ce behind the forces. share a message today at force dot uso dot org. mplths live, where you live, this is abc 7 news. good morning, everyone. i'm carolyn tyler. thanks for joining us on this sunday, june 10th. let's start with a quick look at the weather. >> good morning to you. we just have a little bit of high cloudiness out there. starting out much drier this morning than we were 24 hours ago. so in terms of temperatures, that has brought us down anywhere from 5 to 14 degrees cooler with the drier atmosphere. as a result, temperatures look like this -- 43 in napa. 48 in cloverdale. 52 san mateo and oakland with 5 in san jose.

plenty of sunshine. the sun up at 5:47. low 70s today. by noon time inland. it will be windy at the coast. we are climbing through the 60s by the middle of the day along the bay. but by afternoon, we will be armer. it will still be breezy and we'll look for temperatures to just begin this upper trepid tod trend today. details in a few minutes. the champ are home. the warriors made a triumphant return to the bay area from cleveland with dub nation basking in the glow of the team's third title in four years. the time has used the motto "strength in numbers," and that clearly applies to the fans as well. hundreds lined up waiting to catch a glimpse of their heroes yesterday. abc 7 news was in the middle of all the frenzy. >> reporter: welcomed with much fanfare, the back-to-back champs touched down in oakland carrying the trophy and kevin durant

clinging on to the finals mvp one. >> this is special. every year. you know what i mean? it was harder to get here this year, but just to be able to come home with the dub is awesome. >> i thought their guys played the best game of the playoffs last night. so they saved the best for last. >> reporter: the champs greeted many of their fans, some who waited hours outside landmark aviation. >> all of them are so humble. that's what i love about them. they're not selfish. >> reporter: some even bringing out the brooms for this historic sweep with dub nation still celebrating the city of oakland is gearing up for yet another parade. >> and i got to thank everybody for celebrating so beautifully last night. we had no incidents. we had a very joyous city. >> reporter: and with ongoing festivities until tuesday, you can bet there will be a few sick calls. >> i'm calling in. sick! sorry. i may lose my job.

>> reporter: but coach kerr thinks it is all going to be worth it. >> i'm making it an annual thing. so look forward to it. >> reporter: in oakland, abc 7 news. >> the warriors' championship parade will be on tuesday in oakland at 11:00 a.m. the route is going to be a little shorter than last year. it starts at broadway and 11th street, turns right on 20th, then right on harrison to 19th. right on lakeside drive and ends at 13th and oak. this kind time around, no rally at the end. fans can beginning lining up as early as 6:30 in the morning. if you are planning to go to the parade, taking b.a.r.t. is probably your best bet. the agency's getting ready for a busy day on tuesday. b.a.r.t. estimates its busiest hours will be from 9:00 in the morning until 11:00, and from noon until 2:00 in the afternoon when people start leaving. on the day of last year's parade, b.a.r.t. carried more

in person, you can catch the warriors' championship parade right here on abc 7. our live coverage starts at 10:00 tuesday morning. this morning, investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that burned two homes in san mateo. abc 7 news was at the scene near san mateo high school after crews brought the fire under control. it began inside a home on north eldorado street and spread to a house behind it on north delaware street. firefighters evacuated several other homes. they feared the flames could damage other structures. >> yeah. it was kind of scary, you know, being my house could have caught on fire or something like that. you know? >> officials say nobody was injured. the red cross is providing residence for two people displaced by the fire. we still don't know this morning who is is san francisco's new mayor. the race has taken yet another

turn. london breed took the lead yesterdayust 498 votes ahead of mark len know. len know has 49.87%. he led friday by 144 votes. breed was out front on election night, but then len know gained the top spot after rank choice votes were counted. but again as of yesterday, breed is the leader. the san francisco department of of elections tweeted it is still processing provisional ballots. approximately 42,000 ballots still need to be counted. russian president vladimir putin says he'll meet with president trump whenever washington is ready. meanwhile, trash talk, tariffs and timing are just a few of the things that went down at this year's g7 summit in canada. now president trump is en route to singapore for that historic meeting with north korea's leader. a . >> reporter: it was all smiles during this photo-op at the g7

