when i didn't deserve it. being here in her honor means am so grateful that i can carry on her legacy of doing more to improve all of th communitan fransco. thank you all so much for being here. >> you're watching london breed, san francisco mayoral candidate and presumed mayor, speaking, giving a quick speech after we heard from mark leno earlier today conceding the race to her. as you know, this has been a super close race with breed trading leads with leno multiple times in the course of the past nine days. leno held a news conference a little more than two hours ago and he shared a little bit of what he told the presumed mayor-elect.

>> i called supervisor london breed this morning to congratulate her on her victory and to wish her every success, both personally and professionally in her new job as mayor of san francisco. and she was very gracious and said that recognizing the serious challenges facing our beloved city today, that she was going to need all the assistance that she could get in making sure that we're successful in moving our city forward. so it was a very positive conversation. she is a remarkable young woman. she is going to do a very fine job, and we all wish her the best, because her success is san francisco's success. >> and breed will become the first black woman to lead san francisco once the election results are certified. also today, mark farrell, who has been interim mayor during this time until the special election could be held, he issued a statement.
