it is saturday, june 23. good morning and thanks so much for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. let's start with a look at the forecast. lisa argen is tracking the conditions where you live. >> good morning. this first full weekend of summer, it will be a toasty one as temperatures soar. here is live doppler 7 where there is no fog to speak of, a little bit around monterey. high pressure building into the region and that will be the source of our warming. already around 3 to 18 degrees warmer except at the coast, minus 4 this morning. translates to 46 degrees half moon bay. so chilly there. upper 60s in clover dale, 64 in

danville. and we do have a heat advisory for all the highlighted cities around for san francisco and oakland, meaning the heat illnesses are possible with very warm to hot temperatures. red flag warning in effect as well from 11:00 today through 8:00 tomorrow night. the north bay and east bay mountains will see gusty winds 15 to 30 miles an hour with gusts up to 40 and relative humidity anywhere from 10 to 20%. so it will be a warm one today with temperatures by 9:00 reaching 80 degrees inland. by the afternoon, you can see triple digit heat. we'll talk about details and a cooler sunday coming up. breaking news out of contra costa county being firefighters are investigating the cause of two fires along highway 4. they received a call at 1:40 about a grass fire. crews found at least two fires burning. one was on the eastbound side and the other on the westbound side. no injuries have been reported.

it is you been clear whunclear fires, but officials say the dry hot weather could have been a factor. several wildfires broke out during warm weather across the bay area yesterday. sky 7 flew over this five acre fire in brisbane. cal fire is at peak staffing due to increased fire danger. one of the best ways to keep track of the heat where you live is with the abc 7 news app. get updates and monitor the forecast on the go. now to the crisis at the border. a u.s. district court judge could rule as early as next week on reuniting immigrant families. yesterday the aclu filed a lawsuit challenging the trump administration's current policy and requested a quick decision from the judge. that policy has sparked internal conflicts in the west wing on how to carry out mr. trump's executive order. a group of women from the bay area came together in less than a week to collect toys and clothes for imgrant children.

it would be at the former concord naval weapons station. cornell barnard has more. >> no local official including the sheriff had been informed about this. >> reporter: the supervisor says he was blindsided by news the u.s. navy is considering the former concord naval weapons station property as a possible detention center site to house up to 47,000 migrants. >> this is a crazy proposal. we're going to fight it. we won't let it happen. >> reporter: other abandoned military sites nationwide are also being looked at. abc news confirmed that an internal navy document mentions $233 million to construct temporary tent cities. >> this is not a solution, this is really evil policy. >> reporter: this congressman says that he will fight the trump administration. >> it reminds me of japanese internments. >> reporter: the city of concord has been in negotiations with the navy for years to acquire the weapons station property.

so far no deal. >> they don't know how many nuclear waste is on that site. there is a lot of stuff there that could happen, all of a sudden you put migrant workers there sf. >> reporter: the navy says that would it be inappropriate to discuss internal deliberative planning documents. president trump again calling on congress for immigration reform. >> the immigration system has been a really bad, bad system. probably the worst anywhere in the world. we'll try to see if we can fix it. >> reporter: concord says that it is committed to being a welcoming inclusive city, but a detention facility does not match those values. in concord, cornell barnard, abc 7 news. people ran for safety after someone fired a gun during a chaotic party at marina park. police tell us no one was hurt. it happened around 5:30 last night, but take a look at the chaos. at least 600 people packed a picnic area after hearing about the party on social media.

nobody has been arrested. the civic center b.a.r.t. station in san francisco is back open following a fire last night. a viewer took these photos showing the smoke rising. we're told the fire was started by a discarded cigarette inside a fan room. no injuries to report, but it did cause a bit of an inconvenience for those heading to pride festivities. today volunteers will install the annual pink try iane that symbolizes the badges nazis forced people to wear during the holocaust. the event includes a came millennial race ceremony with elected officials and a san francisco lesbian gay freedom ban. the installation starts at 7:00 this morning. thousands of people have descended upon san francisco for pride weekend. festivities got started with the trans march yesterday. melanie wood row has the details

these photos from a recent raid where you can see the dirty side of the weed industry. investigators found trash, hazardous waste and raw sewage. >> there is a long history of illegal cultivation in the north coast. >> reporter: chief david bess -- >> we have seen many of the folks who want to comply getting on board with the legal framework and going through the proper licensing. there is a whole bunch of folks who are not. >> reporter: that is where the foe dcus has shifted. fish and wildlife is going after those not following the rules. last month they arrested three at four illegal sites and discovered $3 million in hidden cash. they have been released pending charnl charges. and the u.s. attorney scott showed what was left behind on land. >> it makes me angry because this is a national asset, a

