breaking news. a series of serious crashes involving seven vehicles in the south bay. >> matt keller live with how this happened and the cleanup under way right now. good morning. it is 5:00 a.m. >> you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. good morning. let's look at the winds along with the clouds. the cloud deck not as prevalent as yesterday but the winds are still around. temperatures are going to be tempered by that breeze off the 50-degree water. full moon outside for another couple hours. so get out there and take a look at it while you can. the rest of the day into the evening hours, we're near 70.

66 to 69 at 7:00. the last comfy day because 90s and 100s in my forecast. good morning, mike. we're off to a calm start here. we are starting off with what is not very calm. in san jose a car the tracks. good news for commuters, crews cleared it. service will run as normal today. the driver did not appear to be seriously hurt. that part is okay. the southbound 101 traffic from the north bay. no major issues and this is one of our commutes that fills in later in the morning. no serious problems. slowest drive time, tracy to dublin just under an hour.

northbound 85. you're in the green 15 minutes. an overnight hit-and-run crash has left a trail of wre wreckage in san jose. >> seven cars involved. one car had to be cut up so first responders could get to the driver. matt keller is live for us on vine street. what a scene. >> reporter: check it out. since i last saw you the tow trucks have left, all of the glass that is scattered all across the road here. and behind me you can see some of the damage that was done. three parked vehicles were hit and you can see one is sitting in the front yard of a home here. take a look at the video. this is from around 1:00 this morning. seven vehicles involved in this.

a pickup truck crashed just before 1:00 a.m. that led to three park vehicles being hit here. a black lexus was heavily damaged. once they got that person out they were able to take him away on a stretcher. about a block away the suspect's vehicle, the pickup truck, crashed into two more parked cars. police say they know who the driver is. a female passenger was injured. the injuries of the two people are considered serious but not life threatening. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. this pedicab was pulling part of a family along the embarcadero when this happened. the driver is critically hurt now and the search is still on fon the hit-and-run driver involved. jessica castro is near sansome for us. jessica? >> reporter: it was a really nasty crash that happened about 12 hours ago. it happened at one of the trickier intersections on the

embarcadero at sansome. police are looking for the runaway driver last seen driving to the bay bridge looking for a light-colored sedan. sfpd worked late into the night to process the scene. a car hit this pedicab, several people were hurt. the most severe injury was to the pedicab driver who is now in critical condition at san francisco general. >> of course i worry about him. he's one of us. he was working here for a long time. >> he's a wonderful guy, he's a father, an inventor, a entrepreneur. he's really great. >> reporter: police say the suspect car hit the pedicab just after 4:00 in the afternoon and then a second pedicab hit the first after the crash. a family of four were passengers in the two cabs. the mother is in serious condition at sf general. her husband is okay and their two children, 8 and 5 years old, they have nonlife threatening

injuries. if you know anything, you saw anything related to this crash, police are asking for the public's help. they are also this morning reviewing some of the surveillance video from the crash at this intersection. reporting live in san francisco from the embarcadero in sansome, i'm jessica castro, abc 7 news. oakland police want to find the person responsible for a deadly shooting at a mini mart. this happened around 5:30 last night. officers got there and they found one man dead. three others were hurt. witnesses describe a chaotic scene. >> i saw the guy bleeding like crazy. i made a u-turn and i went to help try to stop the bleeding. there were too many bullet wounds. >> oakland police are still searching for the shooter. no word on a description of the suspect. >> this man in fairfield is in jail. he shot at a jail. it was caught on camera.

he was trying to bail out a friend at the solano county jail. authorities would not release his friend. take a look at the left side of your screen. that is smoke from gunshots that went no a jail just how close san francisco's mayoral election actually was. >> here are the certified results from the san francisco department of elections. as you can see just one percentage point separated the final two candidates after ranked choice counting. mayor london breed won with 51.5% of the vote. this morning we have new details on mayor elect london breed's swearing in ceremony. it will take place july 11th starting at 11:00 a.m. we expect to learn more about the program next week. happening today the giants will hold their 21st annual donate life day. during the game against the rockies. 9-year-old lucy will be the

on this thursday morning i wanted to open the weather window on walnut creek, one of the reasons why, it's comfortable, about 55 degrees right now but it's the peninsula and petaluma in north bay that will see the biggest, the shocking jump, if you will, from about 80 today to even 75. the spread is what gets you. it will be 20 degrees warmer by the time we get to saturday. got to be careful saturday, our warmest day this week. here's reggie with more news.