summit. but this photo may have a been a more realistic look at how it went with some negotiations with president trump sitting alone on one side of the table. the president suggested welcoming russia back into the group after being kicked out in 2014 for its illegal annexation of crimea. >> they threw russia out. they should let russia come back in. because we should have russia at the negotiating table. >> we will not stop trying to convince our american friends and president trump that undermi undermining in makes no sense at all. >> reporter: moving into tariffs. canada's prime minister denounced the president's plan to slap hefty tariffs on steel and aluminum imports on key u.s. trading partners. >> it would be with absolute certainty and firmness that we move forward with retaliatory measures on july 1st. >> reporter: the president responded on twitter while en route to singapore.

from my parents on the span foothill. they're surrounded by fire. they can't get out. there's no cell coverage. the towers are down. i'm more concerned with the neighborhood all asleep and no reverse 911 call. >> sm >> sonoma county has issued a scathing report about the readiness of officlsuring the north bay wildfires. the report was released and found the public warning system's technology is outdated. also because the public relies so much on alerts and warnings, their expectations exceed current practices. the emergency management program that oversees the response is underresourced and understaffed. leadership roles are not made clear, which affects communication and coordinated efforts. very few staff members who are assigned roles during a disaster have actually completed the recommended emergency training. staff at the emergency operation center, which was the central

location for the fire response, lacked situational awareness impacting response coordination and planning. there were also problems communicating with external fire agencies during the fires. there are not enough trained staff members, and in some cases, they're not even aware of existing emergency response plans. as for the public information hotline, it was not properly equipped or staffed during the fires and did not have enough non-english speakers. now each issue has a recommended solution. supervisors will vote on those recommendations tomorrow. this afternoon, the oakland a's will host north bay day, a special event to honor those affected by the fires. the a's have handed out free tickets to 3,000 north bay residents. they'll also recognize firefighters and first responders before about the game. and the a's players will take the field with members of santa rosa's mark west little league.

good morning, everyone. waking up to clear sky. a few high clouds. here's live doppler 7. the system yesterday that brought all the wind has moved on out. updating you on the tropics. tropical storm aletta is no longer a concern but what's behind it is bud, it is still a storm but it will quickly strengthen into a hurricane and toward cabo. tonight minimal hurricane, category 1, winds of 75 miles an hour. then it quickly strengthens to 95 miles an hour. then look at the path. takes it right to cabo and it becomes a tropical storm. we'll have to watch this closely. so between now and the next 24 hours we begin to feel the effects off the coast of mexico. so although they escaped aletta, now it looks like bud is really looking to make a direct hit as a tropical storm in to cabo. as we look at walnut creek this

morning, you see clear sky. 52 in san francisco. same in oakland. 55 in san jose. 47 gilroy. half moon bay is at 50. looking at a clear sky here with numbers from the low 40s in napa. as we cool significantly, the atmosphere is drier as that system passed off to the north and east of us. with that, the temperatures cooler. 47 by the delta. 53 in concord. sunny and warmer today. hot inland for the next three days. for the rest of us, winds ease up and cooler weather by the end of the week. sunny but winds up to 30 miles an hour at the beach. 70 in santa cruz today. a look at the wind profile, notice by 10:00, gusty winds over 20 miles an hour at the coast. but as we go through the afternoon, the sea breeze kicks up and we're at 15 to

