led to a major medical scare. it happened in south san jose at the shadow brook swim club. >> david louie is live from the scene to explain exactly how this happened. >> reporter: well, kids as young as 5 years old were in the water at the time for a swim class. their parents nearby on the deck watching them. inside the building, someone accidently mixed two chemicals that caused an immediate adverse reaction. of t the secene was immediately declared a mass casualty incident. thr her three kids also began coughing. this was their week of swim classes. >> everybody started coughing at the same time. so i grabbed my youngest out of the pool. told the boys to run out. and everybody, i mean, at the same time, started running towards that way, the exit.

>> reporter: sky 7 was overhead as hazmat units began spraying water on 35 kids aadults exposed to the gas. it's believed that someone in the poolroom accidently mixed chemicals. >> we don't want anybody transported with the residue on them. we don't want to bring that chemical exposure to the hospital and create a problem at the hospital as well. they were decontaminated at the scene. >> reporter: this 19-year-old is a life guard at the swim club. as a pediatrician, she knows that symptoms may not surface immediately. >> there could be a he delayed response to your lungs. >> reporter: are kids more susceptible? >> probably. >> reporter: they were taken to nine hospitals, her children are okay but aren't sure about

finishing swim classes. >> they say they don't want to come back for swimming classes, but we'll see. i want them to come back. we'll see. >> reporter: mrs. hall's daughter and two sons are still complaining of sore throats. the building is still off limits. the fire department says there still is a high level of hazardous chlorine gas in the air. david louie, abc 7 news. new at 6:00, the naked body of a woman found floating in a fairfield creek today. but police say there's no evidence of foul play. someone on an amtrak train spotted the body and called police. an autopsy will determine the woman's cause of death. again, no immediate sign of foul play. they only say she appears to be 30 to 40 years of age. in milpitas, caltrans workers found a body off the tide of 237 by mccarthy boulevard. the mccarthy on ramp to 237 was

closed for over an hour while the coroner responded. no details have been released about the victim. overnight, fire sparked. take a look at the flames there. they didn't spread very far but they terrified people living nearby. cal fire has blamed pg&e equipment for starting last october's fires, the most destructive in state history. wayne freedman has today's story. >> reporter: the power pole on fiesh. a nearby homeowner recording it. jaclyn says by this point the worst who past after a pg&e regular laterde -- street. >> i heard the pop and saw it. >> reporter: jacquelyn and her husband and 2-year-old son had moved in on valentine's day.

thank you. six former employees of jawbone now face federal charges of stealing trade secrets and giving them to fitbit. they spent at least one year working at jawbone between 2011 and 2015. each of them received job offers to work at fitbit. federal prosecutors accuse all six defendants of knowingly stealing trade secrets from jawbone. lawyers for the two defendants in the ghost ship fire intend to subpoena schaaf. the case is of scheduled to head to trial on july 16th. they are discussing plea deals with the d.a. office. each faces counts of involuntary manslaughter. the vototally shows london

london breed was named acting mayor following his death. on january 23rd, the board decided to appoint an interim mayor. the earliest brieed can serve i july 10th. happening now, san francisco police are holding a town hall meeting about last weekend's officer-involved shooting that left a man in life-threatening condition. on saturday, police say two officers were chasing a suspect in north beach and then shot him outside the taupe lounge on grant avenue. no officers were injured. sources tell abc 7 news the suspect's name is oliver barcinez, also a known gang member, this is the second time in six years he's been shot by sfpd. a one year ago a worker shot

and killed two of his co-workers. a private memorial was held to honor the victims. the drivers were killed in the shooting. two others were hurt. the shooter, jimmy lamb, was also an ups driver. he turned the gun on himself. today marks one year since the apartment fire in london where 72 people died. today all of their names were read, followed by a moment of silence and a silent walk. the mourners wore green. it started as a small fire and swept up the 24-story building in 19 minutes. materials in the building burned much quicker than expected, including exterior paneling which was found to have failed safety tests. the tower will eventually be demolished. one year ago today, a gunman opened fire at the republican

chris nguyen, abc 7 news. as we mentioned minutes ago, there are protests across the country today over the separation of immigrant children. one of those is happening in showed outside city hall. melanie woodrow is there and tweeted this video. she is working on this story tonight which you can watch on abc 7 news at 11:00. this probably was not the 72nd birthday president trump had in mind. the state of new york is suing the trump foundation and its board of directors, which includes the president's children. a lawsuit accuses the charity of self-dealing that helped the president's personal and business interests. it seeks to dissolve the trump foundation and nearly $3 million in restitution and other penalties. the lawsuit wraps up an investigation that's been going on for nearly two years. president trump responded on twitter slamming democrats saying he won't settle the case. a scathing report is out
