four engine companies and two battalions fought the flames. if you're just waking up, let's get the update on wegder and traffic. we start with meteorologist mike nicco. >> let's take a look at what's going on. there's the exploratorium camera at 4:15. check tout cloud deck. there's definitely some holes. that will allow for the sunshine to begin the warming trend. temperatures just a little cooler this morning because of the lack of clouds. temperatures in the low to upper 50s. as we get towards noon, 50s at the coast, low to mid 70s around the rest of the neighborhood. a comfortable evening, upper 60s to mid 70s. here is sue again. >> we want to take you to the bay bridge toll plaza. what i want you to focus on, not so much the traffic here because it's pretty light. take a look at the breezes that are out there. those flags blowing and we do have a high wind advisory for the bay bridge. grab on a little extra tighter this morning if you're headed

out there. we have road work. typical slowing coming out of the central valley. we had road work there that's been picked up. now still out there northbound 880, the washington off-ramp remains closed as do several lanes of traffic. >> now to the crisis at the border. president trump is doubling down on his hard line rhetoric. >> this morning the question remains what has happened to the children already taken from their parents. abc's stephanie ramos joins us with more details. >> after weeks of debate, the president signed that executive order he says will keep immigrant families together. he en sifts he will still be, quote, tough on immigration. with a quick signature, president trump did what he said he could not do.

>> we're signing an executive order, keeping families together. >> reporter: this comes 75 days after more than 2,000 children have been separated from their parents. overnight trump defending his dix to suspend the policy during a campaign rally in minnesota, but also said when it comes to undocumented immigrants. >> we're sending them the hell back. >> some trump supporters agree with the president's separation policy. >> did those images of children bother you? >> no. we're paying $700 per day per child. if a person goes to prison or jail, they're separated from their children. >> reporter: for immigrant families going forward, zero tolerance remains in place.

now kids will likely go to dod or i.c.e. facilities with their parents. the order does not over vied the federal court settlement known as the plor ris agreement that says migrant children cannot be jailed for more than 20 days. the president is expected to instruct the department to not follow the law while the white house challenges it in court in order to keep families together while the parent is in custody. health and human services say they are, quote, awaiting further guidance on how to implement the executive order. the families that had been separated, the 2,300 kids will not be immediately reunited. live from washington, stephanie ramos, abc 7 news. the facebook campaign to help reunite undocumented immigrant parents separated from their children has now raised almost $16 million. three of facebook's earlier employees started that company on sunday.

killer case is reviving the attempt to find a suspect nicknamed the doodle renchts. cnn evident mates it may have killed as many as 14 men from 1974 to 1975. police officer planned to release a sketch of what he might look like now. if he's still alive, the suspect would be in his early 60s. sky 7 flew over the refinery at point richmond. chevonne says there was a, quote, upset at a processing unit. that resulted in flaring that lasted for about two hours. no shelter in place was issued. but a level one alert was issued which chevron says is standard. a 6-week-old puppy stolen out of a san jose warehouse is back with its owner this

pounds. >> reporter: down the way, a small group of black bears. their fur may be brown, but they are black bears. staying with four-legged animals, a couple that are have shy. >> we have two north american gray wolf. >> reporter: the zoo hopes the wolves will breed next spring. they're slowly coming back. >> the prey is still here, they're following the deer, rabbits, other species coming in. >> reporter: every animal on the california was either chased out by development or faced extinction. these huge california condors are an example. >> they're so big, they're like a mammal. they are a bird but they share a lot with apex mammals, mountain lions, wolves, bears. it's pretty cool. >> this group of mountain lions were found young and sickly.
