temperatures are starting to drop off a little bit. >> good morning on this thursday, june 14. thanks for being here. >> you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. let's check in with meteorologist mike nicco now. >> hi everybody. here is one sign things are starting to change. look at the clouds developing at the coast. three miles visibility at half moon bay. you're going to see more cloudiness this morning. grab the sunglasses. you'll still need them as sunshine is going to win out today. look at the winds gusting, 33 at fairfield. that's a stout sea breeze and that's why it's going to be cooler today. a look at san jose, 280 58 at the coast at noon and mid 70s for the rest of us. you'll notice the difference in the afternoon hours. still warm in some spots, inland 84 to 77 around the bay. a nice evening on the way. hope you get out and enjoy it with low to mid 70s at 7:00. here is alexis. >> good morning, mike. so far we're looking okay for

the morning commute. fairly light volumes, westbound 92 across the san mateo bridge. we haven't had any major issues this morning. no delays there, the east side of traffic heading towards us. not seeing delays heading toward the hayward area. mass transit looking good. no delays for b.a.r.t., 39 trains in service. muni, normal service no delays. ace on time and no issues there. heavy out of the central valleyment we'll check out tracy next. >> breaking news from the abc 7 live desk. german prosecutors say they have stopped a ricin terrorist attack. on tuesday authorities found the deadly toxin inside a man's apartment. he was arrested at his home in cologne north of frankfurt. prosecutors are investigating exactly how the suspect planned to use the toxin but said he was working on an attack in germany.

that's the latest here. back to you guys. >> jessica, thank you. london breed is poised to become the first african-american woman to lead san francisco as mayor. after her closest opponent mark leno announced his concession. the latest fount has breed with almost 2200 more votes than leno. today breed is set to give a victory speech at rosa parks elementary where she went to school as a child. officials say the earliest day breed could resume office as the next mayor of san francisco would be july 10th. alameda police released this surveillance video showing four suspects burglarizing a chevron gas station at park street and buena vista avenue. this happened last thursday. you can see the surveillance footage is crystal clear. they appeared to take cigarettes, whatever was in the cash register and other items behind the counter. if you recognize any of them, call alameda p.d. a san francisco city worker is dead after a terrible

accident. now we're learning more about the be loved employee and devoted mother. a car broke loose from the bed of a tow truck yesterday and killed 34-year-old lilianna pers addo. abc 7 news reporter lilian kim has the story. >> she knew her job. >> those who worked alongside lilianna are devastated to lose a friend, colleague and mentor. she and the rest of her crew were repairing a leak on 28th street when she was struck and killed by a car that rolled off the bed of the tow truck. she was one of only of a few female plumbers for the city. >> lilly didn't want know help. she knew how to do it on her own. she took care of her business and she washe one doing most of the work. the guys were on top feeding her tools. she's in there making the connectio connections. >> reporter: san francisco police are investigating the accident. it's unclear how to car broke loose. tow truck operator casey

martinez was called in after the crash. he j hooks and place and they fell off, he hit a dip somewhere where the jar hooks fall off. >> she was a single mom of a 2-year-old daughter and was in the process of renovating her home. >> she was always sharing this is what's going to happen, playroom for my daughter. great heart. really great person. >> today marks one year since a gunman killed three co-workers at a ups facility in san francisco. facility located at 17th and utah will hold a private memorial. ups drivers were killed in that shooting. the shooter jimmy lamb was also a ups driver and he turned the gun on himself. victims of the golden state killer could receive compensation through a bill

that's making its way through the state legislature. joseph james deangelo was arrested in april and charged with 12 counts of murder, suspected of being a serial rapist in the 70s and 80s. the bill would allow victims who come forward between the end of 2019 to be compensated. normally victims have just three years after a crime is committed to seek restitution. so this waves that. the money comes from restitution and penalties and fees paid by offenders. 25 people have applied for this so far. victims could get up to $70,000. >> it is early in the season, but the heat and high winds this week are causing some concern. fire officials in contra costa county are asking the county do their part to prevent another disaster like the north bay wildfires. >> everybody should be doing other things to make sure they're safe as well, which is making sure you've got the tree limbs trimmed up around your home, make sure you don't have anything touching your home, make sure your gutters are cleaned out. >> contra costa counties has

already put out at least two fires this week. a fire in lafayette destroyed a small home on tuesday and another in pinole prompted evacuations later that same day. >> north america had one goaaaaal. that goal was to bring fifa 2026 to the region. mission accomplished, but that's years from now. abc 7 news reporter matt keller live at levi's stadium. >> you think your television is big? check this out. people will be watching the world cup games on that big screen right there, and right under it the bar known as the longest outdoor bar in north america will be open for the early birds, free coffee and doughnuts. today is the first day of the world cup. saudi arabia takes on russia. the game starts at 8:00 a.m. the quakes are going to show every match of the world cup, even the ones that start at 3:00 a.m. for the big games like

