can find ways to help. a small group in san matteo called i want my mommy raised money and clothing for immigrant family and children stuck in detention camps. they started to collect supplies a few days a ago and the response from the community is overwhelming. a group of 12 volunteers will leave tomorrow to accompany the congresswoman jackie spear to the area. >> in our small way, we are feeling that at least something is happening. >> even though president trump signed an order to keep families together. it's not clear how the administration plans to reunite those who have already been separated. this is a nonprofit that provides legal services for immigrants and we spoke to them via skype from texas. >> a person lost in the desert needs water. a person in a famine needs food and a person who is detention needs a lawyer. >> these families need bond money to get them out of the

detention centers. they are getting most of their donations from the bay area through the wilner family fundraising page that raised more than $17 million. more than 450,000 people have already donated. another group called families, belong together, is organizing rallies throughout the country on june 30th. >> no one knows where they are going, no one knows why they are 2,000 miles away from their parents and how and when and why they will be returned. >> you want answers. >> i think we all want answers, this is children we are talking about. >> and there will be several rallies on that day throughout the bay area, here in san francisco, it's starting at delores park and ends at civic center plaza. thank you, now, abc 7 cheryl jennings will travel with this

including the huge blaze in santa rosa that destroyed nearly 5,000 homes. laura is live from one of the neighborhoods, with reaction from fire victims. >> reporter: well, hi, dan, i'm standing on a play structure, this is one of the only things left standing. as the tubs fired roared through the neighborhood last october, pg&e has not been officiallyi implicated in the fire, but they are waiting to see if the day will come. mike williams is a contractor helping to rebuild homes in coffee park. including his own. one among thousands who lost everything in the raging tubs fire last october. cal fire have yet to find pg&e responsible for this fire, victims are watching closely the company's decision, to set aside billions of dollars to pay for expected losses in other places. like from the sulfer fire in clear lake. >> it's encouraging for the

people who were affected by the fires, but if you are in an area where the fire is the most devastating and they still have not made a decision, it makes you wonder which way they are going to go. >> williams also wonders even if pg&e is found responsible for the tubs fire, will any of the money trickle down to the fire victims thenlzs. >> it seems that it is starting to turn in the direction of the people that were affected. but the question you really want to ask is, who is really affected? it was the city? it was the people? it was everything. >> so, we had 20 minutes to get out. >> jennifer and her family lost their home in coffee park and she too are uncertain if homeowners will see any money from pg&e, but she is relieved that the utility is preparing to pay up in some areas. >> if there's proof, fact and proof that they didn't, as in the other instances do what they were supposed to do, then absolutely they need to take responsibility for it and make

and be fiscally responsible. >> abc 7 news. all right, let's turn our attention to fire. fire danger will be high this weekend as the weather is hotter. abc 7 news weather spencer christian has more on that. it will be quite hot in the next couple of days. right now, we are looking at mild to warmer conditions. sunny skies across the region. let's skip ahead to the heat. we have a red flag warning in affect, it will be in affect all of saturday in to sunday evening for lake county and solano county, and it will be very hot. we also have a fire weather watch in affect from the 11:00 saturday morning to 8:00 sunday evening for the north bay hills and mountains and the east bay hill hads and mountains. same conditions, low humidity and intense heat and strong gusty winds so fires can spread rapidly under those conditions and heat -- heat advisory for all of the bay area. and air quality is declining

tomorrow, it will be a spare the air day, with a poorest air quality likely in the inland east bay and the santa clara valley. i have a look at the complete forecast in a few minutes. >> all right, spencer, thank you. happening now, questions over possible radioactive dirt in the east bay. officials are getting ready to hold a public forum. they want to know if contamin e contaminated dirt from the naval shipyard was dumped in a landfill in bay point. we are live in bay point with the details. eric? >> reporter: and the meeting is going to start in about 20 minutes and it's in a room right behind us and yeah, the problem here is that nobody knows for sure if there's radioactive material in the landfill. that's why, tonight, they are likely going to be many more questions than answers. there's not of much separating ralph's home from the landfill. >> that's the fence, the dump is on the otherer side here. >> reporter: that's probably a

