waerm warmer inland, and we have high fire danger with a red flag warning in effect from 11:00 through 8:00 tomorrow night. those winds will gust up to 40 miles per hour. the relative humidity decreases, dries out the air and we warm up very quickly today for a heat advisory. heat illnesses are possible. try to stay hydrated. tahoe, highs will be in the 80s. 90s by noontime inland, 60s by the coast. and by the afternoon one of the hottest days we've seen all year long. well over 100 degrees. but comfortable at the shoreline. we'll talk details in a few minutes. breaking news out of contra costa county where firefighters are investigating the cause of two fires along highway 4. they received a call at 1:40 about a grass fire. crews found at least two fires burning. one was on the eastbound side and the other on the westbound side. no injuries have been reported. it is unclear what started the fires, but officials say the dry hot weather could have been a factor.

several wildfires broke out during warm weather across the bay area yesterday. sky 7 flew over this five acre fire in brisbane. cal fire is at peak staffing due to increased fire danger. one of the best ways to keep track of the heat where you live is with the abc 7 news app. get updates and monitor the forecast on the go. now to the crisis at the border. a u.s. district court judge could rule as early as next week on reuniting immigrant families. yesterday the aclu filed a lawsuit challenging the trump administration's current policy and requested a quick decision from the judge. that policy has sparked internal conflicts in the west wing on how to carry out mr. trump's executive order. a group of women from the bay area came together in less than a week to collect toys and clothes for immigrant children. those children are being held at a processing facility in mcallen, texas. cheryl jennings traveled with the group.

>> reporter: this is the mcallen 12, they call themselves that because they banded together to do what they can to help undocumented children. the women were moved by the stories they saw. they had special t-shirts created with the statement i want my mommy. as a tribute to young children who have been separated from families arrested and accused of entering the country illegally. >> what we'd like do is be a presence with our t-shirts and after we have perhaps made our protest said what we need to say, we offer services to catholic charities or whoever else would like it. >> reporter: they lifted 70 pound bags and loaded up the u-haul in the evening hoping those items will be accepted on behalf of the children. they are inspired by jackie speier who has been quite vocal about the separation of children and families in mcallen.

about this. >> reporter: the supervisor says he was blindsided by news the u.s. navy is considering the former concord naval weapons station property as a possible detention center site to house up to 47,000 migrants. >> this is a crazy proposal. we're going to fight it. we won't let it happen. >> reporter: other abandoned military sites nationwide are also being looked at. abc news confirmed that an internal navy document mentions $233 million to construct temporary tent cities. >> this is not a solution, this is really evil policy. >> reporter: this congressman says that he will fight the trump administration. >> it reminds me of japanese internments. >> reporter: the city of concord has been in negotiations with the navy for years to acquire the weapons station property. so far no deal. >> they don't know how many nuclear waste is on that site. there is a lot of stuff there that could happen, all of a sudden you put migrant workers there.

>> reporter: the navy says that it would be inappropriate to discuss internal deliberative planning documents. president trump again calling on congress for immigration reform. >> the immigration system has been a really bad, bad system. probably the worst anywhere in the world. we'll try to see if we can fix it. >> reporter: concord says that it is committed to being a welcoming inclusive city, but a detention facility does not match those values. in concord, cornell barnard, abc 7 news. people ran for safety after someone fired a gun during a chaotic party at marina park. police tell us no one was hurt. it happened around 5:30 last night, but take a look at the chaos. at least 600 people packed a picnic area after hearing about the party on social media. nobody has been arrested. the civic center b.a.r.t. station in san francisco is back open following a fire last night. a viewer took these photos

showing the smoke rising. we're told the fire was started by a discarded cigarette inside a fan room. no injuries to report, but it did cause a bit of an inconvenience for those heading to pride festivities. today volunteers will install the annual pink triangle that symbolizes the badges nazis forced people to wear during the holocaust. the event includes a came millennial race ceremony with elected officials and a san francisco lesbian gay freedom ban. the installation starts at 7:00 this morning. thousands of people have descended upon san francisco for pride weekend. festivities got started with the trans march yesterday. melanie woodrow has the details of the celebrations. >> reporter: there was plenty of fanfare.

welcome back. alarming new pictures showing the lava threat not letting up in hawaii. this video was released yesterday by the usgs. some of the lava now flowing at 15 miles per hour. doesn't sound fast, but look at it. authorities now advising residents and tourists to stay away. tourists could be fined or arrested if caught taking

pictures. so far more than 600 homes have been destroyed. this is droneview 7 showing you the eel river. what you can't see is illegal pot farms. law enforcement is cracking down on the unlawful farms. dan noyes has more on the latest raids. >> reporter: there is a range of farmers in the three counties that is ground zero for decades. those who follow the rules and the illegal grows sometimes hidden on federal land. now the state is cracking down warning farmers to clean untheir act or shut down. humboldt county is home to red wood forests, creeks and streams and pot. the county sheriff showed us these photos from a recent raid where you can see the dirty side of the weed industry. investigators found trash, hazardous waste and raw sewage. >> there is a long history of illegal cultivation in the north coast.

