lot of people as the votes were being counted. i'm woerndering what it was lik for you. >> it's agonizing. the votes have been counted and i'm excited about moving forward and getting the job done for all san franciscons. the energy out feels so different. people are excited about the future. >> let's talk about once you hit the grounds running, your priorities in first 100 days. >> my priorities are some of the things i talked about throughout the campaign trial. i want to make sure we remove the tent encampments. i've been in conversation with a number of people who have places and rooms available. i want to make sure the budget gets past and we hire more police officers. i want to make sure that muni is running a lot better. there's a number of things that we'll need to do to get the city on the right track.

i'm gong to hit ting to hit the running and hopefully see amaze things happen within those first 100 days. >> of course you'll need cooperation from the board of supervisors and during this hard fought campaign tfrs really fakture efa -- it was really a fakturactured b. how do you get through that? >> we went through campaigns that are divisive. they lead to some channels and when i was elected, re-elected board president after my re-election to the supervisor seat we worked so well together last year with the goal. my goal is let's work together and i truly believe that we have a number of members of the board of supervisors who really care about france and getting the job done and we will work together to do that. >> one of the things you have to do is appoint someone to fill your district five seat that

covers hays valley western edition, some of those neighborhoods. what are the characteristics that you're looking for. >> i'm looking for someone who really cares about the city. someone who cares about the community. someone who understands there are challenges with district five that still need to be addressed. one who will work with people despite differences. i've had a number of challenges with constituencies but i still work with them regardless of those challenges for the purpose of taking care of the district. >> your election is historic. you'll be the first black woman to run the city. still talk a bit about being a trail blazer.

>> it feels incredible. what i've seen is young people, kids in particular are inspired. young girl who is say they want to be supervisor or mayor. something i never even thought of when i was their age. that's what's exciting about what happened here. electing a woman to be mayor. that's pretty amazing. i think san francisco is a great city and people are excited about that. it's important to remember because i clearly outline i'm prepared to deal with these challenges that we know exist around homelessness, housing public safe and things that matter to san francisco.

>> you have more first place votes than any other candidate. i think your story was compelling to a lot of people, ko coming from public housing and rising up. your grandmother passed away, i'm sure she's looking over you. >> i feel like she's always with me because her voice is a lot of times in my head. i find myself saying some of the things she used to say to me. i feel like i've become her. she used the pierce ears of folks in the community. people couldn't afrt for their ears to get peeierced.ierced.ied she did so much. i find myself preshting all she did. the focus for the community. all of that is part of who i am