of illegal fireworks are off the streets this morning. a bomb squad seized nearly 1 3/4 tons of fireworks. they were hid nden in a storage unit. a hayward man was illegally selling them in oakland. >> the fireworks are dangerous. we don't want people getting injured. losing fingers or body parts, like that. additionally, it's fire season now. we don't want any fires started. >> the sheriff's department plans to destroy the fireworks later this year. they want to remind the public the fireworks are illegal in just about all bay area cities. the city of san jose reminding everyone fireworks are banned and asking anyone who sees them to snap, click and report it. we have re-tweeted the link on our twitter page so you can head there for a quick way to get to the website. some big changes are coming

to chipotle. chipotle planning to close up to 65 underperforming restaurants in the coming months. exact locations haven't been announced. the chain plans to change in-app delivery by the end of the year and launch a customer loyalty program next year. home depot revamping the way it deals with in-store pickup for online orders installing lockers for customers to pick up their orders in. home depot hopes to have lockers at all of its stores within three years. 45% of online orders are picked up in stores. still about six months away from christmas but kohl's is looking to hire more employees. they're getting an early start because of the tight job markets. they want to fill positions at 300 stores across the country. it includes the busy back-to-school shopping time and the holidays. >> as long as i don't have to think about christmas presents. too early. >> it's not even the fourth of july yet. everyone just calm down. bud light will be giving out

in the east bay starting off with partly cloudy conditions but sunshine quickly. everybody else in the low to mid-70s. hercules at 78 degrees. peninsula, a lot of the cloudiness is here. by noon you're pretty much nailing the sunshine there at 68. notice the upper 50s along the coast. for the south bay we have mostly sunny conditions this morning. mid-70s to mid-80s from milpitas down to gilroy. because of the lack of broezs today you're going to be warmer than yesterday. low to mid-80s. we'll have comfortable temperatures in our east bay neighborhoods. the heat is on tomorrow, especially saturday. head to the coast. it will be 70 for your comfort and free ac. the thursday morning commute.

a federal judge has ordered the trump administration to reunite migrant children with their parents within 30 days. >> the first phase of a new freeway security network system. they will be calibrating and testing the shotspotter technology along highway 4. controlled live fire exercises will be conducted between 9:00 p.m. tonight and 4:00 a.m. tomorrow. the second phase is said to be completed next month and the final phase is the implementation of a full camera system. it's projected to be completed in august. san francisco is a step closer to hiring hundreds more police officers. according to "the examiner" 21 million for three police academy classes. the goal is to add more over the next four years. advocacy groups wanted the money

cannabis dispensaries are slashing prices ahead of a july 1st deadline. now we're learning that it could cause a supply shortage. all cannabis product packaging has to have a universal symbol when the new rules go into he can on sunday. instead of destroying old product retailers are selling weed at a steep discount. new labeling, safety packaging are part of california's legislation on the industry. the new standards could cause a supply shortage. >> we're at the mercy of the supply chain. if we don't have compliant product to put on the shelves, yes, that will affect us and we're going to take a hit. >> cannabis dispensaries say there are only 30 testing labs in the entire state. a teenager hurt when a tree fell on his tent at a san mateo county park has now settled his case for $47.5 million. zachary roe was camping with his family when it happened in 2012. he lost his right leg and part of his pelvis. san mateo county and a

contractor hired to inspect trees at the camp site will pay $30 million. pg&e will pay the remaining $17.5 million. roe sued for failing to maintain trees around power lines in the area. a new grand jury report finds the oakland school district is operating with more schools than it can afford. our media partner the east bay times reports the school district's years long budget crisis was made worse by the opening of two new schools in the last school year. the grand jury says the district has been an average of $20 million to $30 million in debt over the last 15 years because of overspending on hiring and programs. in addition the report finds the school district is operating with fearly twice as many schools based on enrollment numbers. geologists think they know where the next major earthquake will happen. this map shows a 15 1/2 mile stretch of land between riverside and san bernardino. a study published found future
