accident. now we're learning more about the be loved employee and devoted mother. a car broke loose from the bed of a tow truck yesterday and killed 34-year-old lilianna pers addo. abc 7 news reporter lilian kim has the story. >> she knew her job. >> those who worked alongside lilianna are devastated to lose a friend, colleague and mentor. she and the rest of her crew were repairing a leak on 28th street when she was struck and killed by a car that rolled off the bed of the tow truck. she was one of only of a few female plumbers for the city. >> lilly didn't want know help. she knew how to do it on her own. she took care of her business and she washe one doing most of the work. the guys were on top feeding her tools. she's in there making the connectio connections. >> reporter: san francisco police are investigating the accident. it's unclear how to car broke loose. tow truck operator casey

martinez was called in after the crash. he j hooks and place and they fell off, he hit a dip somewhere where the jar hooks fall off. >> she was a single mom of a 2-year-old daughter and was in the process of renovating her home. >> she was always sharing this is what's going to happen, playroom for my daughter. great heart. really great person. >> today marks one year since a gunman killed three co-workers at a ups facility in san francisco. facility located at 17th and utah will hold a private memorial. ups drivers were killed in that shooting. the shooter jimmy lamb was also a ups driver and he turned the gun on himself. victims of the golden state killer could receive compensation through a bill

that's making its way through the state legislature. joseph james deangelo was arrested in april and charged with 12 counts of murder, suspected of being a serial rapist in the 70s and 80s. the bill would allow victims who come forward between the end of 2019 to be compensated. normally victims have just three years after a crime is committed to seek restitution. so this waves that. the money comes from restitution and penalties and fees paid by offenders. 25 people have applied for this so far. victims could get up to $70,000. >> it is early in the season, but the heat and high winds this week are causing some concern. fire officials in contra costa county are asking the county do their part to prevent another disaster like the north bay wildfires. >> everybody should be doing other things to make sure they're safe as well, which is making sure you've got the tree limbs trimmed up around your home, make sure you don't have anything touching your home, make sure your gutters are cleaned out. >> contra costa counties has

lines and overturned some cars. emergency officials say at least six people were hurt. on the west coast we're dealing with 43 wildfires burning in 12 different states including here in california. the largest fire is this one that you're seeing video of in colorado where more than 26,000 acres have burned. right now more than 3,000 people have been evacuated because of these wildfires. reggie? >> thanks, jessica. a new study suggests the napa earthquake may have been caused by a stretching of the earth's crush. the 6.2 magnitude quake in august of 2014 killed a person and injured several more. it cost more than $500 million in damage. according to the report, land between napa and sonoma valleys is stretched each summer as groundwater levels fall and that causes the ground to sink and contract. that, in turn, increased stress on the west napa fault system which finally reached the breaking point. lake tahoe's water clarity hit a record low because of what