to be a little easier to do outside today, whether it's exercising because there's no extreme heat at the ocean where it won't be quite as breezy as it has been. same thing on the bay, a little calm her. the east bay, 60 at 8:00, 2:00, 65 at 8:00. in the north bay, 80 at 4:00. mid to upper 70s throughout the afternoon hours. santa rosa northward about five degrees warmer than that. san francisco 59 at 10:00, 64 at 2:00, 58 by 8:00 and 57 by about 10:00. definitely a change in the air today. we'll see how long it will last in the accuweather forecast. we're checking out the bay bridge toll plaza. no metering lights just yet. the cash lanes moving a little better. not seeing quite the stackup on the left-hand side. our traffic maps, still have a

lot of green hanging around which is a good thing. there's one exception that we can usually count on this early in the morning, down to about 15 miles an hour on westbound 205. no significant delays, nothing blocking along that route. next traffic update coming up at 5:20. one of the most picturesque places in california can also be one of the most dangerous. take a look at this. a chp helicopter and fruk key firefighter crew just received a swift water rescue award for this rescue of a swimmer who was stranded on a rock in the middle of two massive waterfalls along the yuba river. the swimmer fortunately was not seriously hurt. santa clara county supervisors approved $600,000 to process a backlog of rape kits. >> the county has 20 sexuallll assault kits. right now it takes approximately 94 days to process one.

we have more seniors being let loose into the world today, starting early this morning at mission san jose high school in fremont. the warriors graduate at 10:00. it will be 62 at 9:00, 65 at 10:00. by the time the ceremony is over, about 72 degrees. a lot of sunshine and hopefully bright futures for those folks. a north bay brewery is keeping the promise to help those affected by the october wildfires. sf gate reports russian river brewing company has raised more than $1 million. some will pay for five new homes for senior citizens who were displaced after the fires. the brewery donated 300 bikes for kids and worked with local non-profits to help families. if you're in anouy d can make voice cal you can text help. the center is equipped to handle 911 texts.

responsibility. >> reporter: 21-year-old ryan burke pleading guilty to nine charges related to the hazing death of 19-year-old tim piazza. burke, one of 26 former fraternity members facing charges, was scene on surveillance video giving piazza a handle of vot vodka during a hazing event which ended with piazza falling down some stairs. taking 12 hours of finding the pledge inebriated and unconscious. coming up, we'll hear more from burke's attorney. i'm gio benitez, abc news, new york. this visit by kim kardashian to the white house changed the life of alice johnson, a woman serving a life sentence for a drug conviction. kardashian and johnson got a chance to meet face-to-face. kardashian went to her home in south new hichb.

afternoon hours in the mid to upper 70s. now let's head over to the peninsula where about the same thing, 57 at 7:00 with some clouds and then sunny and 73 at 4:00. 78 in millbrae. low to mid 60s along the coast. in the south bay we warm to 58 to nearly 80 degrees at 4:00. a lot of upper 70s to low 80s. we'll get mid 80s around los gatos and only 76 in milpitas. in the north bay, 85 by 4:00. a few 90s around cloverdale. our last stop will be our east bay valleys. 59 this morning. comfortable. 84 in the there are your 90s in antioch. about two to six degrees cooler tomorrow from the coast inland. our coolest day will be saturday. father's day is still looking like a great day for outdoor activities. good morning, mike.

our quiet morning continues on the roads. we don'ts have any major issues and we're looking live at our san rafael camera. southbound 101 through the north bay, those guys are cruising along at the speed limit, if not a little bit faster. want to take a 3d look at things on 880. traffic flows wide open, in the green as we head northbound towards oracle stadium. not seeing any significant slowdowns, the southbound side is looking good, too. won't have a ton of company if you're about to head out the door. our drive times looked okay, too. walnut creek to dublin on 680, 14 minutes. southbound 101 santa rosa to san francisco at 48. northbound 17, the drive through the santa cruz mountains, highway 1 to los gatos coming in at just 21 minutes. ♪ >> does that sound familiar? 12 grand pianos are returning to san francisco's botanical garden. this is video from last year.

sounds like everyone made it out of the vehicle okay and it's off on the shoulder. no delays approaching that scene. i will keep an eye on that. it is heavy a little further east of that out of the central valley, 205, 13 miles an hour. filling in but nothing blocking along that route. hearing about a new crash in the south bay. we'll head there next. breaking news happening in lafayette. i want to show you this new video we just got, fire at a home near withers avenue and taylor boulevard. that's right near brookwood park. we just got this video in to our live desk. i want to show you how big those flames were. you can see firefighters on scene, this fire in the attic. it's out now. the fire marshal for contra costa county is on scene and t runs from the power pole to the home. trees that surround the wire may have been pulling on the wire,

