>> announcer: live where you live, this is abc7 news. >> 50,000 pounds of illegal fireworks seized in a massive raid. now at 11:00, the quiet east bay community surprised to hear to say the least, some of those explosives were right under their noses. good evening, i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm alma daetz. officials announced the bust today one of the biggest in state history. abc7 news reporter alicia has more on the east bay connection. >> reporter: in oakland, hazmat teams, the bomb squad and cal fire raided a building with explosive material inside. illegal fireworks and arrested seven people. >> these suspects from been ill legally importing, transporting, storing, distributing and ultimately selling the products of dangerous fireworks throughout california.

>> reporter: atf agents were in this quiet neighborhood in walnut creek arrested jack and his wife tanya. the couple in their 60s a are part of this elaborate fireworks ring. it took two weeks to arrest everyone. atf agents were in this house four fiemz in one week. inside they found more fire works, explosive devices and a mac 10 assault weapon. >> that's terrifying and shocking. i can't believe an assault rifle, too. that's -- wow. >> reporter: neighbors describe the couple as friendly, a bit quirky, but harmless. and they were at your wedding. >> yeah, with our two little girls. >> reporter: tonya works as a bookkeeper while jack repairs cars in oakland. he's really into burning man. >> he has a really cool jet powered flame tloer that he built several years ago. >> reporter: investigators believe the ring has been running for 30 years.

lisa, abc7 news. >> new at 11:00 not an o outrageous crime of illegal dumping was caught on security video then posted on twitter to catch those responsible. watch. can you believe that? the driver of this white pickup truck dumped a load of broken concrete slabs onto east 17th street near 23rd avenue and sped off. oakland mayor lib i schaaf tweeted disgusting. a crew showed up later to clean up the mess. >> london breed and mark leno are separated by 255 votes for san francisco mayor. department of elections shoetz leno with 59.9% of the vote and breed with 49.91. there are still around 80,000 ballots to count. leno surged ahead of breed thanks to rank choice voting. he picked up thousands of second place votes from jane kim supporters. leno and kim had encouraged voters to select the other as

their number two choice. >> a major new development tonight in the deadly crash involving a tesla on auto pilot in moup tan view. the ntsb's new report questions the safety of the auto pilot feature and reveals the car actually accelerated in the final moments before the crash. in march, 38-year-old walter huang was on his way to work at apple when his tesla slammed into a safety barrier that had been damaged by an earlier crash on highway 101 about ten days ago and had not yet been repaired. the ntsb said hwang had been using his auto pilot 18 minutes 55 seconds before the crash. he had set his auto pilot to 75 miles an hour and was following a slower vehicle. the model x stopped following the lead car and three seconds before the crash it accelerated from 62 to 70.8 miles per hour right into that collapsed safety barrier. the ntsb report also confirms that the model x's battery burst into flames and bystanders

removed hwang from the wreckage and he sadly died later at the hospital. the i-team's dan noyes has a number of exclusive reports about this tesla crash on our website, abc7news.com. click on sections then i-team. >> a shooting near san francisco general that forced its emergency room into lockdown, he we now know the name of one of the victims who died. abc7 news reporter kate larson has the latest. >> reporter: sky 7 overhead san francisco general hospital's emergency department, after it became a crime scene when severalar h to draw their weapons after one of the drivers initially refused to get out of one of those cars. the shooting took place a mile from the hospital at the bernal dwellings, a housing complex on caesar chavez street and treat way. three men all in their 20s were shot as deputies said they found one man at the scene who later

died. the medical examiner said his name is jaime pool. the other two men are in serious and critical condition. one woman told me the shooting happened inside her home. the blue building right there. she said she wasn't home at the time but doesn't know why anyone else would have been inside either. >> we are investigating to see where they were injured, kwek people, looking for surveillance footage find anything we can to help us. >> reporter: the bernal dwelling apartments have been the scene of many shootings over the years. police are hoping surveillance cameras will help them track down whoever is responsible for the most recent shooting. in san francisco, kate larson abc7 news. >> in a separate incident a woman was fatally shot in san francisco's excelsior district this morning. it happened at 11:00 a.m. on mission street near santa rosa avenue. the victim was rushed to the hospital where she died three hours later. no arrests have been made so far. >> a warning about this video we are about to show you. it shows a troubling attack on a person who is lying on the sidewalk in san francisco's

tenderloin neighborhood. the attacker walks up to him and then there kicks the victim several times as you see that attacker was wearing a suit, black beanie and was holding a briefcase. happened in late may on level enworth street between golden gate and mcallister street. police are asking for your help to identify the attacker. take a good look. >> a santa rosa woman is recovering from a hip injury after she was gored by a buy son at yellow stone national park. park officials 54-year-old kim hancock was in a crowd of people who got within ten yards of the animal. the buy son became agitate and had charged the crowd. she was treated and released at a nearby hospital. that is according to the santa rosa press democrat. rangers warn people to stay at least 25 yards away so this group may have been too close. >> petaluma high school is defending its decision to cut off their valedictorian's microphone during her graduation speech when she went off script to speak about sexual assault.

>> even when some people on this campus, those same -- >> stanford bound louisville sites didn't get to finish her speech. she said the contents of it had been part of a difficult negotiation with the school. she said it's a matter of free speefrp. >> students aren't listened to, that people are mistreated when they're victims of sexual assault on campus and the arts and music and everything, because i've been in band for four years, need more funding. >> the school district defended its right to cut off her mike. she finished her speech in a video posted on youtube. >> facebook is partnering with the government tonight to try to solve some of the bay area's traffic problems. the billion dollar plan includes repurposing part of the dunbar ton bridge. abc7 news reporter carlos salcedo has that story. >> reporter: the bridge that connects the east bay to silicon valley. >> living in the bay area it's getting busier and busier.

>> reporter: like many drivers, zach finds himself stuck in traffic for hours in his day will you commute from hayward. >> i tell the wife, i'm going to be home for another hour and a half. >> reporter: two years ago facebook funded a million dollar study to find ways to alleviate the congestion sam trans to get the project off the ground. >> facebook really has a stake in this because they're located right in this corridor. so a lot of their workers are coming through here every day and dealing with that congestion. >> reporter: the solution, to add bus express lanes and revamp the century old dunbar ton rail bridge for passenger transit. as it stands the dunbar ton bridge is not seismically sound which is why it is no longer in use. it would have to be completely torn down before a new one goes up. and the project that size doesn't come cheap. >> the estimates for the rail bridge itself would be somewhere in the ballpark of a billion dollars. >> reporter: when everything is said and done, the price tag for the entire project could reach up to $2 billion. where that money will come from
