we'll have sun and clouds. reaching 80 degrees around the bay. near 70. at the coast, still cool in the mid to upper 50s. sunsets at 8:33. even though we have that drizzle. shouldn't stop you from doing anything outdoors today. >> breaking news out of new jersey. at least one person is dead. 20 are injured. after a shooting at a 24-hour t. shots were fired at 2:45 local time this morning at art all night. organizers call that event one that promotes artistic. the police have recovered -- that's gunfire.

berkeley police are investigating a fatal drowning, a man was pulled from the water near the berkeley marina after apparently falling out of his canoe. abc reporter lisa a memin gulez has the details. >> reporter: the u.s. coast guard rushed to the berkeley marina by air and by sea. after a call came in before 6:00 of a man's body floating in the water. christopher hollis pulled the one-man outrigger canoe from the water after calling 911. i'm sorry for him. what was he doing out here this time of day in the wind. >> they found the vest, a few personal items inside and an oar. >> i was hoping it wasn't a

body. but you could see something. in the end, i got down to him. almost didn't see him. >> they pulled the man from the water and took him to shore. >> the coroner's office will transport him to the coroner's division where they'll try and identify him. >> lisa amin gulezian, abc 7 news. the controversy continues this morning over the trump administration's policy of separating children and parents who are undocumented immigrants. there are also unaccompanied minors, those children who cross the border by themselves and need help with legal proceedings. a charity has hit the soccer field to raise funds for those kids. abc 7

borders. >> the president with one swipe of his pen could end this policy tomorrow. >> and the trump administration insists that the detained children are being well-cared for. medically aided deaths for the terminally ill after being challenged in court last month. the right to die law has been reinstated for now. dion lim spoke to a bay area man whose late wife was the reason the law was enacted in the first place. >> it's frustrating because this law in effect for two years has been working. >> it's because of dandy arizona and the woman he still calls his life. she suffers from brain cancer and moved their family to oregon in order to die with the assistance of a life ending drug. she passed away in in november of 2014. >> it's significant for me.

i remember what she was going through and the chaos she was having to endure of leaving our home and move to another state. >> in the -- california's exercised their right to die. a uc berkeley study shows 76% support the legislation. they declared the law unconstitutional. >> it put a stay on the lower court's ruling while this appeals process goes forward. >> attorney john eisenberg has been watching the case closely and represents several terminally ill patients who want to die with dignity. >> i any a lot of terminally ill people are breathing a big sigh of relief because they know they can use the end of life option. >> he knows this is the beginning of a long fight ahead. >> this is the promise i made to so that no terminally ill individual would ever have to go through what she went through. >> dion lim, abc 7 news. now, we reached out to

several groups that oppose the right to die law. we did not get a response. they're trying to raise funds for children separated from their parents at the border. we have the story from the south bay now. >> hundreds of soccer fans hit the pitch at sacred heart in atherton. among them, undocumented youth who came to this country by themselves. >> i'm so glad they send me here and they leave me here in the united states. >> four years ago, this girl fled guatemala where she was being abused by a family member. she made the tough decision to leave everyone and everything behind for a better life on her own. >> i miss my parents. but i know that i am good here better than guatemala. >> it's stories like hers that

prompted for the tournament to be put on. it's for unaccompanied minors who crossed the border and face an uphill battle. >> it was a nice pre reprieve for the kids many who can't play outside in their home country because of all the violence. >> it's really unsafe to go outside. they have gangs, they have a lot of violence. they cannot do that. they don't have the privilege to go outside and play. >> that's why many of these immigrant children risk their own lives trying to cross. >> i tell the police if they want to send me back, send me to another country, but not to guatemala. and not to mexico. >> car lily no longer lives in fear. she obtained asylum and is now a permanent resident. not every child is as fortunate. carlos saucedo, abc 7 news. police in american canyon believe they've identified a car belonging to someone involved in a rash of vandalism we told you

about here on abc 7 news. home security cameras captured video of a dark blue car that appears to be a dodge charger. that car may be connected to someone shooting out of windows of more than 2 dozen vehicles between 2:00 and 4:00 friday morning. detectives are urging residents to check their home security cameras for anyone shooting at parked cars. a grassfire that broke out in concord yesterday afternoon quickly grew to 25 acres because of the high winds. it took fire crews more than two hours to fully contain the flames burning along the road between willow pass court and driftwood drive. our walnut creek camera captured the black smoke rising beyond those trees. the chp shut down traffic in the area while firefighters gained control. those winds are also responsible for knocking down trees. take a look at this one in campbe.

