse to do so. at least one american city taking aim at uber and lyft, taking a big step to put limits on surge pricing. >> the city is honolulu, the first in the u.s. to do this. uber is responding. matt keller live in san jose this morning. >> reporter: good morning. so many people take uber or lyft to get here to the san jose airport. the more customers, the more likely you'll see surge pricing. should there be a cap on how high your fares can go. honolulu could be the first city in the u.s. with that limitation. city council approved a bill preventing surge pricing if the fare is higher than the maximum price set by testify city. uber called it outdated taxi-still requirements on ride share. >> personally i'd like a cap. but you know, the free market will decide what carrier you're going to use.

so if uber is too expensive, i'm going to use the other guy. >> reporter: uper says unlike taxis, riders know up front what they'll pay before accepting a ride. honolulu attorneys will review the measure before it goes to the mayor. he would have ten days to decide if he's going to veto it. live at san jose airport, matt keller, abc 7 news. a new squad at the fbi san francisco field office helped stop a recent shooting threat at valley view high school. >> it was formed after the prkland high school shooting and a rise in threats across the country. officials say because a lot of resources are needed to investigate the threats, all their longer-term investigations were suffering. >> we think creating this group that are totally responsible for addressing these types of threats is a far better use of

these resources. >> a 13-year-old student was arrested in connection with the valley view threat. police also say they found guns in the student's home. the two men facing off for governor in the november election are not wasting time get their message out. both democrat gavin newsom and john cox spoke yesterday about how they'd be the best leader for california. one issue the candidates are at odds over, the 12 cent gas tax. >> -- just looking for short-term gains. obviously my opponent is going to make that a big issue but will offer nothing in terms of an alternative. empty rhetoric. >> fix the cause of the problem i.'s the special interest corruption, the waste of money at caltrans. that's what i'm going to be devoted to when i'm the governor. >> president trump tweeted his congratulations to cox yesterday. take a look what newsom reemployed to that tweet with. please campaign for him as much as possible.

scammers are making phone calls to try to steal your money annual personal information. the federal communications commission says it's received numerous complaints. the scammers make the phone calls pretending to be chinese consulate employees. more than 30 victims have lost a total of $3 million to these scams. the highway patrol released video of a helicopter crew rescues an injured climber in yosemite. the 47-year-old man fell about 200 feet while free climbing north dome and suffered major injuries. the helicopter crew hoisted the victim up and took him to an ambulance waiting nearby. a lot of people talking about this story this morning, the non-violent drug offender pardoned by president trump is speaking on gma this morning. alice johnson was released yesterday after serving nearly 22 years of a life sentence. he was convicted on charges of

. we're back at 6:14. a poll out this morning reveals how hard it is to find housing in the bay area. >> according to the bay area council, 53% of voters say it's much harder to find housing than last year. 76% say it has gotten somewhat more difficult. the good news from the poll, nearly half a million households are willing to build a granny unit to help the housing crisis. i don't know if that's something we can throw a party about, but okay. people who are moving from the bay area to elsewhere are mostly heading east to sacramento, especially

lighter beezs, means warmer temperatures tomorrow. the real heat is coming next week. for most of san francisco, mid to upper 50s. daly city at 56, marina at 59, balboa park at 58. the mission 62. that's as warm as it gets. it will feel cooler with the breezes. as far as the east bay, afternoon haze and sunshine after cloudiness this morning. mid to upper 60s for you. oakland only 63. san mateo 64. the warmest temperature in redwood city at 65. mountain view about 67. san jose sunny and pretty comfortable. 71 degrees. milpitas 68. look at the upper 60s to mid 70s. still saving money without having to run the air conditioner. in the north bay, ukiah and santa rosa pushing 80. as far as temperatures tonight, we've got upper 40s in the north bay valleys.