>> reporter: chief david bess -- >> we have seen many of the folks who want to comply getting on board with the legal framework and going through the proper licensing. there is a whole bunch of folks who are not. >> reporter: that is where the focus has shifted. fish and wildlife is going after those not following the rules. last month they arrested three at four illegal sites and discovered $3 million in hidden cash. they have been released pending charges. and the u.s. attorney scott showed what was left behind on land. >> it makes me angry because this is a national asset, a national treasure and it is being spoiled by criminals. >> reporter: this grow has 4,000 plants before it was eradicated in 2017, but a year later there are still mouds of garbage,

hoses and toxic pesticides, including traces of carbofuran used to kill insects. >> a quarter of a teaspoon can kill a male african lion. >> reporter: many of the illegal grows are run by mexican drug cartels that often tap into nearby streams and creeks to water the plants. >> and there already is not enough water to go around. and massive amounts of it are being now you diverted to this illegal criminal enterprise to grow marijuana. >> reporter: the people doing the illegal farming usually have little regard for the enironment which means hazardous waste can trickle into the streams and creeks. the toxins and sediment that end up in the water can kill native animals and endanger salmon. >> and it takes a long time to flush out once there, so it is a chronic problem like cancer and much harder to fix. >> reporter: last month $2.5 million in federal funding was earmarked to target illegal cannabis growing operations in northern california. >> we'll focus on the ones

here, 56 in san francisco. looking at 62 in san jose. 48 half moon bay. from pier 39, nobody there. the sea lions perhaps waiting until the sun warms them up. 54 novato, 65 in concord. so this morning we are warmer pretty much everywhere except right at the coast. 8 degrees warmer in livermore. no wind at the surface. that is why we have high fire danger, offshore flow for the north bay mountains. more likely above 1,000 feet where you will see the wind gusts up to 40 miles an hour. and the humidity anywhere from 10 force 10% to 20%. you need to stay hydrated. by 9:00, we'll be well into the 80s. by 2:00, over 100 degrees in antioch, 80 in oakland. and then by about 6:00 tonight, we'll be looking at temperatures in the 60s at the coast. the fog returns tomorrow.

to your daily driver? >> you don't. >> reporter: wayne freedman, abc 7 news. happening today in oakland, a celebrity softball game featuring some world champions. it is the fourth annual jug life foundation charity softball game. several warriors are expected to play including steph curry, kevin durant and andre iguodala. marshawn lynch, e 40 and other local celebrities are also expected to attend. with the hot weather, you can expect a lot of people to head out to the beach. in santa cruz county, officials are warning of a higher number of great white shark sightings. >> reporter: taking a dip in the ocean is a great way to escape the heat. >> enjoying a nice beautiful day at the beach. >> reporter: you are advised to enter at your own risk after multiple confirmed shark sightings. park rangers posted these warning signs.

>> i've got grandkids out in the water right now, so you can't help but be concerned. >> reporter: sheriff posted their own sharp warning. this is not far from where a dead 9-foot great white washed up sunday morning. fish and wildlife has launched a criminal investigation into the shark's death. >> you can't fish for them, therefore you can't kill them. >> reporter: shark sightings are common in monterey bay especially in the past few years. they come into the warmest shallowest waters in the afternoon basically just to warm up. there was another sighting this marine biologist was out above the shallow waters with friends coming close to a 10-foot great white. >> pretty amazing humbly experience just to be out there and relaxing next to these really great and misunderstood animals. >> reporter: the sharks he says are peaceful as long as they are left alone. parents with kids not too concerned. >> we're not too worried about it.

they will just get their toes wet in the water, so they will be fine. >> reporter: and despite the warning signs, many people are expected to hit the beaches this weekend. so humans and sharks will have to co exist. carlos saucedo, abc 7. starting tonight ebt cardholders can't use their cards for 24 hours because of a change of vendors that allows people to transfer their public assistance benefits to make purchases and get cash. the outage is scheduled to start at 11:00 p.m. tonight and end at 11:00 p.m. tomorrow. the department of social services says withdraw cash and buy any food they might need before tonight. some bay area field offices will be open today for the second saturday in a row. the dmv says last weekend 11,000 californians took advantage of saturday hours. beginning next month the offices will be open the first and third

saturdays of the month. keep in mind driving tests are not offered during the special hours. new details about city college of san francisco. the community college is reportedly millions of dollars in debt for its program that provides free tuition to all city residents. according to the examiner, the college is asking the city to cover a $4.77 million debt ccsf started providing free tuition to residents last fall. the board of supervisors budget committee is expected to vote next week on how to reallocate funding for the college. starting monday, muni metro passengers living in the southwestern part of san francisco may have to change up their commute. the twin peaks tunnel will be closed for repairs for the next two months. lyanne melendez has tips on how to navigate through the city. >> reporter: the muni metro k, l and m lines serve 80,000 customers every day. some of those passengers will now have to take a shuttle bus to other stations. that is because the west portal and forest hills stations will be closed while the twin peaks tunnel is repaired. the tunnel in use since february