wdrom the ground at its base before toppling on to parked cars near the entrance of the courtyard by marriott on creekside way. police tweeted these photos to one residence of the high wind dangers. an even bigger mess in martinez yesterday when this 100-foot heritage oak fell on to a two-story home on ferry street near brown street taking down power poles and lines with it. the falling tree uprooted the sidewalk, crushed several vehicles causing the truck to catch fire. there were no reports of injuries. residents sheltered in place until hot power lines were secured on the road. the question today, frances, will it be as blustery? >> not as blustery today. it will still be breezy. max gusts near 40 miles per hour in spots. here's a live shot towards the bay bridge. what we're dealing with this morning is more extensive cloud cover. some cooler temperatures for

developing news in russia. moscow police are investigating a taxi cab crash that sent eight people to the hospital, including two mexican world cup fans. the cab crashed into pedestrians along a sidewalk near red square. the driver telling police he fell asleep at the wheel, accidentally hit the gas.

moscow police would not comment whether the crash would affect security measures for the world cup. the use of vehicles as weapons has been a security concern. the mexican embassy says the two injured female fans were not hospitalized. details on the other victims have not been released. three hikers are safe after being stranded for more than 11 hours on a rocky cliffside in pacifica. abc 7 news reporter cornell barnard shows us their dramatic and challenging rescue. >> reporter: a dramatic rescue unfolding saturday morning on a cliff high above the pacific. >> are you okay? >> reporter: three hikers cold, but okay, happy to be back on safe, solid ground. firefighters say a 23-year-old man and his two 13-year-old relatives were stranded on this pacifica cliffside overnight. i guess the tideey had t get toh et past that.

abc 7 news. a dixon man is hailed as a hero after he helped lift a truck off a woman's foot. it happened at 7 flags car wash. it's on east mont visa avenue in vacaville. jesse landers was vacuuming his car and he heard a crash in one of the stalls. a sedan slammed into the back of the truck pushing the back left tire on to its driver's foot. car wash employees used a jack to lift the truck off the woman, but it would not go high enough. >> heard her screaming. i could tell she was in pain. i put myself in that situation. i would want someone to help me. i decided to help her. i ended up getting in front much her. i lifted the rims and got it up high enough where she was able to get her foot out. >> landers thinks he lifted it up about 6 inches. he dead lifts 400 pounds but believes adrenaline helped in

this case. the woman is okay and out of the hospital. this is video captured when a tesla burst into flames in los angeles. the car belongs to hollywood director and producer michael morris. his wife says it was not in an accident when the fire broke out. they call it an extraordinary unusual occurrence. a company is investigating. you know this follows other incidents involving tesla, including a deadly accident in mountain view that raised questions about the car's self-driving system. it's not clear if this tesla was on autopilot. ♪ abc 7 news was in san francisco when music filled the air at one of the bay area's longest running street festivals. this marks the 64th year for the north beach festival attracting thousands of people who enjoy music, shopping and food. one of the people selling crafts

shares why she thinks the festival is so special. >> i feel like the crowd is a lot of locals. but then you have the tourists and the people that have actually come. i feel like there's a lot of history here. >> the north beach festival is open from 10:00 until 6:00. the blessing of the animals is at2:00 this afternoon. all right. if you're headed to that festival again today, it should be pleasant this afternoon. though a bit breezy again. here's a look at live doppler 7 and the satellite image. you notice extensive cloud cover all these clouds pushing all the way inland to sacramento, stockton. we are under gray skies right now. visibility is a bit limited, especially closer to the coast. half moon bay, down to 3 miles. the north bay limited visibility as well. 7 miles in santa rosa. elsewhere, we're dealing with the low clouds, but not

affecting visibility. the live shot for you. gray skies right now. temperatures are a little bit on the milder side. the cloud cover acts like a blanket overnight. san francisco 55, oakland 57, san jose 57 as well. gilroy, 53 degrees. this time, as we look from emeryville towards the bay bridge, san francisco is obscured in the distance with the low clouds. santa rosa, currently 53. napa, novato, fairfield all at 55 right now. concord, 59 degrees and livermore, 55 degrees. the winds are coming from the south. that's a little bit different. although calm right now, what it's going to do is we're going to see cooler temperatures for the areas facing the southwest area. then we're going to see the cloud cover pull away as the air moves towards the north and the air descends down the slope. it warms up and dries up. we're going to start to see clearing faster in the east bay and in the south bay.

our forecast animation also shows drizzle still possible in the santa cruz mountains, again the southwest facing areas. we've had a few hundredths of an inch through ben low man and -- by midday, the clouds pull back and clearing here. some cloud cover through parts of the north bay and still quite a few clouds along the coast. highs today will range from upper 50s in half moon bay, again, we'll still be breezy today, not as breezy as yesterday. san francisco, mid-60s for the north beach festival. oakland, 69 degrees. san jose, 75 degrees. and again, the warmest spot will be close to yesterday's temperatures. upper 70s to near 80. fairfield will be 80. antioch, 78. look for mid 70s through sabt b rosa, san rafael. clouds throughout the afternoon. lows tonight, cooler as well. we'll see the low to mid-50s. santa rosa, napa at 51. low to mid-50s around the bay.