interim d.a. diana becton has received about 94,000 votes and stands at 50.49%. she needs a majority of votes to secure a win or else there will be a runoff. her closest contender paul graves has 42% of the votes. becton was appointed last year after the resignation of former d.a. mark peterson. new mountain lion sightings in hillsborough. police are warning people to stay away from the animals and keep pets inside at night. recent sightings included the 200 block of darrell, 900 block of macadamia and 2800 block of churchill. that's where tom rubin lives. >> there was a buck sitting there, and the buck got startled about 8:00, and then the cat came bounding through and went up after him. >> police say the first citing was reported two sundays ago. the most recent one was this past sunday. a san francisco police officers is recovering from serious injuries after a

motorcycle crash. it happened near mariposa street and pennsylvania avenue yesterday morning. sky 7 above that scene. the 12-engineer veteran collided with a passenger vehicle. the driver is cooperating with police. the officer was rushed to the hospital and is reported to be speaking with family and colleagues. new developments with a controversial 124-year-old statue in san francisco civic center. some call it a racist and dpleeng. it may not be going anywhere at all. the board approved a rehearing on whether to remove the early day statue. in april the board voted to overturn previous decisions by the arts commission and historic preservation commission to move that statue into storage. the board of appeals plans to hold a rehearing sometime this summer. now a live desk update from abc 7 mornings. >> secretary of state mike pompeo says there will be no sanction relief for north korea

until kim jong-un completely denuclearizes. just a short while ago pompeo met with south korea and japan's foreign ministers in seoul. he pushed back on reports that kim jong-un and president trump agreed to a step by step process of denuclearization in exchange for sanction relief. meanwhile here in the u.s., president trump spoke to fox news. he seemed to go pretty easy on kim's human rights record. take a listen. >> he's still done some really bad things. >> yeah, but so have a lot of other people. i could go through a lot of nations where a lot of bad things were done. >> by the way, we should note this week's agreement between the two nations did not give details on when or exactly how north korea will actually carry out the denuclearization and still unclear this morning how the u.s. will verify any of their compliance. happening today, the justice department is releasing a report on the fbi's handling of the hillary clinton e-mail investigation. the report will address key

moves by former fbi director james comey. first, when he publicly announced his recommendation against prosecuting clinton and then when he told congress days before the 2016 presidential election the investigation was being revived because of newly discovered e-mails. new details this morning on the next phase of renovation at the presidio parkway. according to the cron castro valley, construction for a new green space above the tunnels is expected to begin by october. it's expected to open in early 2021. the trust says it will consist of three play meadows with great views of the golden gate bridge. going to be really june niek. >> i love that. let's talk about the weather. you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. mid to upper 50s along the east bayshore with increasing clouds as the sea breeze is touching you and actually spilling over the east bay hills and into our valleys. that signifies a break in the heat this afternoon. temperatures still 61 in antioch, brentwood 62. san jose 57.

51 in pacifica and albany. back here you can see the cloud cover taking over the san mateo bridge as we look off to the west. coastal drizzle, that's possible today and the next couple days. ferry ride, not as breezy and mass transit cool this morning at your stops, but only warm this afternoon. we or going to call it good. here is a look at the peninsula with the clouds starting to open up a little bit by 8:00. almost sunny complete bibi 10:00 at 66. low to mid 70s, falling back to about 67. in the south bay, 60 at 8:00, sunshine there, faster. 80 is where we'll spike at 2:00 and hang out in the mid to upper 70s through 6:00. here is our east bay valleys. look at that. where are the 90s? for most of us they're gone. out highway 4, antioch, brent wood, discovery bay, you still get it while the rest of us hang out in the low to mid 80s.

73 will feel great at 8:00. i came through the caldecott today. looks like they were still cleaning bore four. didn't seem to slow things down then. seeing anything now? >> no, looking good, especially through caldecott. we have a couple issues in the south bay. we've got a vehicle facing sideways on state route 87 just before you get to almaden expressway. not a lot of details yet. right now sounding like a solo vehicle collision. someone lost control and they're facing the wrong way there. one lane blocked. i'm not seeing a delay in either direction. southbound 87 the lighter side for the morning commute. i don't think that will cause a big backup. we'll keep an eye on that. a crash on the lighter side of things, 101 at 880, that's the northbound side. here we go, a collision at the 880 interchange on the southbound side of 101. looks like chp just arriving now. we possibly have injuries. i will keep an eye on that. again, i don't think that will cause delays either.

bridges looking good this morning, too. richmond-san rafael bridge, 16 minutes for you, 14 minutes across san mateo and only nine if you're heading across the dumbarton bridge. now to the headline about michael cohen. >> abc news that president trump's long-time personal attorney is likely to cooperate with federal investigators. the u.s. attorney for the southern district of new york is investigating cohen's personal business dealings, including his role in facilitating a hush payment to stormy daniels. this morning word is he's parting ways with his own attorney. former new jersey governor chris christy is talking about it on "good morning america." >> it's much more likely as to what happened is he can't pay them anymore. lawyers usually take off if the check doesn't come in. if i were the president, i would take a deep breath, not worry about this and let this kind of progress. >> cohen so far, he has not been charged with any crime. what exactly caused the napa earthquake in 2014? a new study may be giving us an
