children sickened because of hazardous materials. an incident at swim club in san jose. stooif was over the scene at shadow brook swim club. the san jose fire department says poom chemicals mixed together creating a toxic gas. >> some patients reported vomiting trouble breathing and other symptoms. you can see a team was dispatched to decontaminate patients and see if they needed treatment. a driver was hurt after crashing into a house in lafayette. happening on glennside drive around 8:15 this morning. you can see the damage, the gaping hole. the car was damage and the driver had to be kpr indicated from the car and taken to the hospital. police say speeding was likely a factor in the crash. and neighbors say speeding on that street is a big problem. in santa rosa, a small fire last night has led to large worries about pg&e and its equipment. less than a week after calfire defaulted the -- faulted rather

cows were found dead in a rural pastor santa clara county. you're looking at pictures tweeted by the sheriff's off. investigators brought in heavy equipment to help them learn more. some of the dead cows had been buried. others found on the ground in a grassy area near henry w costate park. stooif flew over the same area about 20 minutes ago and found investigators working in a field off highway 152. a fairfield woman is in serious condition with life threatening wounds after being severely malled by her own dog. the attack happened in the backyard of the 29-year-old's home on kentucky street. a neighbor heard the screaming looked over the fence and says saw the dog attacking the woman. arriving officers found the woman lying face down bleeding with the dog standing over here. police say the dog spotted the officers and charged at hem thp one officers fired his handgun killing the dog. >> the case against the teacher

at a private high school is expanding. brandon genest was arrested on charges he molested children. he was caring for as a baby-sitter. new investigators from the east coast are getting involved as well abc 7 news reporter laura antingmy explains why. >> obviously it's grown exponentially from when we initially looked at the case. >> contra costa county prosecutors expect the case to grow against a walnut creek man accused of molesting young children he baby sat. >> we anticipated the potential for other victims. he has a tie to the east coast and the bay area. and i will say we are actively investigating several case right now. and i anticipate that there is a possibility there will be additional charges coming. >> 27-year-old brandon genest is currently charged with five felony counts involving two children age 6 and 7. including lewd acts on a kield, indecent exposure, child molesting and possession of child or youth pornography. according to walnut creek

police, the incidents occurred while genest was baby sitting three young children at the family's home. two of the children told investigators genest shown here in the photo on his twitter page exposed himself while sitting on the couch. and encouraged the children to touch him. genest worked at a first year chemistry teacher at the bentley high school in lafayette where a spoke person told us he has been terminated. police searched his walnut creek apartment and seized computers hard drives and video equipment. >> when you have cases like this where it's an individual you trust and you bring in your home and entrust your children with them they need to live up to that trust. >> reporter: at this point the investigators say there is no indication any of the students at bentley were victims. genest is held on $1.2 millionb. hi n month. in martin easy, laura anthony abc 7 news. counties throughout the state report an increase in cases of whooping cough. alameda county has seen 180 cases between january and may.

that's compared to 40 cases within that period last year. doctors say there is a new epidemic every three to five years. the last one was in 2014. the centers for disease control recommendation vakss for all babe babies teenagers children and pregnant women. >> when you get that vaccine it helps create anti-body to protect not only you from the infection but the baby. marin county has seen at least 133 cases since the beginning of the year and there have been 11 in santa cruz county. other counties haven't released number. or early symptoms are similar to a cold. but after one to two weeks the symptoms can progress to coughing fits and a high pitched whoop sound. starting monday you will not be able to burn leaves and other debris in parts of several counties because of an increased wildfire danger. calfire will not issue burn permits in the areas it serves in lake, includesa, sonoma, napa yolo and marin and solano kfrts.

california voters may get a chance to weigh in on daylight saving time. the state senate today passed a bill asking voters to repeal the current system and give lawmakers the pou to adjust the time with a two thirds vote. support he is say daylight saving is outdated. opponents call the effort an expensive waste of taxpayer money. the bill goes on to governor brown. >> and international adventure is racing through the bay area tonight in a cape and superhero costume no less. his name is jamie mcdonald. he was born with a medical condition that limited movement as a child. but since recovering he staged marathon runs and bike rides to raise money for hospitals in england that helped him >> it wasn't for them i had wouldn't be here.