here is my accuweather seven-day forecast, a little push and pull as temperatures tomorrow warm up and we pull back saturday and warm up sunday. then we just say forget it. let's just have a heat wave and keep things steady for a while next week. good morning, mike. unfortunately we do have pretty significant issue here if you're going to be traveling on westbound 80 heading towards the richmond area. this is technically still in hercules. westbound 80 before pinole valley road, a motorcycle is down. that's blocking the two left lanes. it sounds like there are potentially serious injuries. emergency crews arriving on the scene. we know what happens whenever we have a crash blocking in this area. that will likely back upp into vallejo. bay bridge toll plaza looking heavy, metering lights on at 5:22 this morning. westbound 80 highway 4 to the maze 26 minutes. we don't have anything blocking once you get past the metering

lights. southbound 101, san francisco to sfo. new at 6:00, relief for commuters in san francisco. according to the examiner, muni will start running its new trains with two cars starting on wednesday. sfmta got safety certification for longer trains. the change will ease crowding on the jude dough line. more multicar trains should hit the rails next month. officials say they're waiting for camera equipment stuck in customs in china. early morning hours of october 9th. six drivers rescuing people. one of the driver's first stops was the brookdale memory care facility. that's where staff began loading the patient. by the time this driver left, they took every seat. you see this camera. it showed him a second ago reassuring passengers as they left for the shelter. he was the only perp that really knew the terror that was ahead. >> i was just trying to project an image of everything is okay, we're going to get through this and get you to your place. >> and you're thinking? >> i'm hoping we get to their place. >> by the end of the night six drivers saved 400 people. they never got a medal for this work, but with the release of the work, santa rosa's bus drivers are finally getting their due. >> they deserve nihon or we can give them. i cannot imagine looking out of those windows and seeing a sea of embers. amazing. >> a new recommendation from aaa, change your tires more

now at 6:30, a fast moving fire tears across part of the east bay during the evening commute. fire crews working late into the night to mop up the mess. >> you've got to look at your screen for this one. this is one of the wildest cases of alleged road rage that you will ever see. one more game. the warriors on the verge of another nba finals victory. this morning oakland's viral dance mom is facing off with a cavs fan. could it be a sign of how friday's game will go? we'll see. >> the price for your morning cup of coffee has gone up. >> seeing all the special effects behind her, smoke coming out. >> all the glitter. >> i feel like this is a little

hercules and pinole. a crash involving a motorcycle blocking the two left lanes. we have injuries reported, too. using our distance measuring tool, you're up to about a three-mile backup. that is getting closer to the vallejo area. southbound 101 across golden gate bridge, we're incident-free in the north bay. the commute looking great. fire crews were still monitoring an east bay fire late into the night. a lot of you saw that smoke as it was coming from a junk yard. three people ended up getting hurt including a firefighter. cornell barnard live in pittsburg. >> reporter: good news about the firefighter. they will be okay after injuring their hand. lots of water, lots of foam continues to be seen around here, around this auto dismantling yard, right next to this landscaping business. we're seeing smoke continuing to rise from the back of here as this fire continues to smolder. it's a remind of yesterday's dramatic fire fight.

check this out. thick black smoke could be seen for miles. you may have seen it on your drive home. sky 7 was overhead. these firefighters attacked the brush fire which spread into the wrecking yard around 5:30 p.m. officials issued an air advisory. jason stanley owns the wrecking yard and was worried about losing heavy machinery that was parked inside. >> looks like it's getting under control. i pray there's minimal damage. when you work for, and to see it could be gone, it's scary, you know. that's what puts food on the table. >> reporter: a lot of the equipment was saved, in fact. firefighters say a candle burning in a tent in a homeless camp was the likely cause of the fire. two more people suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation. one of them was taken to the

hospital. we're live in pittsburg, cornell barna barnard, abc 7 news. this morning the warriors are just one win away from back-to-back nba titles. >> last night kevin durant had his best postseason game ever to almost single handedly lead the dubs. scored 43 points on 23 shorts. k.d. also grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out seven assists. it was a huge performance, thank goodness, on a night when steph curry and clay thompson client for just 21 points. warriors survived a slow start and pulled away for a 110 to 102 victory to take a 3-0 series lead. abc 7's mindi bach caught up with kevin durant after the game. >> it's a step in the direction we want to go, to be champions. one more win to do so. i loved everybody's poise tonight, the sense of urgency. we kept fighting and kept playing. we made shots down the stretch. tried to have some fun out

