pleasant. by 7:00, 57 at the coast and about 70 to 72 degrees. a great evening on tap. let's find out more about that commute. we have a new problem in the hayward area, southbound 880 south of state roud 92. we have a sedan, a pickup truck and motorcycle all involved. the two left lanes are involved. at least one of those vehicles did flip over. we possibly have injuries, too. i will follow up on that in just a few minutes. southbound 101 across the golden gate bridge, as usual, we' we'r light if you're commuting in. a series of suspicious fires broke out in santa rosa over the weekend. >> arson investigators are saying they are likely linked. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield live in santa rosa this morning. >> reporter: good morning, reggie.

they all happened saturday night, all close to fire station number 10. we're in southwest santa rosa. they say there could have been as many as 13 fires. they were all small grass fires. they all happened within two hours of each other. officials say this was obviously arson. >> suspicious activity, obviously, because of the number of sets in the short number of time in a very small proximity. >> no structures burned, no one was hurt. this all happend in grass along railroad tracks or hiking trails. no arrests have been made. officials do believe the person is using a butane lighter to start these and that the person is traveling on bicycle. fights say they know this community is especially anxious about fires after the october wildfires. they say they now activate help from other jurisdictions quicker than they did before the october

fires. so they are ready to respond. live in santa rosa, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> certainly not what santa rosa needs. amy, thank you. several firefighting agencies contained two grass fires. they pitched in to knock down the flames yesterday afternoon. the fires burned a total of 60 acres along highway 84. chp temporarily shut down several lanes in the pigeon pass area. if you're in the south bay and you see smoke, it's probably coming from joseph d. grant county park. cal fire is planning to do a controlled burn to clear hundreds of acres of brush in the park. fire officials say people in southern share and southern santa clara valley will likely see the smoke today and tomorrow. demonstrations in the bay area calling for a change to the trags's policy of separating

parents and their children who have entered the u.s. illegally. we're getting new footage inside a detention center. this comes as president trump heads to capitol hill to discuss proposals coming up for a vote this week. here is abc's ryan smith. >> reporter: in this morning's "gma first look," outrage of the trump administration's sear rhee tolerance party for undocumented immigrants and asylum seekers is growing. from new jersey where seven congressmen demanded entry into this detention center. protesters marching by the hundreds outside a facility near el paso. farther south in mcgowan, where more than 1,000 detainees, men, women and children are being held temporarily. and these images released by the homeland security, you can see the sprawling array offensed in cells and bare floors. >> i don't think this should be happening and something has to

be done. >> reporter: coming at 7:00 a.m., we'll have full live coverage and the latest response from the white house. with your gma first look, ryan smith, abc news, new york. 5:04 now. most people know about hospitals run by the veterans administration. fewer are aware of the agency running nursing homes. recently released documents show that nearly half of those nursing homes receive the lowest score possible in health quality. three of them are in the bay area, specifically san francisco, palo alto and menlo park. the stats were released after questions about the secrecy from the u.s.a. today. none of the three locations were available for comment this morning. thousands of bay area homes could be flooded by 2045 according to a new climate report. marin county would be the hardest hit spot in the state with nearly 4400 homes flooded. san mateo county is next on the list with 4100 homes.

more than 20,000 homes in california are at risk because of rising sea levels. nationwide, about 311,000 homes are at risk of getting swamped. the report was put together by the union of concerned scientists. retesting results of soil samples from the hunters point naval shipyard will be available next year at the earliest. it will cost $250 million. the u.s. navy will pay for the retesting. this after two whistleblowers after tetra tech admitted to faking samples and falsifying records. the department of public health will run the tests starting next week. london breed will be swarn in as san francisco's mayor next month. breed received the most first place votes in the ranked choice system in san francisco. former state senator mark renault had the number two votes. yesterday on abc 7 mornings,

good morning, stephanie. >> natasha and reggie, good morning. the number of children taken away from their parents after crossing into the united states illegally is now at about 2,000 children. despite criticism from lawmakers and heartbreaking images, the administration's zero-tolerance policy is still in place. this morning an all-out battle brewing over president trump's continual policy of separating children from their parents who illegally cross the border. lawmakers protesting with immigration advocates, even visiting a detention center outside new york city. >> we spoke to fathers whose children have been ripped from their arms, who have no idea when or if they'll see their children again. >> reporter: some lawmakers calling president trump's zero-tolerance policy inhumane and un-american. >> there's no policy justification for this. it's all political. >> reporter: today undocumented immigrants who cross the border illegally are being charged with a criminal offense instead of a

killing five people was involved in a smuggling operation. agents saw the vehicle traveling with two others about 25 miles from the mexico border. agents pulled two of them over. but the third vehicle led vehicles on a clays and went out of control at more than 100 miles per hour. it was pacted with 14 people. police arrested the driver who is a u.s. citizen. parents are creeped out and are warning other families about a man who likes to take photos of kids he doesn't know. >> the most recent incident happened this week into at the san mateo county fair. abc 7 news reporter matt keller live at san jose police headquarters this morning. >> reporter: good morning, san mateo police say they're still investigating this man who claims to be an amateur photographer, but says so far doesn't appear he's done anything illegal. >> we did look through the photos on his camera. he had deleted the ones he took of the reporting party's children, and there was no other

suspicious photographs on there. >> reporter: saturday nitrogen fer saw a stranger taking pictes of her 3-year-old son while he was getting his face painted at the san mateo county fair. she snapped two photos of him which we blurred because he has not been interested. she says he didn't appear to be an amateur photographer. >> he had a hand-held digital camera from like 2001 and he was keeping it hidden in his hand taking pictures. it wasn't like you could see the camera unless you were really looking at him. >> reporter: another mom who did not want to be identified said the same man took a picture of her 2-year-old son while she was shoping at a grocery store in burlingame last week. san francisco police are looking to spook with anyone who may have seen this man taking pictures. matt keller, abc news.

right now at least three people are dead after a 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit japan. i want to show you this new video from overnight. you can see the shaking. sadly one of the victims was a 9-year-old school girl. she died when a concrete wall at her school fell. two other deaths were men in their 80s. meanwhile hundreds of others were injured. this quake was centered in osaka in west attorney japan as commuters were heading to work. there are reports of several more deaths that need to be confirmed at this point. you can see tens of thousands of people are without power or water right now. in fact, the schools across the country as well closed for fear that more walls could come tumbling down. i'll be watching for updates throughout our newscast and i'll have an update when we get it. voter turnout from the june 5th primary is expected to exceed numbers in the last midterm primary. fire counties in california including napa and san mateo turned to mail-in ballots.
