recently detained by i.c.e. the president blaming democrats for the policy tweeting saturday, democrats can fix their forced family breakup at the border by working with republicans on new legislation for a change. today immigrants who cross the border illegally charged with a crime instead of a civil offense. the president is willing to ease up on this policy if he can get funding for the border wall. >> the democrats can come to us as they actually are, in all fairness we're talking to them, they can change the whole border security. >> mark brought his son to the protest, he got emotional talking about the controversy. >> it's not very american. i feel if my son was taken away, i'd want people to support us. i don't know. it gets me. i just think it's really wrong. >> reporter: this group vows to keep fighting.

in richmond, cornell bernard abc 7 news. >> five undocumented immigrants were killed in texas when their suv crashed while chased by border patrol. they saw the vehicle traveling and believed smuggling was taking place. there were 14 people inside, the driver a u.s. citizen was arrested. >> in a rare statement on policy issues, first lady melania trump weighed in on the crisis. through her spokesperson, it says in part, mrs. trump hates to see children separated from their families and hopes both sides of the aisle can come together on immigration form. meanwhile, laura bush said these images are eerily reminiscent of the japanese american interment camps of world war ii now considered to be one of the most shameful episodes in u.s.

history. be sure to down load the abc 7 news app for the latest developments on the border. at least three people are dead after a 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit japan. it was early in the morning as commuters were headed to work. there are reports of several more deaths that need confirmed. at least 41 people were injured. tens of thousands don't have power or water. a warning for parents to be on the look out for a man spotted taking pictures of young children throughout the bay area. kate larsen has the story you'll see only on abc 7 news. >> reporter: police tell me they are investigating and say the man claims to be an amateur photographer but parents on the peninsula and san francisco spotted him taking pictures and it's left them feeling uneasy.

>> he was sneaky, he didn't ask her missions. >> she saw a stranger taking pictures of her 3-year-old son while he was getting her face painted so she snapped two photos of the man, which we blurred because he has not been arrested. >> he's smiling and looking at my son in way that looked like he was pleased with himself. >> there was other photos on there but i don't want to get into what they were. >> reporter: did any of the photos concern you? >> not criminally. >> reporter: she reported the incident to nearby officers. lieutenant todd was at the fairgrounds and escorted the man off the fairgrounds. >> they are subject to being photographed but still we don't know why individuals would want to photograph kids. >> reporter: she's a face

painter at the fair and saw the confrontation. he said she's never spoken to him but seen him taking photos for years. >> he comes around and takes pictures of the fair. >> reporter: she posted her photographs on a private moms group and other moms said they've seen him at the fair and other places. >> reporter: this mom who does not want to be identified said he took a picture of her 2-year-old son while she was shopping last week. >> i had an icky feeling but i didn't want to be controversial. i wish i had said something in the moment but i didn't. >> reporter: now lieutenant meford said the man does not have a criminal record but they're going to investigate now they've heard from more parents. we have their phone number on our website abc 7.com.

>> arson investigators are asking santa rosa residents to call them if they know anything about a series of small fires that broke out overnight. six fires burned in dry brush, the largest about one quarter of an acre. flames never threatened any buildings but officials believe someone set those fires. >> suspicious activities because of the number of sets in a short time in a small proximity. >> the fires burned close to tracks used by the smart train but did not impact rail service. a doctor is under investigation after a patient complained she was physically and verbally abusive. that interaction caught on video. >> carolyn tyler has the story. >> sit up. sit up. i'm having you sit up. >> i can't sit up. >> reporter: this emergency room doctor is banned after she was caught on camera mocking and

valuable and sentimental items with them. a great white shark washed up on a beach in santa cruise county this morning. you're looking at a picture of how big the shark is. he's covered with several gashes and cuts. a shark researcher doesn't think any of the wounds killed the shark. the animal is at a lab where a pathologist will try to determine what killed it. >> berkeley's last video rental store closed after being in business for 40 years. abc 7 news was there when customers rented movies for the last time. the owner bought the store in the 1980s when vhs was high-tech. he said it included three generations on some families and reflects how it feels to go out of business. >> it's a strange day. i've known it's coming. but when it's upon you, you feel different. you feel different. you know, mixed emotions.

low pressure to our east brought in that cooler air from the north, that is getting out of here and off to the east. what's replacing it, a big area of high pressure off the coast. this will be the muscle maker of the forecast. it will bring about warmer weather across the region. but 7:00 on your monday morning zoom in closer show you where the canopy of cloud cover is. across into the east bay, oakland, hayward, san francisco. patchy cloud cover as far south as fremont. it quickly pulls back to the coast mid-morning. you see that cloud cover early on monday, temperature starting out in the 50s, but by lunchtime, sunshine out there. mid 70s and by 4:00 it's a nice afternoon with our warmest spots not too hot in the mid to low

it hit during the rush hour in the osaka area. people protest, one of the rallies took place where i.c.e. holds people in richmond. several are demanding that president trump end the policy. at least 22 peole are recovering after being wounded when a gun fight broke out at an arts festival in new jersey. >> one suspect died, another faces several charges. we have more from trenton, new jersey. >> reporter: the cell phone video captures the panic and chaos. >> this is truly a tragedy for trenton. >> reporter: around 2:45 sunday morning police say at least two suspects begin shooting at each other. >> rescue north and south medic. >> reporter: the crowd of 1,000 is caught in the middle of their gun fight. at least 22 are injured,

here's a moment that took our breath away. security camera footage showing part of a ceiling crashing down at china. it happened inside the mountain tourist center. rescuers freed people trapped under the debris. at least nine people were hurt. at the white house, president trump back on the attack against robert mueller, amid a new headline involving a new associate. roger stone revealing he had contact with a russian national during the election who promised dirt on hillary clinton in exchange for $2 million. stone insisting the deal never went down, claiming it was an fbi setup. >> reporter: tonight, new revelations of yet another previously undisclosed meeting between a trump loyalist and a russia. abc news confirming a "the washington post" story that roger stone met with the russian in miami in may of 2016. the man who called himself henry

now believe was an fbi set up with donald trump. stone and caputo both alleging that it was an fbi trap. that greenburg reportedly worked as an informant. the latest interaction means at least 11 trump associates admitted to having contact with the russians during the campaign or presidential transition since the mueller investigation again. today the president tweeting witch hunt there was no russian collusion. >> this is a case where it's crying out for someone to investigate the investigators. people in a town in western massachusetts have solved what they thought was a crime. flags began disappearing from veterans' graves, it was reported to workers who would replace the flags but then find them gone again. the mystery was solved when someone saw a flag disappear. the culprit a woodchuck.
