live where you live, this is "abc7 news." >> heartbreak for people living in lake county as they learn their homes have been consumed by fire. good evening. >> that fire is continuing to grow. cal fire says it's 10,500 acres. >> it is 5% contained, so there's a very long way to go here. governor brown declared a state of emergency for that area. 1500 firefighters are battling the flames on the ground. >> take a look. this map shows the burn area. it's north of highway 20 in clearlake oaks. >> katie utehs is in lower lake tonight live. katie? >> reporter: dan, of the 1500 people forced to evacuate, only

a small amount are staying here at the red cross disaster relief shelter. that's because some are staying with family. many are camping. they simply know the drill because they've been here too many times. >> it's sort of almost like i felt it coming. >> reporter: a dark cloud near highway 20. an all too familiar sight. >> since 2012, we've been evacuated six times. and now we're done. >> the main fire growth of this is pushing east and northeast. >> reporter: cal fire and the lake county sheriff updated residents at the moose lodge. but katie brogan knew her house one one of ten lost. >> he left his insulin pen in the refrigerator. and he went back to get it and there was no home. >> reporter: yet for many, the sheriff delivered good news.

girls are staying here who were separated from their parents at the border within the last 24 days and southwest key is working to reunify the girls with their parents. southwest key says there were 25 minors at the facility, aged 12 to 17. the average length of stay is 47 days. southwest key also says they have temporarily suspended recreational off site activities because of safety and security concerns. congressman john garamendi wants to know if -- >> we've asked the office of refugee many times and have not been abl answer. >> reporter: he just returned from touring detention facilities in texas. >> we came away with a very deep concern that the border patrol, together with the i.c.e. contingents, had not carefully

hayes. the new charges comedies after tichelmann did a tell-all tv interview about hayes' death. >> i didn't know he was in immediate distress. it looked to me like he was still breathing. it just looked like he had passed out. >> the district attorney in georgia has called for the extradition of tichelmann to face the new charges. a southern california family set to move to the bay area this month is grieving after the father was shot and killed in his tent on a camping trip with his children. it happened last friday morning at malibu creek state park. investigators confirmed he was shot in his tent while his 2 and 4-year-old daughters were inside. >> there's nothing you can describe losing a family member like this, particularly like this family man like this with two small children. >> a go fund me page is set up to support wife erica and has surpassed $100,000.

a woman in san francisco is taking a financial hit after a video went viral showing her appearing to call police on a child selling water. >> illegally selling water without a permit. >> 8-year-old jordan rogers' mother says her daughter was just trying to raise money for a trip to disney land. alison etle is the woman on the phone and says she pretended to call police because of the noise. she says she's being accused of racism. her company sells cannabis products and some dispensaries are pulling products. >> we felt it was the right thing to do. >> she declined to speak with us. this is a story that really stays with you. today marked this decades in the making.