25-mile-an-hour. it will be pretty breezy throughout the day today. by tomorrow that onshore flow really backs off and that's why temperatures on monday reaching the 90s out by the delta. 70s around the bay so a pleasant bay but it is going to get warm quick. here's the parade day where numbers could be reaching near 100 degrees out by the delta. mid 90s in our east bay valleys. oakland, upper 70s. this is about the 4:00 testimony. it will be in the mid 70s by the time the parade wraps up. wednesday still looking warm. temperatures in the 70s in san francisco. so three days of warmth on the way. today we are looking at a day of transition, still breezy with 64 in san francisco. 69 in oakland. look for 70 today on the peninsula. also in fremont. 72 in santa rosa. numbers still a bit below average and we'll make up the difference tomorrow. the accuweather shows plenty of 80s inland, 70s around the bay, 60s at the coast. but, boy, is it going to be hot

palace. the supervisor says he supports measures authored by state senator scott wiener that would ban sales of guns and ammunition at the cow palace. this is video from outside the facility in april during a gun show. last week san mateo county supervisors voted unanimously in favor of the proposed state legislation. a pop-up store is attracting brides looking for bargains in san francisco. yesterday abc 7 news was on west portal when hundreds of gently worn bridal gowns went on display at the good will store. the pop-up features low prices, along with personal shopping services that many customers would expect at high-end boutiques. one young lady was shopping for her wedding in november. >> i think it is very cool. a wedding dress you wear it for just a few hours and you probably never going to wear it again. i think it is cool.

the country's top sailors are moving here to the bay area. a first of its kind olympic training facility is opening on treasure island. abc 7 news anchor jessica castro explains how fast usa hopes to change the face of american sailing. >> oh no! there we go. >> reporter: this is no ordinary sailing lesson. these kids are learning from one of the best in the world. we put on life jackets and took a ride with an olympic gold medalist as he taught a pair of fourth graders the basics of sailing. the u.s. olympic team is moving to san francisco and will open

their very first facility on the west coast. a home training base like no other. >> it's huge. it's something i've always wanted. >> reporter: drone view 7 flew above clipper cove where the fast usa facility will be located for advanced sailing and technology. >> we got together with u.s. sailing and decided really what we needed was a full-time home for the olympic athletes, the staff, the coaches, the physiotherapists, all of that group. as we got together and looked around the country, we decided that san francisco would be the best place for that permanent home. >> reporter: they'll be close to silicon valley where advances in collage can help the sport and the windy weather in san francisco is perfect. >> god create wlad d what we th the best sailing venue on earth. >> reporter: but it is not just the olympic athletes who will benefit from the move. these novice sailors will also.. >> for these kids to see that there is a lane already sort of

carved out in front of them i think is really empowering. >> reporter: fast is a three-way partnership among u.s. sailing, the st. francis sailing foundation and the treasure island sailing center. the foundation and the center want to open up the sport to more diversity through community sailing programs. >> our goal through fast is to have a pipeline. >> reporter: they run this program for public schools in san francisco. each year introducing sailinging to nearly 1,300 children. >> i think it is a huge step forward for this country, for these silos that want to reach the top of the podium. maybe some of these kids are going to be the next generation that wins some of those medals in ten year's time. >> it is honestly one of the greatest sports. from such a young age you learn responsibility for your equipment, time and distance, sportsmanship. it is one of the only self-policing sports at the olympic games. >> reporter: olympic training on the water started this month but the fast facilities are still being set up.

once again but check out that sunrise. nice from our south beach camera where you will notice that even the bay looks quiet right now. temperatures around the bay are cool and live doppler 7 representing just some of the patchy high clouds out there. from our roof camera you can see the flag blowing just a little bit. 52 in san francisco and oakland. 54 in mountain view. 55 in san jose. 40s in gilroy. half moon bay is at about 50. yesterday we had some 70s here. today again low 70s in santa cruz right now it is 48 degrees. low 40s from nap thanapa, liver checking in at 48 degrees. golden gate bridge is clear. it is going to stay that way all day with a few high clouds and those onshore winds keeping it a bit breezy to gusty at times at our beaches. sunny around warmer, windy at the coast, hot inland the next three days. not talking about. we're talking monday, tuesday

south l.a. is very medically underserved. when the old hospital closed people in the community lived with untreated health problems for years. so, with the county's help we built a new hospital from the ground up and having citi as an early investor worked as a signal to others to invest. with citi's help we built a wonderful maternity ward and we were able to purchase an mri machine. we've made it possible for the people who live here to lead healthier lives and that's invaluable. ♪
