tracking gusty breezes in fairfield. a broken deck of clouds this morning but they are lower to the ground so you may feel a little more claustrophobic when you go outside. you can't see the top of some of the buildings in san francisco, pier 15. breaking down next couple of hours 7:00, mid-50s. pretty much the same start temperature wise. you'll already know this by noon, warmer, inland at 80, warm around the bay, 57 at the coast. you'll still be 57 at the coast, 76 to 85. a little jump in temperatures, a little above average at 4:00. then we've got a pretty comfortable evening on the way. 71 around the bay, 77 inland but definitely chilly at the coast, 56. all right. let's see what alexis is watching for the commute. >> watching a busy bay bridge toll plaza unfortunately very early today. those metering lights on at 4:45 this morning. if you're typically a bay bridge commuter, you know it doesn't

hppen until 5:25 on average. we did talk to chp, they said they had to turn it on early due to roadwork on the bridge, westbound 880 before treasure island. we have two lanes down. that is scheduled to wrap any minute now until 5:00 a.m. looks like that is starting to improve. i'm sure those metering lights will stay on. you can see things backing up into the maze. i would plan on a little extra time if you're heading out the door or use mass transit. no issues with barrett this morning. next traffic coming up in about 10 minutes. >> thanks, alexis. this morning a growing zero tolerance for the zero tolerance policy that has now by some estimates 2,000 children separated from parents in border detention centers. >> we expect to see a demonstration in some of the outrage across the country. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield live outside the i.c.e. office. good morning, amy. >> good morning, natasha. there's a protest scheduled at

i.c.e. officers in san francisco today. meanwhile bay area religious leaders are speaking out against what is happening at the border. san jose's bishop has written a letter calling the policy that is separating children from their parents un-american, unchristian and inhumane. we asked him about his stance and also reached out to a local leader of the republican party about why he agrees with the trump administration. >> it's unfortunate but it's necessary. we have to stop the tide of people coming in illegally. if they know that's going to happen, less people will be coming. >> to use children as a pawn in economic and trade policies is immoral and unethical and defeats what we stand for as a country. >> the letter from the pitch is one of dozens sent by religious leaders and other activists in the last week calling on the trump administration to change the policy. the protest in front of i.c.e.

three people for you in custody. one of the suspects was shot. police say his injuries don't appear to be life threatening. still an ongoing investigation and abc news reporter matt keller will have a live update in the next half hour. we'll continue to track this closely. back to you. thank you. police made an arrest in two unprovoked attacks in san francisco. >> they recognized the suspect from a surveillance video. a warning here, this may be difficult to watch. 58-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault. police say he is the man in this video who repeatedly kicks a homeless man in the tenderloin neighborhood. he's accused of attacking a man riding a muni bus on 8th street near mission. both attacks happened last month. 5:04. happening today marine mammal center will respond to whale carcass. it watched up south of the beach today. researchers will develop a plan

to perform a necropsy and determine how the animal died. it's only the tenth blue whale carcass the center responded to in the 30-year history. a man died after he flipped in the bay near berkeley. it happened saturday night. he was a member of the dragon boat team based in the marina. abc 7 reporter lilian kim has more. >> members of the team are in disbelief that a man died at the marina they practice every day. he had been paddling alone in the outrigger canoe when something went wrong. a passerby spotted his body in the afternoon. >> i was in shock, maybe even numb. >> he always had a smile. whenever i saw him, he was walking down really casually. >> chong lived in walnut creek and worked as a chiropractor in the south bay. teammates say he was always willing to help if he could. >> some doctors were afraid of

liability. chris was so giving. there was no hesitation for him to help people out and work with us. >> it's unclear what may have happened out on the water. his vest was found inside the canoe. it was also windy that day with gusts up to 25 miles per hour. >> his skill level good enough, high enough it shouldn't have happened. >> the coroner has not yet determined a cause and manner of death. that process could take several weeks. in berkeley, lilian kim, abc 7 news. now a live desk update. >> from abc 7 mornings. another update from our live desk because after a threat of a new round of tariffs yesterday on chinese imports we're really starting to see those markets react. dow futures down this morning more than 300 points, about 1.5%. china has said that the u.s. tariffs are, quote, blackmail and they have retaliated. now it seems the u.s. could do it again. that's where we're at. in a statement overnight

president trump said the new tariffs will, quote, go into effect if china refuses to change its practices and also if it insists on going forward with the new tariffs that it has recently announced. so again this morning we see that escalation of the trade war between our two countries. we're going to check in on the dow when it opens a little bit later this morning. back to you guys. >> jessica, thank you. san francisco's pride parade is this weekend. >> san francisco lgtb center got the party started early with center of pride fundraiser. proceeds from last night's event go to expansion of outreach to homeless lgtb youth providing warm meals, job opportunities and internships. the excitement for pride could be felt throughout the building. >> if you ride b.a.r.t. or walk on the streets. you don't have to go to the parade. it's sort of an uptick in fabulousness in the entire city. >> i like that, uptick of fabulousness. find a list of pride events around the area this week at

due to roadwork on the bridge before treasure island two lanes closed up until about 5:00 this morning. it does look like lanes are back open but metering lights will stay on at this point. back-up is very early back into the maze today. if you want to take b.a.r.t. instead that is running on time with no issues. also heavy out of the central valley westbound 580 tracy to dublin one hour five minutes, reports of lumber blocking one lane before grant road. dublin to mission boulevard, 101 to cupertino looking good at 15 minutes. it's been weeks since president trump called war games in south korea provocative and inappropriate after a summit leader with kim jong-un. this morning pentagon announced a suspension of all planning for an august joint military exercise with south korea and several allies. military officials have said the exercises are crucial in order to blend different countries into a fighting force. the white house has indicated it wants regular readiness trapg and training exchanges to

