threatened. they will have their work cut out for them today and for the rest of the week. reporting live from the road on the way to the fire, amy hollyfield. back to you, jessica, in the newsroom. thank you, amy. this is time lapse video in the nevada seismological lab in reno. you can see the smoke moving south last night. the camera here is perched on the el dorado national forest still 80 miles away from the fire. >> the pawnee fire spread to another 1,000 acres over the weekend. it has chared 14,500 acres of land and is 73% contained burning northwest of the county fire. there is still a mandatory evacuation order in effect for the community of double eagle where flames are threatening 50 structures. the pawnee fire destroyed 22 structures since it began a week ago saturday. we are posting fire updates on our website, also the abc 7 news app. make sure to sign up for push alerts and we'll send you updates as they happen.

it is 4:30. let's get a quick update on your weather and traffic. you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. mike? if you were with us saturday evening you know that i was showing live doppler 7 and you could see the plume of smoke coming from both fires, the pawnee and the county fire. look at this. it doesn't mean it's not out there. it means it's not as full of ash as it was possibly saturday night when it was really raging. take a look from the exploratorium and undercutting once again that smoke will be the marine layer. you can see the cloud deck as we look back from the exploratorium to downtown san francisco. we will wake up mainly cloudy with low 50s to 60s. clouds will pull back to the coast leaving us with smoky to hazy sunshine. 59 at the coast. 75 around the bay to 85 inland by 4:00. we'll take more -- we'll take another look at how the smoke will move away from us coming up in the accuweather seven-day forecast. here's alexis. we are looking live at our

walnut creek traffic camera and no delays. i think we'll have a really light week traffic wise at least during the early morning hours. could be busier in the afternoon once everyone starts moving. for now if you're one of the few working this week, i think you should have an easy commute. tracy to dublin is looking lighter than average. 32 minutes. 680 dublin to mission boulevard in the green. northbound 85 looking great at just 16 minutes. alexis, thank you. a woman drowned while trying to save three children swept into the ocean at half moon bay just after 6:30 last night at cowell ranch state beach. an undertow carried the children into the waves. a woman went into the water to help but got swept away herself. other family members managed to save the children but were not able to reach the 47-year-old woman. >> never turn your back on the water. it's pretty dangerous. we have rip currents, large sneaker waves that can come out.

he tweeted this last night. cohen is under investigation for bank fraud and campaign violations. he paid stormy daniels $130,000 before the 2016 election to keep quiet about an alleged affair elected president. developing news in morgan hill where several people became sick after being exposed to an unknown substance at a home depot. eight people in the score complained of an odor that started making them sick. paramedics took four people to the hospital. the initial report was that pepper spray may have been released in the store. the commute is more expensive for a whole lot of people. the toll on the golden gate bridge went up 25 cents yesterday so now the fastrak fare is $7. golden gate ferry riders are paying either 25 cents or 50 cents more depending on the route and whether you use a clipper card. adults who ride ac transit are paying 10 cents more. contra costa firefighters

issuing a warning about the dangers of illegal fireworks. they'll be conducting a live demonstration of what can happen when you use them. officials say there is a heightened fire risk. they want to help keep people safe this july fourth holiday. contra costa county is a fireworks free zone and fireworks are banned. temperatures in the low to mid-50s no matter where you're waking up. temperatures running 61 in palo alto. tracy at 60. most of us in the mid to upper 50s. look at the yellows, what you're seeing up around both fires. up in the hills they're still in the 70s even though most of us are cooling nicely this morning. that warm air rises and that makes things very dangerous for the firefighters. especially during the overnight hours. so let's talk about temperatures today. 12-hour planner for the south bay waking up at about 63.

this is a look at the forecast across the entire state today where it's going to be pretty hot in places like chico, fresno, palm springs, and as you head into las vegas temperatures 100 to 108. nice weather down in l.a. and san diego. morning clouds, afternoon sunshine. mid-70s there. pretty cloudy in monterey today. 68 and breezy. that brings the sunshine it to the north bay coast and points northward. it will bring the smoke from northeast to southwest today. temperatures running about 90 in yosemite. a quick look at what's going to happen the next seven days up in tahoe where we're going to be in the low to mid-80s every day but tuesday and wednesday. reggie? thanks, mike. a man faces two felony counts after investigators say he hid a

camera in the bathroom of a santa cruz coffee shop. sage savage is charged with sexual exploitation of a child and burglary. county deputies say the camera was the size of a usb charger and was plugged into an outlet facing a toilet. an employee found the device, which investigators say recorded 12 people including children. detectives were able to identify savage as the suspect. investigators say a search of his home turned up more evidence linking him to the camera. 4:42 now. car burglaries are reportedly on the rise. on the marin side of the golden gate bridge, heads up. signs are going up around vista point warning people about break-ins. chp says thieves know there are tourists there and they have cash and valuables with them. the agency received many calls out there and want people to be aware of their surroundings. this morning warning center javale mcgee is packing his bags for l.a., joining the lakers next season along with lebron

