make sure to download the abc 7 news app for all these breaking news updates. good evening and thanks for joining us, everybody. another area hit by another large grass fire flared up today. katey is live in concord for us tonight where firefighters are keeping a close eye on the valley fire tonight. >> reporter: firefighters have been working around the clock watching this fire and putting out flare ups. they have the main grass fire under control, but at this point trees that were caught on fire can smolder for days. and the concern is as the wind picks up, you can see as it blows my hair, it can then spark embers and then start new fires. that's what firefighters believe happened this morning. today's fire stayed within the secondary containment lines created for last night's fire which grew to more than 260

acres. red flag warnings were expected in the area today, so the contra county fire protection district increased staffing levels. the red flag conditions did not materialize, but nonetheless a flare up occurred. >> we were a little worried because of the wind. we pulled a second alarm just in case it went over that line, but fortunately that didn't happen. >> reporter: drone view cameras show just how close the fire came to homes. the fire forced the shutdown ignacio both yesterday and today. now crews are working to cut down the dead and still burning trees which could smolder for days. it's believed a sparking truck may have caused the fire yesterday. now, within the last hour or so we've watched grateful residents bring by cookies and drinks for

the firefighters. this fire skatation where i'm standing is conveniently close to the burn zone. and grateful for all the hard work these firefighters have done especially in this brutal heat. >> nice to hear about their appreciation. now, for more about the heat that's causing this fire danger right away let's over to our meteorologist. >> yes, we still have a heat advisory for about another 58 minutes or so, and that's mainly for the north bay. so we still have a couple more stressful hours not only for us but our pets and live stock as that moderate to high risk of heat continues. let's take a look what's going on with those temperatures up there. the sea breeze has kicked in, and you can see they're starting to drop dramatically. some still up in the upper 90s, low 100s. and we also have a huge fire

march organizers estimate 30,000 people came out to protest the president's zero-tolerance policy on immigration. that march stretched from delores park all the way here to the civic center. thousands of marchers filled market street, a protest which stretched for blocks and blocks. >> people seeking asylum aren't criminals. >> we're a country of immigrants. we shouldn't ban immigrants from coming here. >> reporter: this group calling on congress to abolish i.c.e. and end the practice of separating families seeking asylum at the border. >> bring back the mommies and daddies. >> reporter: amanda poole brought her son. >> it's very upsetting children and parents are being separated at the border. we should be more compassionate as a country. >> reporter: some drivers shared solidarity horn honks for the marchers even though they were

won't be nearly as warm. here's a look at 280 in san jose. you can see some of that murkiness coming especially as you look right around the corner of that tree. that's the canopy of murkiness i'm talking about. that's the smoke. what you're seeing down below it, that's the fog coming in with the sea breeze. so we're going to have those clouds plus that smoke tonight, and it's going to be a little bit cooler in the bay and coast because of the fog. i think the 100s are gone for a long time, because we're going to actually drop below average as we head through the first parts of july. can you believe tomorrow is already july? here's the fog bank going to move across the golden gate and over towards the east bay. mid to upper 50s and around the bay low to upper 60s in our east bay valleys. here's a look at my morning planner tomorrow from 7:00 to 7:00. and as we head towards the east bay you've got temperatures

mainly in the 60s and 70s. tomorrow a few areas will get into the 80s. now as you head back to the peninsula a lot of 60s and 70s. but notice the breeze kicks in and temperatures hold steady. same thing in the east bay shore, temperatures will drop for you. breezes do kick up a bit in the afternoon. low to mid-80s. up in the north bay significantly different tomorrow. look at when the breeze kicks in tomorrow at 82 and only 83 at 4:00. and the last look at our midland neighborhood and we will spike into the 90s in places like livermore, pittsburgh, brentwood and antioch. everybody else inland in the 80s. mainly 70s to 80s around the bay