all the riders to safety before rescue crews got there. yikes. the trial for the first of thousands against monsanto. it's weed killer causing cancer was filed. working as integrated pest manager for benicia school district. his attorney said a large part of his job was to spray roundup weed killer. >> after 2 1/2 years or so of spraying this stuff 30 times a year, sometimes 100 gallons a day, he was diagnosed, no surprise, with non-hodgkins lymphoma. >> cancer is a terrible disease but it's not caused by the use of roundup. johnson's attorney says while his client is terminally ill, he is expected to testify. wells fargo is reportedly moving 100 jobs out of san francisco. according to the business times, the company needs to have employees and treasury in closer

proximity to each other. 91 jobs relocated, 5 will be eliminated. the bank is moving 64 positions to el monte and los angeles county. the other 27 will be relocated to arizona, utah, minnesota, and north carolina. the jobs will be moved by september 28th. the man accused of throwing a homeless man's belongings into lake merritt pleaded not guilty to second degree robbery. hentry sintay accused of dismaching a cell phone from a man recording a conversation with him. before that he was doing this, throwing a homeless man into the water. he's out on bail and due in court in august. lawyers representing north bay will welcome a new name to the team, erin brockovich. >> national recognition after a movie made. her clients awarded $333 million

over a settlement over contaminated water in hinckley, california. there's a reception in santa rosa at 6:00. >> pg&e responded to cal fire report that blames the power company's equipment for causing 12 of the north bay wildfires writing, quote, the loss of life, homes and businesses in these extraordinary wildfires is simply heartbreaking and we remain focused on helping communities recover and build. we look forward to the opportunity to care any review the cal fire reports to understand the agency's perspectives. we continue to believe our overall programs met high standards. this next story pretty com telling, helping passengers whose flights are delayed or canceled at sfo. they will resell at oakland or san jose then will shuttle through. weather, construction, air traffic control restrictions can cause long delays at sfo. we know this. we've been there. providing another plane at another airport and getting you there for free may sound like

be good. if you fly into sfo in the summertime, you're always late unfortunately because of the cloud cover. must look into that a little deeper, see how it works out. i'm sure they have algorithms to tell hu it works. let's move on and use some of my algorithms to show you how hot it's going to be. east bay hills, looking at cloud deck trying to climb over 1900 feet there near grizzly peak. let's talk about what's going to happen today. sunshine and warmer temperatures this afternoon away from the coast. cool lows and clouds return. that's the key to the forecast moving forward. no matter how hot it's going to get during the day, at least we're going to be comfortable at night and we'll be able to sleep. extended warm to hot through the weekend. let's start it off with san francisco where you can see 50s and 60s in your 12-hour planner and pretty much 50s and sikds for your high from eagle side 59 to 67 in downtown. let's go to the east bayshore, start off 50s, 72 at 4:00.

in between hit the low- to mid-70s in most neighborhoods. 69 t 79 at fremont. the extreme there. peninsula 50s and jumping up into the 70s this afternoon, may get to 82 in redwood city. you're the exception, mid to up ever 70s and 50s in the coast. down in the south bay a little biller spread, 58 to 80 from 7:00 to 4:00 and 79 milpitas, los gatos, upper 80s. head to the north bay, can you see the spread is bigger, 53 to 83 with low- to mid-80s here even 87 in santa rosa, 91 in cloverdale. for inland neighborhoods 58 to 88. so the spread just keeps getting bigger with your highs upper 80s to mid-90s. we'll pull back a little bit toll and 90s return inland thursday. 80s around the bay friday and they stick around through at least sunday. here is alexis. >> good morning,t to the bay br. typically we are just starting to see those metering lights and

back-up form. however, metering lights at 4:45 today, due to some roadwork that went until 5:00 on the bay bridge. so all lanes are clear once you make it to the bridge but about a 15-minute delay on the approach into the maze. also briefly had to shut down the ramp from westbound 24 to northbound highway 13. an earlier rollover crash. that vehicle went in the ditch so chp had to shut down the ramp while they uprighted the vehicle. they just opened that, a little bit of a back on 24 starting to thin out. not thinning out here back-up to tracy, westbound 580 near flynn road, lumber blocking lane number three. that has us up to one hour and seven minutes tracy into dublin. severe storms in the midwest have turnedals fear the worst i to come after torrential rains caused a dam to fail. >> a flash flood emergency as

100 miles of the border. the only exception is if there's abuse or other danger to kids. a couple in silicon valley raised nearly $4 million on facebook to help reunite immigrant parents with kids. it will go directly to fund bonds to get parents out of detention. the original goal was $1500. that's the minimum bond amount for cases like this but it went viral and it's raised enough money to bail out more than 2500 paren parents. we have a link an more details on abc7news.com. that's amazing. a reward offered to catch an arsonist who set fires. the path of saturday night's arsonist you can sha rosace offering a reward up to $2500 for an arrest in this case. fire crews say all the fires set within two hours of oneso used a lighter and is likely getting

we just talked with lieutenant from union city police department and he says all three suspects involved in the officer-involved shooting are juveniles. he said six officers were involved in this shooting as well. multiple records were recovered from the scene. take a look at video from overnight and you can see just how intense the investigation was. a big response. police say the shooting between officers and those suspects happened at 11:35 last night after officers attempted to stop a car at e street and railroad avenue in union city. those suspects drove off a few blocks to railroad avenue and whipple road where all three of the suspects jupd out and ran into the neighborhood. s.w.a.t. teams were seen in the area along with other agencies like the police department. all three suspects captured and taken into custody. at least one of the suspects was shot. miss say his injuries do not appear to be life threatening. no officers were injured. we say there's no ongoing danger to the public. we did receive an alert from the union city police department saying their investigation is expected to take at least