a heat advisory and red flag warning. a warm day is on the way. a dig dome of nudging into the eastern pacific and that is allowing for temperatures to soar today. a live look outside from our east bay hills camera and the camera was shaking just a bit. winds are already up to 24 miles an hour in the higher elevations. 55 san francisco, good morning in oakland, 57. it is 60 in mountain view, 63 in san jose. a cool 48 half moon bay. so of course it is pride weekend, you can see the pink behind me. and it will be a beautiful weekend, a bit on the warm side today. but in the city, pretty comfortable. 57 in santa rosa as well as n a napa. 5 in novato, 64 by the delta. calm winds at the surface allowing for the temperatures to be in the mid-60s concord and livermore. and those are early morning warm to mild temperatures already. so the winds above 1,000 feet in the north bay, straight out of

the north. that is the offshore direction. looking at 20 miles per hour. even gustier in the inland valleys. here is the fog down around santa cruz. central coast looking at low clouds and fog, hotter inland today and warmer at the coast. high fire danger, reduced air quality and looking for a cooling trend beginning as soon as tomorrow. so spare the air alert today for the poor air quality in the inland east bay, also in the santa clara valley where those two locations certainly could reach over 100 degrees. in fact yesterday at the concord airport, it was 102 degrees. so today if you want to help to the coast, it will be quite nice, 74 degrees. 70 half moon bay with the afternoon sea breeze. 80s in santa cruz. so your forecast today, for san francisco, looking at the upper 70s, so sunny and warm. cooling beginshough with a significant sea breeze tomorrow. so we all can get through tomorrow. we'll be in good shape. but heading up to the north, boy, it will be toasty. it was near 100 degrees

we'll start with quick look at the weather. lisa argen is tracking the conditions. and we're expecting heat. >> that's right. good morning. it the first weekend of summer and temperatures will continue to go upward today. yesterday was hot, 100 degrees at the livermore airport. and today we're starting out at 46 half moon bay, 65 in concord, 64 in livermore. yes, it's 00. and temperatures are already warm. so anywhere from about a degree to 18 degrees warmer by the delta, that is due to the lack of wind. but the cooler air translating into a cooler coast this morning. red flag warning in effect from 11:00 today to 8:00 tomorrow night. for the north and east bay mountains, where the winds will be up to 30 miles per hour urk gu gusting to 40. and so the atmosphere could be wipe for wildfires. so be vigilant. a heat advisory is on for today.

>> reporter: taking a dip in the ocean is a great way to escape the heat. >> enjoying a nice beautiful day at the beach. >> reporter: you are advised to enter at your own risk after multiple confirmed shark sightings. park rangers posted these warning signs. >> i've got grandkids out in the water right now, so you can't help but be concerned. >> reporter: sheriff posted their own sharp warning. this is not far from where a dead 9-foot great white washed up sunday morning. fish and wildlife has launched a criminal investigation into the shark's death. >> you can't fish for them, therefore you can't kill them. >> reporter: shark sightings are common in monterey bay especially in the past few years. they come into the warmest shallowest waters in the afternoon basically just to warm up. there was another sighting this marine biologist was out above the shallow waters with friends coming close to a 10-foot great white. >> pretty amazing humbly experience just to be out there

11,000 californians took advantage of saturday hours. beginning next month the offices will be open the first and third saturdays of the month. keep in mind driving tests are not offered during the special hours. new details about city college of san francisco. the community college is reportedly millions of dollars in debt for its program that provides free tuition to all city residents. according to the examiner, the college is asking the city to cover a $4.77 million debt ccsf started providing free tuition to residents last fall. the board of supervisors budget committee is expected to vote next week on how to reallocate funding for the college. starting monday, muni metro passengers living in the southwestern part of san francisco may have to change up their commute. the twin peaks tunnel will be closed for repairs for the next two months. lyanne melendez has tips on how to navigate through the city.

>> reporter: the muni metro k, l and m lines serve 80,000 customers every day. some of those passengers will now have to take a shuttle bus to other stations. that is because the west portal and forest hills stations will be closed while the twin peaks tunnel is repair the. the tunnel in use since february 1918 needs a lot of work. so that includes track work, it includes work to the walls and it also includes work to the gra grainage systems. >> reporter: the rails are so old, they have to slow down once they enter the tunnel. the trpgts agenansportation age placed notices at several stations to make sure everyone understands the changes. >> i've gotten a sheet and i'll look at the sheet when i have to figure out what to do. >> reporter: he was in luck. the sfmta representative took time to explain what he needed to do. those who are used to coming to the west portal station will now