the victim was maggie mamer. a friend says mamer was being forced to move out. police arrested her roommate, 47-year-old lisa gonzalez. she's due tore ab rained tomorrow. prosecutors want her held without bail. a teacher in the south bay is in trouble for what he is calling a joke, but what others say was a racist gesture directed at a student. abc 7 news was in san jose yesterday when activists for people of color held a news conference about the incident in april. the unnamed teacher is on paid administrative leave from santa teresa high school. activists say a black student was in pe class when the teacher, who is white, allegedly said stay away from me and then used a rope to make a noose around his own neck. >> it is appalling we have children trying to be educated in an atmosphere like this. we are all responsible for raising and educating our children. >> activists are considering a civil rights lawsuit against the school district. the case was taken to the da's

office. and that office deemed it a hate incident, not a hate crime. no charges were filed. 6:36 now. the race for san francisco mayor is still too close to call this morning. less than a percentage point separates london breed and mark leno. according to the latest count, roughly 75% of jane kim's voters chose leno as their second choice, while 25% chose breed. that since is what's pushing leno ahead despite breed having captured the most first place votes in the first round. the candidates have different views, of course, on the instant runoff system called rank choice voting. >> this is the one that we're dealing with as it relates to this race. for now we're stuck with it. >> it pro motes more positive campaigns. if i want your second vote, i'm not going to drop a bomb on you. i think we saw that in that race as well. >> 13,000 ballots came in yesterday alone. those postmarked on or before election day are valid as long

and mid 60s for the afternoon hours. let's turn it over to alexis. what are you watching? >> a sig alert, a pretty serious crash if you're traveling on westbound 80 through the east bay. it's right on the line between hercules and pinole, within 80 before pinole valley road. a motorcycle is down and it does sound like we have serious injuries to that rider. the two left lanes are blocked. this is a sig alert. that means at least 30 minutes before they get these lanes closed, possibly longer than that. chp saying they're not sure how long it will take. the backup almost to the carquinez bridge. 11 miles an hour, 6 miles an hour. if you want to use surface streets, they'll probably save you a little time. westbound 580 tracy to dublin one hour and six minutes for you. westbound 4, antioch to concord, in the yellow at 28 minutes. we are still looking okay southbound 101 san rafael to san francisco. no delays there. i want you to check out your screens right now. this is crazy, one of the

scariest cases of alleged road rage you will ever see. this happened in sacramento on monday. you can see the driver of the suv ramming that honda over and over again. i want to point out the driver of that honda was able to get out of their vehicle before this happened. but then the driver of that white suv got out. there you go, he is stomping on the windshield of that other vehicle. that suspect is now in custody. this all started apparently after some type of disturbance happened on the freeway, and then that white suv followed the honda off of the road. so just crazy. >> unbelievable video. >> amazing. a good thing nobody was in the back seat on that side. >> can you imagine if there was a child or something -- >> police are saying it looks like he was under the influence of narcotics which provides an explanation. >> that explains it a lit bit.

i knew something had to be done. hurricane sandy really woke people up, to showing that we need to invest in this community. i knew having the right partner we could turn this place around. it was only one bank that could finance a project this difficult and this large, and that was citi. preserving affordable housing preserves communities. so we are doing their kitchens and their flooring and their lobbies and the grounds. and the beautification of their homes, giving them pride in where they live, will make this a thriving community once again. ♪

you can definitely hear it. now look at it. that's mother nature, the power, the strength, the awe of this massive tornado ripping through wyoming last night. the local paper there says there were no ped yacht reports of damage or injuries. those are the kind of tornadoes we like to watch, out over open fields. here is a look at what's going on back here at home. a lot of activity on the east bay. alameda, the hornets are graduating at 4:00. breezy and sunny with temps about 60 degrees. you head up the hill to skyline boulevard, temperatures even cooler as we head into the afternoon hours. the titans in the upper 50s as we head into the evening hours. 102 in palm springs, 74 in l.a. 81 in sacramento and 71 in tahoe. that's not tahoe, that's the golden gate bridge. but still a beautiful backdrop
