live where you live, this is abc 7 news. a gun battle in the east bay. bullets fly between six officers and a car filled with juveniles. right now, a big investigation is still underway. i'm jessica castro, and kristen sze is in later today. that investigation is still underway 12 hours after the initial shooting. it started at 11:30 last night in e street in union city. a small car chase and sus pentagons -- suspects ran into the neighborhood. matt keller has been at the scene all morning. what's happening now, matt? >> reporter:a,ood morninyen th

found three major crime scenes in union city. in is on railroad avenue. amazingly, no one was kileio co. the evidence is clear in union city. this was a shootout. >> just sounded like gunfire, and in our minds, like, 25 rounds or more. >> reporter: union city police say officers tried to pull over a vehicle with three juveniles inside it around 11:35 last night. that's when they exchanged gunfire. six officers fired weapons, and one suspect was hit. >> scary for everybody involved. we're fortunate that none of our officers were hurt or killed during this incident. >> reporter: one suspect drove the car a few blocks away to railroad avenue. there, we found a toyota camry with bullet holes in the windows and along the trunk.

a van with police lights had what appeared to be bullet holes in the windshield. all three suspects ran into the surrounding neighborhoods. near e street, another crime scene with several evidence markers, a police shield, and blood on the grass in the front yard of a home on 10th street. all three were caught. the injured suspect is in the hospital and expected to survive. >> extremely busy right now dealing with a number of crime scenes, processing them to make sure we collect all the relevant evidence. >> reporter: williams lives across the street where the shootout took place and is at a loss for words at the violence involving juveniles. >> i have -- i don't know what to say. just can't believe this is happening. you know, where the kids -- shootout? wow. it's beyond me. >> reporter: a lieutenant would not say ifar wer invold he shtiwe a anion cice ler toda.

the policy adding, quote, it should do so now. abc news, washington. happening today, a protest planned at i.c.e. headquarters in san francisco at 1:00 p.m. amid the ongoing detention center controversy. the area religious leaders are among those taking a stand against the policy. san jose's bishop is among those who sent a letter to the white house expressing opposition to the policy. he called it, quote, un-american, un-christian, and inhumane. an online fundraiser started by two of facebook's earliest employee raised more than $5 million to reunite undocumented immigrant parents separated from their kids. charlotte and dave started this fundraiser this weekend with a goal of $1500, the minimum cost of one bond for one parent, and so far, more than 122,000 people have donated. if you or someone you know

we're going to start out with dramatic video. check this out from rockford, illinois. a group of people pulled a man out of his car, rescuing him after raging waters trapped him in his car, and they got him out just in time as they started to climb off the back of the car, the front end of the vehicle sank into the water. the flooding in the midwest is blamed for one death and washed

out several roads. we have nothing here. we have a heat wave with triple digits on the way. a beautiful shot from the east bay hills camera. right here, a dam break, just north of that antenna tower there, all the clouds and cooler air rushed into the valleys there this morning. we had a rush through the san bernardino gap, covering sfo right now, so that's why we have delays. first inland warming trend today, briefly cooler tomorrow, and heat wave starts friday, saturday, and lesser extent sunday. there is a small craft advisory in the bay, and it's stubborn. winds pick up noon through 9:00. that helps thin the clouds a little bit and there's going to be more sun. in the south bay, 79, 83 in san jose, and 88 in gilroy. santa cruz, 74 and da ty.

most of us in the low to mid-70s on the peninsula. clouds sticking at the coast, upper 50s to near 60. mid-60s downtown, south san francisco, and the game is breezy at 59 for th dropping down to 57 degrees. dress accordingly. in the south bay, low to mid-80s, 90s in late sunshine pushes the rest of us into the low to mid-70s. east bay valleys will be in the 86 degree range in concord to 9 92 in brentwood. san jose, looks gorgeous there. 12-hour planner, you can see there's a range from 57 at the coast, 76 in the bay, 84 inland at 4:00, and we'll get comfortable at 70 at 8:00 and 50s at midnight. clouds come back as well as low to upper 50s.
