today. our reporter was in the middle of the frenzy. >> reporter: welcomed with much fanfare, the back-to-back champs touched ground in oakland this afternoon. steph curry holding the larry o'brien trophy and kevin durant clinging onto the finals mvp one. >> this is special. every year, you know, i mean it was harder to get here this year, but just to be able to come home, it's awesome. >> i thought our guys played probably their best game in the playoffs last night. so saved the best for last. >> reporter: the champs greeted many of their fans, some who waited hours outside landmark aviation. >> all of them are so humble, that's what i love about them. you know, they're not selfish. >> reporter: some even bringing out the brooms for this historic sweep with dub nation still celebrating last night's win, the city of oakland is gearing up for yet another parade. >> and i got to thank everybody for celebrating so beautifully last night. we had no incidents. h we a very joyous city.

san mateo high school. it broke out inside a home on north el dorado street, then spread to the house behind it on north delaware street. >> it was kind of scary, you know. being afraid if my house caught on fire or something like that, you know. >> so far there have been no reports of any injuries. investigators are trying to find out what started this evening's fire. new developments with the san francisco mayoral race. london breed took the lead today just 498 votes ahead of mark leno. she now has 51.3% of the the t yesterday leno was in the lead by 144 votes. breed led on election night, but leno took over after rank choice votes were counted. the department of elections tweeted today it's still processing provisional ballots. approximately 42,000 ballots still need to be counted. a man shot by san francisco police during a chase early this

morning knows the feeling. he was also shot by the sfpd six years ago. today's shooting happened just after midnight outside the taupe lounge. police say two officers were running after a suspect on grant avenue in north beach. sources tell abc7 news the suspect's name is oliver bar sane as, identified as a gang member. that shooting led to protests in the mission district. trash talk, tariffs, timing. those were just a few things that went down at this year's g7 summit in canada. meantime, the president is en route to singapore for an historic meeting with north korea's leader. abc7 news reporter lisa gulezian is live with details. >> reporter: first president trump arrived late to the meeting on gender equality, and then left the summit early to get to his meeting with kim jong-un, which takes place on tuesday. but whether the summit was a success, well, that depends on who you ask. it was all smiles during this

you need help right now, okay? >> reporter: around 10:00 p.m., calls started coming in that the fire had arrived in ventura. >> we now have fire in my canyon right now. >> reporter: residents were now dealing with the loss of electricity and cell service. >> i just got a text message from my parents on foothill. >> okay. >> and they're surrounded by fire. they can't get out. there's no cell coverage. the towers are down. i'm more concerned with the neighborhood all asleep and no reverse 911 calls. >> sonoma county issued a scathing report about the readiness of emergency officials during the north bay wildfires. the report was issued yesterday. it found the public warning system's technology is outdated. also because the public relies so much on alerts and warnings, their expectations exceed current practices. the emergency management program that oversees the response is

underresourced and understaffed. leadership roles are not made clear. that affects communication and coordinated efforts and very few staff members who prosecuare as roles during a disaster have actually completed the recommended emergency training. another fault, staff at the emergency operation center, which was the central location for fire response, lacked situational awareness impacting response, coordination and planning. there were also problems communicating with external fire agencies during the fires. there are not enough trained staff members and in some cases they're not even aware of existing emergency response plans. as for the public information hotline, it was not properly equipped or staffed during the fires and did not have enough non-english speakers. each issue has a recommended solution and supervisors will vote on those recommendations on monday. the tubbs fire that hit sonoma was not included in a cal fire report released yesterday that blames pg&entor starting a dozen wildfires last october. they burned from napa to

low 60s right now. the cooling process is slowed when you have an active wind. only 55 right now in san francisco. we're at 57 in san jose. 61 that current number in concord. tomorrow we're going to be in that pattern we've been in for several days. in the morning, it's not all that bad out there. really light winds generally across the region. the only exception, a little breezy right along the coastline. as we get that daytime heating and as we go into the afternoon, by 3:00 the winds will increase and into the early evening hours we do expect by 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, those winds once again gusting anywhere from 15 to 30 miles per hour. so it will be a windy finish to the weekend. overnight tonight here's the call. we have high clouds overhead right now, will give way to clear skies after midnight. mid-40s to lower 50s your starting temperatures tomorrow morning. tomorrow is a nice looking day. a lot of sunshine throughout the day from start to finish. it's just that wind we have to deal with once again in the afternoon and the evening. so 69 in oakland.

about 74 for san jose. 76 in santa rosa. breezy in san francisco, high of 64. palo alto up to about 70 degrees. i do want to give you an update. we are tracking two storms in the tropic. tropical storm alet ta is weakening. it's entering cooler waters which help to weaken storms. winds about 60 miles per hour. it's moving to the west, so really no concern with this storm. it's going to move out to sea. what we are watching is another storm. this is new today. tropical storm bud is increasing its strength. winds, 40 miles per hour. we do expect this storm to strengthen in the coming days. future tracker showing you by monday evening, likely becoming% category one storm with winds 90 miles per hour. then as we get into wednesday and especially into thursday, it could track very close to cabo san lucas with winds of 50 miles per hour. so we'll continue to update you on this storm. but just know by wednesday and thursday, it could have some rough surf and high winds around cabo. accuweather seven-day forecast,

from starvation. abc7 news reporter david louie has the story of one cunning canine. >> reporter: this terrier mix is a proud mom of six puppies, four female and two male. the mother was a stray, undernourished and hungry for food as she tried to nurse her pups. her desperation prompted her to steal a slice of pizza. the pizza heist happened right here along the edge of the bay at cooley landing park in east palo alto. a couple of workers were out here having lunch when the mother dog came up and snatched a slice of pizza. the mother dog led an animal control officer to her litter nestled among the tall grass. the puppies were only a week old. that was in mid-april. >> she had just been struggling to survive on the streets, really just stealing whatever she could to eat and then to nurse her little puppies. >> reporter: they were brought to the peninsula humane society in burlingame where siex weeks later the pups have been weaned. they're ready for adoption. all in foster care, they were given names of the british royal family. >> so the puppies that we have

kerr, the warriors have gone to the finals four times and won three nba championships. now, he has one year left on his current contract, and one of his top priorities this summer is to give him a new one. kerr joked he needs a new deal because he bought a house in san francisco and it will take him years to pay it off. normally with a track record like this, an extension would be a no-brainer, but it gets a bit complicated with his past medical issues. either way, you'll see kerr on the bench next year and years to come, which is perfectly fine with steph curry. >> he set the tone his first year with how we were going to play, the vibe in practice, playing music, enjoying coming to work every day, overcommunication when it comes to all 15 guys knowing their role and how things can change throughout the course of a year. there's a true kind of authenticity about him that is refreshing. >> kevin durant wins finals mvp

giants closed the gap in the third. nick hundley with a three-run shot. that cut it to 5-3. fourth inning, now 5-4 until bryce harper crushes his 19th of the year. the nationals beat the giants 7-5. a's and royals at the coliseum. second inning, paulo orlando with an rbi base hit off chris bassity. 1-0 kc. danny duffy struck out ten. some nice defense behind him. check out the grab by ryan go s goins. alex gordon would add somesuran. a solo home run. the royals win 2-0. crazy finish to the san jose earthquakes match against los angeles. with a quakes player getting unfairly ejected. it all started in the second halfme half. san jose trailing. stopping on a dime then chipping the ball to tie the game at two.
