so there has been another animal attack in yellowstone national park. >> the latest incident was a bison charging a crowd of people and goring a 59-year-old woman. the crowd came within 15 feet of the bison. they recommend a safe distance of 75 feet. two other recent attacks involve elk. you don't think of elk as being aggressive. we're getting a new look of dramatic video of erupting lava from kilauea's volcano. >> here it is. red hot, flying there, some hundreds of feet into the air. >> lava has destroyed more than 600 homes on hawaii's big island. the volcano is still very active, and they have no idea when this eruption will slow down or if more lava-spewing vents will start to open. >> it is amazing to get those totals on how many homes have been destroyed. and it's because officials are getting some new images after

flying over it, and it is devastating for a part of the island. so the faa is investigating the emergency landing of a small plane on an interstate highway in gainesville, florida. >> it happened during a training flight with a student pilot. here is david curley. >> reporter: a striking sight for gainesville, florida drivers as a plane lands on their highway. it was a small plane in trouble. the tower wondering, as those drivers saw the cessna landing on i-75. >> we've got a plane that landed down on the interstate. >> reporter: officials say the pilot actually did a good job of finding a break in the traffic and putting the plane down between vehicles. >> by the grace of god, nothing struck it. no injuries. >> reporter: the plane owned by a flight school apparently suffering engine trouble, landing safely with two people on board. this part of the interstate is surrounded by swamp, according to a police officer who said the pilot had little choice.

david curley, abc news, washington. >> the pilot is now being applauded for a job well done. he put it down great. no damage to the airplane, no injuries to any passengers. didn't hit anybody down on the ground. >> and you look at the landing, it was fairly textbook for a highway. >> apparently. >> a runway. >> i don't know about textok. they say as they started recognizing there was engine failure, the pilot had already started picking out spots, potential spots if they weren't able to make it back to the airport. so he was well prepared. quite a lesson for that student. when we come back, oprah becomes a part of history. and a cast member of the '90s show "party of five" goes topless. you dirty bastards, i know who you're thinking. you're thinking.

good morning. i'm kendis gibson. >> and i'm diane macedo. here are some of the top headlines we're following on "world news now." president trump may get a less than friendly reception as he arrives in quebec for the g-7 summit. he is meeting with allies after engaging in a public spat over u.s. tariffs. the president may soon face a subpoena stemming from colin kaepernick's case against the nfl lawyers. they want the president to testify about his conversations with team owners, as some players refused to stand for the national anthem. washington, d.c. is all caps this morning. >> the washington capitals have won the first stanley cup in franchise history. captain alex ovechkin lifted his first major trophy after the caps' win over vegas last night.

the president and kim jong un will be meeting at an island about 20 minutes from what you are seeing now. as brad milky melky tells us, the president is not focused on the big meeting. >> i'm here in the start here studio. when it comes to that huge summit, president trump says preparation overrated. the president said attitude will make the real difference. >> i don't think i have to prepare very much. it's about attitude. it's about willingness to get through this time. but i think i've been preparing for this summit for a long time. >> but for the dozens of diplomats that have tried to script this event, it was a jaw-dropping moment. martha raddatz has gotten a head start to singapore and i asked, can these leaders really just wing it? >> you really don't know what president trump and kim jong un will do in that room if the dynamic changes. if one says something that the other doesn't like, then what happens? i'm sure they've prepped president trump to the extent he

the "post" reports he ordered members of his security detail to drive him to multiple locations in search of those lotions. we all like hotel lotions. the reports also involved picking up dry-cleaning. a separate report says he frequently sends staffers to fetch his snacks. he is the subject of a dozen federal investigations. and a former aide of the intelligence committee has been arrested. james wolfe is expected to make a court appearance today all on charges that he lied repeatedly to investigators about his contacts with news reporters. while building their case, prosecutors secretly seized years worth of a reporter's phone and e-mail records. that reporter had been in a long relationship with wolfe. the case is the first known instance of the justice department going after a reporter's data during the trump administration. the lack of immigration reform is being felt across the country by families finding themselves in difficult situations. maggie rulli has the details.

>> reporter: while a comprehensive immigration deal remains elusive, real people are caught up in the mess. this man is facing deportation after he went to deliver a pizza to a military base in brooklyn and was detained and separated from his wife and two children. >> his concern always is the babies. he was everything for them. >> reporter: new york governor andrew cuomo reached out to the family telling the wife that the state will pay for his lawyer and saying, quote, anything we can do to help we will do. a background check on his city id revealed he was an undocumented immigrant with an active warrant for deportation. his story comes as the government's policy to separate families who enter the country illegally is under fire. california federal judge said if true, the policy, quote, shocks the conscience. ruling to let a class action lawsuit continue. the trump administration insists they are prosecuting crimes of illegal immigration and since children can't be sent to jail families must be separated.

meanwhile, in philadelphia, a judge ruled they cannot cut off grants to the city. >> it is to prevent a bully. >> reporter: meanwhile, republican leadership says they're making progress. so far, there's no concrete plan. as for this man, his family's already filed a petition to stop his deportation, but he could be forced to leave the country as early as next week. diane and kendis? >> it's on the front pages of the new york daily news. and crews in guatemala have suspended search and recovery efforts with the death toll from the country's deadly volcanic eruption holding to at least 99. villages are buried under up to ten feet of ash, that in some areas is still smoldering at temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees.

officials say they can't get rescue vehicles in because their tires would actually melt. now close to 200 people are still missing. and over to hawaii then. officials there say lava from the erupting kilauea volcano has destroyed more than 600 homes. lava flow into the ocean has created nearly a mile of new land. the flow is still very active, and they have no idea when this eruption will slow down. dozens of survivors from the pulse nightclub massacre are suing the city and police department saying they didn't do enough to try to stop the shooter. they're accusing the city and police of violating civil rights saying they took too long to arrive at the club. an off-duty officer abandoned his post which allowed the shooter to go inside. the shooting two years ago left 49 people dead and 53 injured. and the mother of the affluenza teen is in trouble again.

she failed a drug test after getting out of jail for failing an earlier drug test. investigators say she and her son fled to mexico while he was on probation for killing four people drunk driving when he was 16. history was made by the first campaign ad featuring a same-sex kiss. the democrat says he will stand up to president trump and deliver progressive results. the ad first aired during fox & friends. he goes through a series of issues that he says would infuriate mr. trump. >> and what's the number one way i piss off donald trump and the republicans? take that, trump. >> that was maladeno kissing his husband. if elected, he would be the state's first openly gay governor.

>> reporter: his attorney says the case fits a pattern of bad behavior. >> mesa has had a culture of hurting people, killing people and shooting people. this is sad and it needs to stop immediately today. >> reporter: the police department already under fire after this takedown of an 84-year-old grandmother in february. and the fatal shooting of an unarmed man in a hotel hallway. that officer fired and later acquitted of second degree murder. >> this is a trend. there's something in the training or you have to have some type of accountability in that department that's weak. there's not a message being sent to officers on the ground that this is the kind of behavior that won't be tolerated. >> reporter: the mesa police chief says he's already making changes but calls the video of robert johnson's arrest troubling. >> this in no way represents the