half mile's distance over the hill had. he has heard talk that there may be radioactive dirt in there. >> am i concerned about the dump, definitely, you know, especially when you don't know what's go engine there. >> reporter: county officials say that soil contaminated with low levels of radioactive radium may have been buried here from the clean up of the old hunters point naval shipyard from san francisco, problem is, they don't know for sure. >> if it's there, it was not supposed to have gone to that landfill. it's a domestic garbage landf l landfill. >> reporter: the navy has been paying for clean up of contamination, but one of the contractors has been accused of falsifying data on how radioactive the soil is. we contacted a spokesman today in a written statement, he said, tetratec was not responsible for transport or disposal of material to offsite landfills and all shipments were tested

for radioactivity at hunters point and trucks must pass through another portal monitor run and controlled by the landfill to make sure had that no radioactive material is being deposited at the landfill, and they have said, no one will be satisfied until the independent testing is done. >> we want to know what risk factors may exist and assure our citizens that they are safe. >> reporter: they were not sure how many people would show up for the forum. we have seen a lot of traffic back and forth for this hall way, and those supposed to be here, the u.s. navy, the state health department, even some of the local water agencies for those folks who may be worried about things getting in to the water supply. the good news there is that everything is covered up. so, even if there's contaminated material in the landfill, it would be buried under other material and not free to blow around in the air. live in bay point. eric thomas.

in santa clara, a new survey shows that most residents support the current curfew at levi stadium but a good majority would be open to changes. abc 7 news reporter is live in city hall with what is happening now. chris? >> ama, we got our hands on the full report that city council is going over the results right now, inside council chambers and no surprise, two of the biggest issues are noise and traffic. being stuck in traffic near levi stadium is never fun. >> we were next to the door of the stadium.

sometimes they act like thursday night concerts and stuff like that could be an issue for us. >> those concerns are part of the reason why the santa clara city council decided to talk about issues related to the stadium, right now, they are meeting to review the results. the surveys are saying they are dissatisfied with the traffic and parking and disrupt i have behavior following stadium events and the majority of residents support the current curfew of 10:00 p.m. week nights and are open to changes. that is good news for the 49ers who manage the stadium. in a statement to abc 7 news. the 49ers said, we share the resident's concerns about our city and we will continue to partner with our neighbors to bring world class events to santa clara whileing the stadiue for all. residents say they understand revenue from stadium events can help the city in the long run, but they want to avoid cases like cold play who played

gilroy. this is our camera view looking at a sunny western sky. more temperature readings, mid to upper 70s and 88 at fairfield and 90 at concord and 87 at livermore, this is the view at the golden gate bridge. these are the forecast features. two day heat spike begins tomorrow, we will have triple digit temperatures inland had in the hottest areas over the two-day period and of course, high fire danger and poorer air quality will come along with the increase in temperatures. right now, surface wind is rather strong as well, gusts up to 16 miles per hour had in novato and 26 here in san francisco, and all around the bay, as you can see, winds speeds range from about 10-16 miles per hour. breezy conditions, hot conditions developing. dry vegetation and all that adds up to high fire danger. overnight, look for mainly clear skies with a bit of patchy fog and a bit of that will push out over the bay. overnight lows will be in the

mid to upper 50s and tomorrow, prepare for the heat, especially inland, we will see many locations inland with high temperatures at or above 100 degrees, especially up north and in the inland east bay, 100 degrees likely at concord and liver more, and right around the bayshore line, we will see mid to upper 80s and in the coast, upper squs. good beach going weather. i guess. and saturday, it gets hotter. especially in the inland areas, where there's numerous locations. where temperatures are up to 105, right around the bay, we will see upper 80s and near the coast, it will be warmer then, i think, than the computer model indicates. i would say 80 here in san francisco, as opposed to just 75. but it starts to cool down a bit on sunday. they will be further cooling on on monday, temperatures will settle back in to a more seasonal and comfortable range. also, this is pride weekend in san francisco, we will have sunny skies, friday, saturday and sunday with a high temperature in the upper 70s to about 80 on saturday, so, a very nice mild to warm day here in the city.