it's definitely pushing through most neighborhoods, the south bay inland the least coverage. by noon we're still getting a lot of cloud cover along the coast and that finger of fog will be dominant all throughout the afternoon and into the evening hours. a look at our temperatures. we'll start down in the south bay. 80 at san jose to 86 in morgan hill. low 60s along the coast. downtown south san francisco, sausalito mid-60s there. upper 70s to low 80s through most of the north bay. 68 in richmond. 69 in berkeley and then low to mid-70s for most of the east bay shore. then you see fremont at 77. as you move inland temperatures from 80 in san ramone and concord about 90. how about temperatures in the mid-50s again tonight with cloudy conditions. maybe a degree or two cooler for tuesday but it's really wednesday. we're stuck in the 50s at the

coast and mainly 70s elsewhere. and you can see the temps start to rebound thursday and then we're mild to warm as we head through the weekend. a check of the morning commute.. no major issues and really just that little bit of red starting to fill in. no surprise it's getting out of tracy this morning. westbound 205 to 580, 27 and 17 miles an hour. normally it's about ten miles an hour slower than that by now. so you can tell it is a holiday week here in the bay area. bay bridge toll plaza, we have a stackup in the cash lanes but no metering lights yet. we will see if that happens. typically around 5:20, 5:25 it may be later with those lighter volumes. we shall see. take a look at drive times just before 5:00. thanks, alexis. facebook admitting it gave dozens of tech companies special access to user data despite a promise that it wouldn't. a new device can tell how much you stink. a big mission for facebook

you are never mother than seven minutes away from my forecast. 75 at 11:00. look at the strong sunshine, high burn potential today, a little warm during the afternoon hours, mid-80s. we'll drop down to 76, comfortable by 7:00 and 63 when we wrap things up at 11:00 this evening. cannabis sellers are following new rules this morning and it's going to have a big impact on the industry. as of yesterday pot has to have stricter quality safety standards. cannabis has to come with a label saying the product has been inspected in state sanctioned labs. cannabis shops are being forced to destroy any of the drug that didn't go through the certification process. the extra testing is adding to the cost of cannabis products which, you guessed it, will likely be passed on to consumers. >> tesla ceo elon musk says the company has hit its milestone producing 5,000 model threes for

a week and sent out an e-mail saying tesla game a tesla has experienced some delays in rolling out the plant. they had to pull out all the stops to meet the goal including constructing a makeshift assembly line next to its factory. elon musk celebrating a spacex capsule set to dock with the international space station. a falcon rocket sent the capsule into orbit at a spectacular launch at dawn on friday loaded with nearly 6,000 pounds of cargo including an ai-enabled robot and 60 freeze-dried pacts of coffee from new york. musk is the founder and ceo of spacex. and then the complete

vegas. i love to see that, mike. >> that is great when they give back, isn't it? you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. as we transition from high pressure that brought us the warm weather to low pressure and temperatures that are going to drop well below average, the winds will be chaotic the next 24 hours or so and then you can see them pick up as we head to tomorrow blowing out of the west. now this is at the surface that will bring in higher humidity, cooler temperatures. it's also increasing the winds. it's a catch 22. the real key for us in not seeing any more smoke are the upper level winds that will still be out of the northeast blowing southwest today but starting tomorrow they're going to start blowing to the west that will push all the smoke into the central valley and up to tahoe and eventually the winds will come out of the southwest and start pushing the smoke up to oregon and idaho as we head to thursday, friday and saturday. so we have one more really smoky day. alexis? mike, and speaking of those winds, high-wind advisories for

good morning on this monday, july 2nd. let's get right over to meteorologist mike nicco. hey, mike. good morning. hi, everybody. 5:00 straight up. the gray you're seeing here is the low cloudiness, the marine layer of clouds that are rolling in underneath the smoke and it's not a spare the air day so it's going to look pretty ugly this afternoon like it has the last couple of days. the air quality should remain okay. waking up mainly cloudy at 7:00. your accuweather 12-hour planner mid-50s to low 60s. we'll stay around 60 at the coast at noon. about 80 inland. cool to warm there. temperatures close to average at 4:00 under hazy sunshine. 59 at the coast. at 58 at the coast at 7:00 the rest of us in the low to mid-70s, a comfortable evening on the way. let's find out about that commute with alexis. i think we are going to have a lighter than average week here with the holidays. hopefully that will translate
